  1. I sailed on the Discovery in the first week of May last summer, it was chilly but great. (This was my third Alaska trip.) Though ditto what others have posted... if this is your one and only trip, go for the better part of the season.
  2. The room service hot water wasn't hot enough for me, so I used a metal vacuum bottle. First rinse with hot water, then fill at the Horizon Court. They had a sign saying not to fill bottles directly from the taps, so I used one of their mugs to fill my bottle.
  3. I was supposed to sail on the Crown in May, Princess offered me to change to the Discovery, and I did so. That was a fantastic cruise. Definitely worth trading.

  5. Note: this only showed up a month or so before my cruise. I cancelled the full price internet package and rebooted it with the discount
  6. Some more info from the Discovery Princess... I strongly recommend getting print copies of the Patter and any other daily handouts. I was barely able to access the daily schedules on the TV or app. The default lanyard for the Medallion is pretty cheaply made, my Medallion fell out too easily. I brought a fitbit clip that has worked very well. Reserve dinner at the main dining rooms or specialty restaurants in advance. They were completely overbooked. Also the Salty Dog Gastropub is a gem, terrific food and no reservations needed.
  7. Hi all, I'm currently on the Discovery Princess. Loving the ship and the crew on my third Alaska trip. But NOT loving the app. Advice from the boat: Sign up for the printed materials like the Patter, because accessing the schedule from the app hasn't worked yet (endless Loading screens). Sign up for dinners beforehand, as that also has been timing out. The app works great for room service and amenities. Small caveat: you can't order just hot water for your own tea from the app, you have to call Room Service (and wait). I went ahead and bought a metal water bottle so i can bring hot water down from the Lido deck. Next cruise, I'll bring my biggest vacuum bottle for that purpose. But, oh, it is so lovely to be sailing again! PS: I work in tech so did the usual reboot and also reinstall. Their servers are just slow and not handling the traffic.
