  1. Star Princess was supposed to have the same refit as Golden and Caribbean: Casino relocated from Deck 6 to Deck 7, new Crown Grill and window suites on Deck 6. And Star was actually scheduled to be done before the other two, but the drydock was cancelled and window suites never subsequently added. On Grand they managed to add the window suites to Deck 6 not by relocating the casino, just truncating it--a design not pursued further to this point.

Do you know what year they did the refits?

  2. Was on the Caribbean Princess for my honeymoon and am really looking forward to being on it again in November. I agree with Color Cruiser, take it with a grain of salt. AND if there is something about your room that you don't like, make sure to let the Princess staff know while you are onboard, they will take care of you . . . what I love about Princess!

When is the Star scheduled for it's drydock? I was in a Grand window suite last year, will be in a Caribbean window suite this year . . . was looking at the Star for a possible cruise

  4. Kemah or Seabrook?

We have to fly in the day before the cruise . . . get into Bush International at. 4:36 pm. So thinking we are looking for the place that we can have an enjoyable meal that night with a bit to walk around in the morning . . .I know we can get that in Kemah due to the boardwalk, but does Seabrook have anything similar? This is for this November.

  5. I'm interested in this post! I had another post but I am flying in to Houston the day before and looking for best & cheapest option to getting from airport to hotel to port and then coming home best option from port to airport.

My roll call said that Uber is the cheapest . . . as long as it isn't peak time so there is not a surge rate

  7. I have tried many of the main stream, always come back to Princess! Yes they have lost some of their crispness, classiness and their extras, but they still seem to have the best itineraries and more activities onboard . . love sea days . . Celebrity was a very close second and could overtake Princess . . . if Princess keeps letting things slip.

  8. I thought this would be a thread that started, got a quick answer, and then died. Foolish me! :D

I have another query in the same vein as the one I originally posted. I booked a cabin in the IF category. In theory the "worst" category on the ship. (Oddly enough the cabin right next door is a IC category...) There are only 3 of this category cabin on the ship. Those three cabins sold out quickly. Now Princess is offering that category as a gty.

Query: Who do you think is more likely to receive an upgrade - the person who actually booked the cabin or someone who booked the same cabin/category/price point later as a gty?

Seems that only time we have received an upgrade was by booking a guaranteed cabin. What I have experienced is once we have a cabin number . . . that's it . . that is our cabin and it doesn't change . . . but that could be that we just haven't had upgrade fairy dust sprinkled on us! Grin!

  9. Hi all,

We are currently on the Island Princess at the end of our cruise. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sabatini Breakfast each morning. I also casually asked the first morning if they had a mixed berry pancake. They had the batter and mix ready every morning in case I wanted it. It was so wonderful! enjoy

Yum, I am going to ask for this one!

  10. Thank you very much, NavyVeteran and cougaraz! Knowing I can wait and decide later to cancel the transfer and get OBC makes me feel a lot better. You guys are awesome.

Also, thanks to everyone else that read and replied to my questions. I really appreciate your insights and love how everyone here is sooo nice!:)

Living in Seattle, it is so easy to get onto a ship that we have done so 4 times. . . the custom lines are super fast every time. Just so you might consider it . . as you can see, I have been on quite a few Princess cruises, have never had any problems with my luggage getting home on any of our cruises. Since your flight is in the afternoon and you are considering taking a car or cab to the airport, there are a heck of a lot of places to see in Seattle. That might be something also to think about on whether you want to be carrying around luggage.

  11. oh come on grin . . . they seem to have different bingos every day, even if they are paper and who knows you may just win lol . . . they have movies under the stars, with blankets if you need them, . The night club is lively, if in our 20's means over twenty one . . . comedy shows, there are any number of fun trivia games, with {non} valuable prizes that you can win! Karoke, pool games, exercise challenges, kitchen tours, afternoon tea and talent shows . . . what I like about Princess, is there always seems to be something going on . . . so my advice is to try as much as possible because you never know how much fun you can have!

  12. Princess has been my favorite for 3 Main reasons:

1 - Their itineraries have been more interesting [which has been changing for the worst in the past several years]

2 -The service onboard was "crisp and friendly" from room stewards to dining room attendants, everything taken care of without even having to think about asking for it [definitely has been changing for the worst]

3 - The food [ we all know how that has declined . . less offers but exceptionally done would make me happy]

I wish they would bring the Foie Gras back to the Crown Grill, it was the best I had ever had!

But my ultimate wish is that they would bring their service back to pre Carnival owned days . . I would pay more for that instead of finding myself on other cruise lines like I have in the last several years to get the itineraries and service we want.

  13. We sailed out of Bayport in February and used the Princess transfer from Bush. Very easy and reasonable - $22 pp each way.

Just got quoted $48 per person for the transfer from Houston International . . .is that what you people in the know are calling Bush?
