  1. They weren't out because they ran out, but rather because of the shortage due to high lime prices thanks to the triple D factor in Mexico (disease, drought, and drug cartels). Even Mexican bars were substituting lemons!

Yes, that's what we were told. My issue was not that they were out, but that they decided it's perfectly fine to use lemons instead of just saying "Perhaps you would prefer another drink because we are out of limes". I'm all for lemon drop martinis!

  2. That's nothing. On our cruise they were completely out of limes. They never bothered to mention it. I ordered a mojito or margarita at a few bars and they would just make it with lemons without saying a thing! Hahaha. - In the Yacht Club and other bars. After the second bar did the same I asked and they said no limes for the entire cruise.

  3. That certainly puts a different slant on things, alright.

The YC, for all its plusses, has quite a few drawbacks. Are you aware, for example, that the dedicated restaurant is at the aft and that the optimum way to get to it is to go down to Deck 7 and traverse the length of the ship for an elevator to take you back up to Deck 15! At dinnertime this is going to be the busiest time where crowds gather on deck 7 and the elevators are in great demand.

Actually, deck 12 (for sure) goes all the way from front to back so you don't need to get to the dining room by going through the more public decks. I believe higher decks do as well but we were in the YC cabin on deck 12 and discovered this was much faster.

  4. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I agree with all of your thoughtful suggestions. I am the American daughter of Greek parents. They can speak and understand basic English, but I am ALWAYS amazed at how some people choose to communicate with them. When someone obviously speaks English as a second language adding more words than necessary (the extra pillow request) is ridiculous. And as far as accents, funny story, my parents owned a motel for many years. When anyone with a Southern accent would ask for ice it would send my mom into giggle mode.

  5. Yes it is sad, with the overall review %'s going up, we might never again see those fantastic deals like earlier this year!:(

Uh oh. You're right. I just noticed the lowest price is 349 now, not 299 like before.

  6. You will find on other cruise line forums similar questions about captains and cruise directors. Cruisers have their favorites. :)

I hope one day I have my favorites too!! We don't cruise enough yet. We like to take all kinds of different vacations with our son (now 15), but when he's off to college in a few years we will be cruising much more often (if I have any say).

  7. I guess I was the only one who did not believe the title when I saw your name because you have posted positive things about the Divina.

Shhhhhhhh - our little secret. Actually, I've posted both good and bad. We definitely had some issues - but over all, the YC is something I've never experienced on a cruise. Worth every penny (especially when it is thousands and thousands of pennies less than other lines).

  8. Most of us asking are hoping some of our past butlers are still on board.

Oh LOLOL. Well even if they are there and "plan" to be in several months, things change often. I'm not sure if I were on vacation I would want to go tracking down butler assignments. BUT he DID say he wanted people's questions so...not my circus, not my monkeys. Carry on. :)

  9. I'm at the One Bar sitting with the Butler Manager reading what everyone says about Divina,,,so this thread caught his eye,,,,you got both of us!!!!!:)

Haha! Sometimes we just have to have a great attitude and everything will fall into place. Enjoy!

  10. That's my favorite line on this forum!! Happy Dance! As the song says, "I have one less problem without you". :D

The more people that decide they won't sail on MSC again, the more opportunities I have to find the cabin I want.

I love the ship. I especially love the YC. I really love the prices!

  11. There are definitely plenty of places to shop onboard, but this was the first cruise I've ever taken where I didn't see anything I wanted at all. It is especially unappealing to me when it is displayed like a yard sale outside the shops or on the pool deck every day. I could not have been more turned off to making a purchase.

  12. It is strangely shaped, but I found that I was able to move the lounge chair to keep up with the sun! It is accessible from only the living room and yes, it is only a large window in the bedroom. I still liked the balcony.

Another question, please...was it a quiet cabin? Our YC2 was completely quiet. I loved it.

  13. can you tell me if there were any texas holdem games going on?

There were several Texas Hold'em tournaments scheduled. I don't remember what they cost. My husband played (and he can't remember either). We think $99 but really, not certain.

  14.

The only thing about GSC that scares me is the lack of shade. My friends call me the whitest woman in America. (I can't repeat what my enemies call me. ) I have been to LSC (CocoCay) many times on RCCL and love resting under the trees in the shade. :)

If lack of shade concerns you then you can't have a leisurely breakfast and try to avoid the herd unless you've reserved a cabana (I highly recommend them - made all the difference for us). There are patches of trees but if you're not one of the first on the island you won't have much luck.

  15. Don't worry there will be no winnings. 17 people went in a group and not 1 person was ever ahead at no point during there cruise, neither has my wife or friends seen a penny profit.

Yes, this is true. The slots are extremely tight. Blackjack was good for my husband and myself and he was up in craps as well. Table games were definitely much better.

  16. They take cash and prayers! On our last cruise the slots were down for almost two days. Something about a firmware issue. People were NOT happy (nor were the employees-they lost a ton of business).

  17. I'm sure the OP meant to say "My hubby never wears pants". The fact that they live in Florida or Timbuktu is immaterial. We live in Florida too. My husband wears shorts, pants and (OMG) suits! That said, we were in the YC and a gentleman came to dinner several nights, including Gala night in shorts. No one said a thing. Personally, people can show up in pajamas and it wouldn't affect my dinner at all.

  18. In reading the current crop of bad reviews...there is one thing that disturbs me.

That's the tendering process to Great Stirrup Cay.

It must be horrible because some nut started yelling and pushing on my husband when the concierge escorted us to the front of the line (we were staying in the YC). The guy hadn't seen the concierge and thought we were all cutting in line. It got very tense for a few minutes!
