    I'll ask for you.

    Hi Bonnie,

I’m just checking back to see if you’d had a chance to check on this. Others on our roll call are wondering and I’d love to report back the when and the where of our evening! 😁 Hopefully you’ll have some info for us soon.

    Thank you!

    We appreciate it!

    Tammy

  2. Hi Folks,

Thanks for the comments so far. It’s not a TA. It’s a France 7-day intensive. So no reason for there NOT to be an Azamazing evening. Marseilles would make sense as we do overnight there. But we’re in three other ports until 10pm, so I would think there would be an opportunity there as well.

Luckily, we have had no itinerary changes, but I’d sure love to know whether we’re having an AzA evening.

Bonnie, are you able or find anything out? Or anyone previously on this itinerary that can share hero experience? Would greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks!

    Tammy

  3. Hello!

We are B2B on Pursuit for April 6 and 13. The April 6 Azamazing Evening information is listed but there is not one listed (not that I can find, anyway) for April 13. Am I missing something or is it possible it hasn’t been planned yet? Or worse, is it possible there isn’t one for that cruise?

If anyone has insight on this or, Bonnie, if you’re able to find out, I would appreciate it! Curious folks on our roll call want to know! 😉

    Thanks!

The monkeys are still there...it's not an animal preserve. The monkeys are wild...and have multiplied from pets that either escaped or their owners let loose. Take note of the warning signs on the fence.

Considering using Park N Go for 2 weeks in January, but monkeys ... Will they be climbing around on the cars? I can’t imagine so with all the great Park N Go reviews, but wondering ...

    Thanks!

  5. I received the email but, am I missing something, or does the kink lead to nothing more than a list of new cruises? What a tease to send this without allowing us to see the itineraries! 😢

Just be aware that the solarium is actually open to the elements.  The covering is not complete covering, but has openings as this image shows.

Thanks! Yes, I did notice that. That’s a good thing in my view. Prefer to be outside since, at home in December, I’m stuck indoors! Want as much fresh air as I can get! 😁

Central Park has benches along the walkways that you can sit in or at tables outside of Park Cafe.  There are a couple of really nice videos on YouTube where people walk throughout the ship and you can see lots of other places to sit, too.

Thanks for that suggestion. I have since watched a number YouTube videos and they really helped. For some reason, I thought the boardwalk and the garden were indoors and had a glass ceiling rather than open air like it is. Plenty of places outside to relax! I especially love how the adults only solarium looks!

    Thanks again!

  8. What a great thread! As a long time Celebrity cruiser, I’ve learned so much in preparation for our December Allure sailing. Thank you!

Other than the pool deck lounge chairs, what are our options for general hanging around with a cocktail with a place to sit?

Is there any outdoor dining space, such as by the buffet or anywhere else?

From the ship deck plans, I can’t tell what’s inside and what outside. Thanks in advance!

  9. I hear the World Class Bar, one deck up the stairs right at the Martini Bar, calling to me like the Sirens of Greek mythology long ago.

It wound up being my two new, "favorite" bartenders.

That just happens to be my drink she's about to pour...Johnny Walker Platinum. She impressed me because earlier she was rapidly shaking a drink with her left hand while stirring a drink in a pitcher with her right. Wish I had gotten a picture of that.

That's Jelena, right? She was an awesome bartender (and one of our favorites) at the old Molecular Bar on Equinox in Caribbean, Feb 2015! Would be great to have her on our Oct 2017 sailing!

  10. Would you ask I Made ( That is actually on his name badge) if he was on the Silhouette this summer? We sailed Silhouette this last May in the Baltics and I Made was the bar tender at the Martini bar. For my 60th birthday he set up a poor of martinis at different levels(I poured them all at once) that was a treat and celebration. Would you ask if he will be there in February when we sail Equinox? Thanks

Thanks for the great review! Equinox is a great ship - we sail in her again in Oct '17.

We sailed with I Made on Ininfity in Jan, South America. He was the bartender at the Sunset Bar. We loved him and witnessed him and a few other bartenders and servers experience their first snowfall in Ushuaia, Chile. What fun! Tell him Tamara Hughes says hello, and I'd like a Zacapa! He may remember me!

Sounds like you've got a great crew on board! Enjoy!

  11. So here it is, the Christmas market season. The first markets have already opened, Koblenz, the largest town in my area follows today. "My" local one is being prepared, the huts are already up, decoration and goodies to follow shortly.

I came across this article from the Financial Times that I quite enjoyed: https://www.ft.com/content/755e97de-a81b-11e6-8898-79a99e2a4de6

With that untranslatable word "Gemütlichkeit". It supposedly takes a sentence of about 15 words to get that idea across in English, possibly still not quite capturing it. :D

I hope that all you travelling to Christmas markets get to feel that special feeling. And you staying at home, too. :)

P.S.: You might be able to only see the article once, or possibly not at all and be asked to subscribe. However, if you feel like it, you can google the article.

Thank you for the link. When I followed it, I was asked to subscribe, so did a google search as you suggested and found the article by searchIng "financial times Germany Christmas Market." It was the second result.

We leave on 11/24 to start our Main river cruise from Nuremberg to Frankfurt, followed by some independent time exploring the Rhine valley. We are so excited and are sure we will find or feel plenty of Gemütlichkeit. How can you not in such a magical setting as a Christmas Market, especially with the help of a little gluwein!

  12. Hmmmm...we are booked in 1140 for the May 2 Panama Canal trip and this news is very concerning. I have been on other ships with huge movie screens and hated being driven away to quieter areas due to the obscenely loud volume used. I would not be a happy camper if I lost the quiet serenity of an aft cabin balcony! Please tell me this isn't so!! When was the screen installed on Infinity? Seriously thinking we may need to reconsider our cabin.

Sorry for the negative report. As I said, because of the chilly temps of our South America itinerary, the area wasn't in use while we sailed; only when at port. So it was a problem for only a small portion of the time. On a warm weather itinerary, I would be concerned that it would be in use even while sailing, thus affecting you and your quiet serenity much more often. It's too bad, it's a lovely location with great views, a huge balcony, and easy access to the bar below. Other than the noise from above, we loved the cabin and it's location.

Oh, and I made a mistake. We were in 1140, not 1130.

The deck 12 outdoor seating/movie theatre area on Infinity was installed in December of 2015, just before our Jan 3, 2016 cruise.

  13. As others have reported, on our S America cruise in Jan 2017, we too had noise conflicts from the deck 12 movie theater/Sunday football game sounds while attempting to enjoy our 1130 balcony. The thing is, the volume was so loud, I'm not sure how those on deck 12 could stand it. There is no reason for the volume to be this loud. Since it was too cold and exposed while sailing, this only occurred when we were in port, affecting us just a couple of times, as we were generally off enjoying the scenery.

  14. Late last week I shared this thread with senior management, and coincidentally, Phil, I asked that exact question..."aren't we shooting ourselves in the foot?"

Needless to say, the strict 35-pax minimum for tours was news to me. I say "strict" because there has always been a minimum number required for running a tour, but there has also been flexibility in enforcement.

As of Friday, my understanding is that the minimum, and tours being cancelled due to low advance numbers, will both both be discussed at the senior level.

I'd like to thank uktog for calling our attention to this. Not everyone would do so, and not everyone would know that this is an abnormality.

Thanks utog, for bringing this up, and thanks Bonnie for bringing it to Sr. Management for discussion. Hopefully it is straightened out soon, as we have the like package for our sept 9 sailing and would worry that we'd have very limited use of our excursion obc if such cancellations continue.

  15. Sorry this is the longest blog...and slowest, but we are getting there!

    Raina

No so! I know we are nearing the end and I am sad! This has been one of the most enjoyable, entertaining and informative reviews of a cruise I have ever read. Thank you for taking the time to share. I already wanted to go to Antarctica. Now it's not a matter of "want," it's a matter of "must!"

    Thank you!

  16. Are the stairs that access the Rooftop Terrace from the Oceanview Café and the Bar on both sides of the bar, or just one side?

Would cabin 1138 have more of a visual obstruction from the stairs (when looking left) than cabin 1141?

    Thanks!

The stairs up to the terrace are on the 1138 side (starboard) of the ship. I wouldn't say they are an obstruction, but you can certainly see them and the people using them could likely see you if you are nearer to the railing on your 1138 balcony. You would not see them from 1141.

    Hope that helps!

  17. When do they show the movies? How late into the night?

You're right hcat, what will they do to ruin things next.

On our cruise, it was maybe 3 times - a sunday of football and a couple of movies. The football was on embarkation day when we overnighted in the port. That seemed to go on all afternoon!

The movies, as a I recall, were shown late afternoon (2 or 3) and again at 7 or 8 pm. The late afternoon one was playing when we got back on the ship after our excursion. The later one was when we were at the martini bar or at dinner.

So, for us, as annoying as it was, it was only a few times. I guess the cold and rain was good for something! :)

  18. We just sailed Celebrity Infinity on a 14 day Jan 3 South America cruise in 1140. I suspect weather conditions on a given cruise would affect the activity on The Terrace on deck 12. Here were our observations:

    Good

Loved the huge balcony and the view! A nice spot to enjoy a balcony breakfast on a warm sea day!!!

Nice and quiet unless the big screen was in play and we wanted to sit on our balcony (see "bad" below).

Cabin attendant, Somchai, and his assistants, were was wonderful!

Convenient for drinks or snacks from the buffet or buffet bar!

Heard minimal foot traffic or chair scooting from above.

Minimal noise from the outdoor dining area below. On a couple of occasions, a guitar/soloist played at the time we were getting ready for dinner. We left our balcony door open to enjoy the music.

    Bad

Loud movies and football games. Luckily on our mostly cool weather or windy cruise, there were not a lot of things happening on deck 12, so this problem was infrequent. When the weather was nice and we weren't sailing, the movies or football games they played on the big screen were so loud that we really couldn't enjoy our balcony. If I wanted to listed to them at such a high volume, I would go up there to watch! It was so much louder than it needed to be. However, once our door was closed we heard nothing. I don't think I would book this cabin for a warm weather cruise if you plan to use your balcony on a port day.

The Terrace wasn't used during sailing. It was just too windy on our cruise. I don't know if they would under different circumstances.

Not a big deal, but some might not like the fact that the aft flagpole (and flag when in port) is right in the middle of your aft view. This wasn't a problem for us.

Of course, we're all different. We love our balcony time for the peace and quiet and watching the sea, not to listen to sunday football or the latest movie.

    Hope this helps!

    Tammy
