  1. I have seen some people walk from Nordhavn station but that must be up to them if they want to walk that distance.

They would actually pass a few bus stops on the way to Oceankaj.

If you look at my photo guide on page 11 you can see that its actually only Terminal 3 that has some issues with distance but its only 700 meters or something like that.

Terminal 1 is just in front of the bus stop and Terminal 2 a few 100 meters away.

Yes its correct that one of the bridges that are crossing the harbour is closed for repairs until October or something like that.

But to my understanding Copenhagen is still functioning but maybe it takes 5-10 minutes more to cross that part of town but there are many other roads to the airport so I don't think its an issue.

Again I'm not trying to play the devils advocate but its the first time I have heard issues of taxa shortages.

All recent reviews by other members haven't mentioned any problems by taking the bus or taxi.

    Thanks for confirming.

  2. Hello Danish Viking,

I promised my Facebook group I would inquire about reports that have been coming out the last few weeks about seeing people with their suitcases walking a long distance (1mile) the morning of embarkation. They are reporting that they are coming from public transportation. Could confirm if these people are coming from the cruise bus 25 drop off or were these people unaware of the bus and are walking from the metro station.

Also reports of some construction on a bridge in Copenhagen that is causing major traffic. Lastly someone reported a taxi shortage that has been causing issues.

We plan on taking the bus 25 from norreport but can't walk a mile from the stop.

Thanks in advance for you clarification.

  3. I hope its okay I respond as well.

There is no seat reservations or such thing on the Øresundstog train, you just buy it at the station.

The train runs over the Øresund sound every 20th minute and every 10th in the rush hour so if you're not make it on time then don't worry.

Btw don't buy regular tickets because that is too expensive.

Buy the Øresund Familie (family) ticket instead, its valid for 2 adults and 3 children's.

You will save alot of money by doing this instead, I can post the price when I get on my computer but else it's posted a few pages back in this thread.

We have 2 adults and 4 children. Will we be able to us the family ticket since one of the children is 2?

  4. Acdat1, Hello My husband and myself are staying in Malmo and I was wondering if You had made Your reservation thru Oresundstag from Malmo? They will not accept my credit card, I am hesitant to make it when We arrive there. Was wondering if You made Your reservation ahead of time and incurred any issues or problems. Thank You for info.

No we were just going to by tickets when we get to the airport.

  5. Sorry to say this but you are ill-informed.

The Øresundstog train from Malmø doesn´t stop at Nordhavn, its only an S-train station.

But it stops at Østerport where you can cath the cruise shuttle or take a taxi.

If you take the cruise shuttle just follow my guide from the last page.

Taxi´s are however found outside the main terminal.

Thanks I'm trying to make it through your thread but I'm only at page 12 so far. So let me double check my airport route since the other was wrong.

We are staying at the Renaissance Malmo Hotel which is a short walk from Malmo Central. How do we take the train there from the airport?

    Thanks In Advance

  6. We are staying in Malmo. Our cruise leaves from Nordhavn Oceankaj. I see that we can take the train from Malmo Central to Nordhavn Street stop and we will be about 1.5 miles from the port. Are taxi's readily available outside the Nordhavn Street station or should we just take the train back to the airport and grab a taxi from there or from city center.

  7. HI there - Not sure how much the bus cost pp now but a few years ago it was NOK 45.

The bus can not be pre booked.

The bus schedule is posted below.

    http://www.ruteinfo.net/RuteinfoIISStaticTables/Tables/ruter/t/14-751.htm

I know in the past there used to be a "Glacier Bus" departing:

    From Olden (centre): 09:55

Arrival Briksdalsbre Fjellstove (mountain lodge): 10:40

From Briksdalsbre Fjellstove (mountain lodge): 13:30

From Olden (centre): 14:25 (arrival 14:00)

This bus should be running but I have not seen any info regarding operation this year.

This info is from another poster:

There wasn't a bus stop or sign near where the ship docked but the shopkeeper in the souvenir shop (NOT the tourist information office) directed us to it. The bus arrived right on schedule at 9.45am. A few other passengers got on at the nearby ICA supermarket where there is a bus stop sign, so you could go there if you're unsure about where to go. The journey was 45 krone per person each way. It was a beautiful drive around two greeny-blue lakes.

On arrival, we walked from the car park to the Glacier in around an hour (but with lots of stops for photographs!). We walked back down in around 30 minutes and took the 1.30pm bus back.

I do hope this helps a little.

    Lars

Thanks this helps. The stop on schedule you attached that is closest to the cruise terminal is Olden sentrum correct? Thanks again for this!

  8. Hello I would really like help figuring out how to get to Briksdal Glacier to do the troll cars. We will be coming in on June 25th and we want to take the public bus to the where we can grab the Troll Cars. I have read a few post but it is unclear as to when and where we can grab the public bus and if it can be booked in advanced and the price. If you could help I would really appreciate it.

  9. You do realize you will not get the full cost of new luggage. You get a depreciated cost.

If I'm reading my insurance correctly they will give me the difference in what I paid and what carnival gives me. But that's not even my irritation. It really the fact that no one is saying anything. I did as carnival instructed all I'm asking is that they follow through with a response. For god sakes I have another cruise to get ready for :)

  10. We had a bag damaged two weeks ago and they told us to repair or replace nothing about getting something in writing from repair place.

Replaced the luggage and yesterday sent in receipt with cost and waiting for hopefully a check.

What port did you debarked from? We debated in Miami and they gave us a yellow copy of the report and it's at the bottom says if bag can't be repaired the company needs to state that and place a value on the bag. I think I will be taking the advise above and insisted on speaking to someone tomorrow.

  11. Hi all quick questions,

I came back from my cruise about a month ago and when we received our bags upon debarkation my bag was damaged. We filed the report with the reps as soon as we retrieved the bag and followed the instructions given. We took it to be repaired but the repair company deem the bag irreparable and assigned a value to the bag as instructed by carnivals report. I sent in all the information it requested and received a automatic response that they would reply in 7 days... it has now been 17 business days and I have heard nothing back. Is there anyone who knows who I can call. I've called carnival's regular number and they just say someone will get back to you.

Oh and I had insurance too and they won't do anything until I get something from carnival

  12. They also RECOMMEND a passport but one is not NEEDED.

If this all important letter was REQUIRED, it would be REQUIRED, but it is not.

I am still wondering why people are being asked for this letter when they come back as the USA has no requirements or even suggestion for the letter, that would be Mexico. And they only require it if Mexico is your destination, not just a day stop.

This was my point when I was asked by the agent. If I was going to kidnap my kids it would seem you all should have asked when I was leaving the country not when I'm bringing them back. It was like they were asking me if I had permission from my husband to bring my kids back to him LOL!

  13. Is your sister comfortable letting him go? How do you feel about it? Chances are things will be okay using diet precautions, but where the situation is so new, it's scarey. Will the child be told about not sneaking things like desserts?

She took him to the Dr. today and he issued us some precautions to take but said he is fine. She is fine with him coming (She is still trying to come to b/c it was such a great deal :D ). He has been schooled on putting nothing in his mouth until ok'd by me or grandma.

My biggest thing is what someone mentioned earlier about eating in other countries where they may cook things differently or trying something we don't eat here. So he won't be allowed to explore new foods.

  14. Have not read whole thread, but CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) trumps any cruise line policy. If THEY want the letter and you don't have it, you will be detained from boarding until all facts of the matter are ascertained regardless if Carnival says OK or not. Your chances of missing the ship at that point greatly increase.

I agree but as in the link posted earlier even CBP says recommended. Without the note you can be delayed. As stated below:

If a child (under the age of 18) is traveling with only one parent or someone who is not a parent or legal guardian, what paperwork should the adult have to indicate permission or legal authority to have that child in their care?

Due to the increasing incidents of child abductions in disputed custody cases and as possible victims of child pornography, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strongly recommends that unless the child is accompanied by both parents, the adult have a note from the child's other parent (or, in the case of a child traveling with grandparents, uncles or aunts, sisters or brothers, friends, or in groups*, a note signed by both parents) stating "I acknowledge that my wife/husband/etc. is traveling out of the country with my son/daughter/group. He/She/They has/have my permission to do so." See our Q&A parental consent.

    * School groups, teen tours, vacation groups.

CBP also suggests that this note be notarized.

While CBP may not ask to see this documentation, if we do ask, and you do not have it, you may be detained until the circumstances of the child traveling without both parents can be fully assessed. If there is no second parent with legal claims to the child (deceased, sole custody, etc.) any other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, birth certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc., would be useful.

  15. I haven't read through all the replies yet but here is my experience.

We have been on well over 15 cruises with kids that are mine and aren't mine. Never been asked for the letter when boarding. Only once have I been asked for a letter by customs/immigration coming back into Galveston (for my own children but husband was not with us). She asked I said state department website said it is recommended not required she said ok just try and get it next time and that was that.

I called travel department after to make clarify and I was told that in Texas because it's a border state they tend to be a little more diligent in fact checking children and the letter would have just expedited a matter if there was one, but it is highly recommended and not required.

My personal opinion is that it will not stop you from boarding but may slow you down exiting. Just my opinion.

  16. Thanks Everyone. It is a little over whelming right now but I'm going to take this weekend to get comfortable with his situation. I wish it had not just happen because then my sister might be more educated on it but since we all just found out looks like we'll be researching together.

This may seem obvious, but don't forget that the epi-pen/benedryl should go anywhere the child goes. While this makes it harder to keep it cool/dry/shaded, you wouldn't want to need your pen immediately and be on an excursion somewhere. I've seen kids wear them in fanny packs, but I think that'd be hard on a cruise with all the water activities kids do.

Also, when traveling with your epi, you will want the box with the prescription label. I am assuming (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that Camp Carnival will take the child's epi since he is so young with his food allergy. A lot of child care programs require that they can see the actual prescription per the physician in order to assume the liability of medicating. Also, if he has some type of allergy action plan, I'd bring that too!

I have a one year old with us too so all meds will be in the diaper bag I have to tote everywhere

  17. With her being on limited income, you also need to consider if her budget can stretch if the combination of her bank and Carnival causes the holds on her account to sit for a week or more after she returns home. If that happens she could find twice what she spent held out of her account until the holds expire.

If it were me I'd leave it on my credit card and have her transfer funds to me when we got home.

This is a good idea...only if I could do this without her knowledge...she tends to spend more when she thinks she can pay me back later :D

I think this is what we will do and who knows if she keeps it in check maybe in the end I can say don't worry about it. I love when I can do that.

  18. Hello all we are leaving on the Breeze next Saturday. My mom is retired and on limited income. Our departure date is 2 says before her check is deposited to her account. She is nervous that she won't have enough on her debit card for whatever amount carnival holds/charges on day one. Can I just connect her on board account to my CC until that Monday and then she can go and change all her charges over to her debit card at Guest Services when her check deposits?

Thanks in advance I hope my question makes sense.

  19. :D I just spoke to my nephew and told him if I didn't love him so much I would leave him at home (just kidding) but he assured me as long as the ice cream machine is not off limits he will be fine. Gotta love how kids look at things.

I'll be very vigilant thanks to you all!

This has been eyeopening and great advice.
