Not tropical the first 2 days. Still warm enough to sit outside weather permitting. Have experienced choppy seas sailing to Hawaii. Weather normally turns tropical on the 3rd day once you cross the Tropic of Cancer.

Agree with above poster.  We were on the GRAND on its first Hawaii cruise last January and weather was very nice close to Hawaii.

Hi I just called Guest Services on board. They will present Ralph with a cake and song tomorrow at dinner with best wishes from Doris and Dick. They said they will try to track him down if he is not eating in club class tomorrow evening.

Many Many Thanks!  We used to cruise with Ralph and his wife so many memories.  Since his wife died, we always encourage him to book the same cruise.  Someday, someone will do a favor for you.  Doris

  3. Would someone that is on the GRAND right now help me?? We were scheduled for this cruise and had to cancel when I tested positive. As of today, I am finally negative!!  But--our friend, Ralph is on the cruise alone after 3 of us couples had to cancel.  His birthday is tomorrow March 8 and I know he dines in Club Class.  So--would someone please notify the CC head waiter to celebrate Ralph's 89th?   It would be such a nice surprise.   Many many thanks.  Doris and Dick

The cabin was ready by the time we boarded the ship so I could go to the room and dropped my bags right away.

With the deep discount that Princess offered, I decided to try the balcony room on this trip. I booked the deluxe balcony DF and got upgraded to DB room. I’ve sailed with NCL eight times, never once was offered a complimentary room upgrade.

The room is a little smaller than I thought. It’s enough space for two guests but will be a little tight for three in the room. Since I’m traveling solo, I’ve plenty of space all for myself. I like the big walk-in closet. I can put my luggages here instead of storing underneath the bed.

Bathroom is also on small side. I don’t like the shower curtain. The curtain is old with some dark spots here and there. Maybe I ask for a new curtain but I don’t want to bother my cabin crew. Speaking of cabin crew, he stopped by on the first day to introduce himself and go over some details (muster drill, no smoking, no flushing tissue in toilet, etc.). He also mentioned that there’s no turndown service, only one cleaning per day due to CDC guideline. I cruised with NCL twice last year and my cabin crew always proactively offered turndown service. It’s not quite a big deal though, just a different standard on different cruise line.

Bed is very comfortable. I love the free on-demand movie collection. On NCL, you have to pay for the on-demand movie.

There’s motion-activated light in front of the bathroom. It’s convenient when you need to go to the toilet in the middle of the night but it takes a while before the light shutoff. There’s also motion-activated light underneath the stands next to the bed. So I’ve to wait for a while until the light goes off before I can go back to sleep. Anyone know how to turn this motion-activated light off?

Borrow some pool towels and roll them up to put in front of those lights.  We just took them away during the day as we did that when we were on the Majestic last month.  Those lights are annoying but are definitely a safety factor.  Safety is a high priority on Princess ships.  If you really want turndown service, just ask for it as we did.  You are going to enjoy Kevin as CD but know how excited he must be to go home shortly on leave especially to see his daughter, Charlotte.

There is one very annoying new addition since our cruise last month.

They have added a motion sensor LED dome light on the ceiling in front of the closet/bathroom door.  It is extremely bright and is very shocking in the middle of the night, when going to the bathroom.

They also added 8 inch long LED motion sensor light at the bottom of the two bed nightstands and the refrigerator cabinet.  Also, the most annoying at night!

We always travel with a roll of black electrical tape to cover uncovered peep holes and annoying lights.  So, I took care of all the sensors!  Our room steward told us her supervisor could cover them or we were welcomed to do it ourselves.

Btw, we are in a mini-suite.

When we were on the Majestic, we just took 3 pool towels and used them at night to block those floor sensors.  Didn't think to use duct tape for the dressing room area.

Majestic is Yellow on CDC Site.  My sister said Majestic has returned to Long Beach, I wonder this means it returned one day earlier due to covid cases on board? I don’t have all the facts, just very concerned.

Majestic usually sails out of San Pedro not Long Beach so?????  We have been on 3 Majestic cruises this fall.  Last cruise embarked last Wednesday for a 7 day to Mexico.

  7. We embarked from the Majestic just last week from a b/b.  The CD mentioned that they "capped" themselves at 2300 but each cruise we were on, there were 1300+ and 1400+ passengers.  There were 1300+ crew so you can imagine our amazing service.  I believe that ship at full capacity is close to 4400 passengers.

Do any of these people ever attend a Meet & Greet? I have one set up for our 2/28/22 Enchanted Princess cruise and would love it if one or both could attend our M & G...thoughts?

    Big Al

I can definitely attest to the fact that they attend our gatherings.    Someone just needs to volunteer to set everything up and that does take a little work.  At our recent meets/greets on the Majestic, many officers were present and were introduced by the CD including the Captain who really praised our CC members and our support of the cruise industry.

Big Al--just be sure to send invitations to each officer and don't just assume they know they should be there.
