I just got off the phone with carnival with this same question. What the others said is true.
Our deposit was $75 pp. We would lose $50 and the remaining $25 would be held as future cruise credit.
Sonce our cabin accommodates more than 2 we may be moved to another room or deck any time between now and our cruise.
I think we are going to leave our booking as is for 3 people so we can stay where we are. We would only save $54 by cancelling our 3rd person.
Hope they let just the two of you board. Might hold things up looking for number 3... (I'm called overly paranoid by some...)

Cruising Dream in earlyNovember.

Since you're almost platinum, you should use the past guest promotion to book your cruise. I have noticed that at least since last March, Carnival has been offering past guest rates at only $20.00 per person above the early saver rates. You get choices of cabin location and you can cancel or change your reservation for free (unless your T/A charges you a fee.)

Sailing on the Dream on Nov. 5 2017. Cove balcony.

I've sailed on Carnival 3 times, the last in 2009. Each time upon boarding, we were directed to the lido deck for lunch. In 2015 I sailed on NCL. Someone on the NCL board mentioned that the main dining room (MDR) would be open for lunch even though we would be directed to the lido deck when boarding. We went to the dining room and it was indeed open. Anybody know if Carnival's MDR will be open for lunch or is the Lido the only choice.

I really loved Mel Fisher's museum. Saw what I consider to be a giant emerald and got to touch a gold ingot. It's all off the 1622 wreck of the Spanish Galleon Atocha.

If you choose Key West, consider Mel Fisher's Museum. They have some of the gold and other treasures salvaged off of the Spanish Galleon Atocha which sunk in 1622. If you dad is interested in history at all he will love it.

Thanks for the info everybody. Guess I won't waste my time at the future cruise desk. Happy cruising everybody

Is there any value in doing this? Any pitfalls? Can you make a "generic" booking or do you need to have a cruise itinery and date in mind. If you have done it before, would you do it again? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Serenade of the Seas Sept. 16, 2018 out of Boston.

Do you have to discover these price drops yourself or are you contacted by RCCL or your travel agent?

We live near Sacramento. We have cruised out of San Diego, Seattle, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and New York City. We are booked out of New Orleans next November and Boston in September of 2018. For us it is itinery, dates and costs. Work to get best value overall.

Hi there. Sounds like you had a good time. We have cruised on Celebrity and Carnival before, but this is our first time on NCL. We are a family of 6 booked on a 10 day cruise and see that the ship doesn't have guest laundry facilities. Any suggestions? We already plan on bringing BIG suitcases.

Hi there. It has been several years since we cruised on Carnival. One of my wife's favorite things on our Carnival Cruises was the nightly Karaoke contests where passengers would compete to see who did a particular celebrity best. That built to the grand finale on the last night at sea where each night's winners would play their celebrity in the main theater complete with costumes and musical accompaniment. Is Carnival still doing that on their cruises? Thanks

How about Sacramento. We have a deep water port and it would only be a 40 minute drive for me...
