  1. Thank you so much for the information and your opinion.

The cruise from Long Beach on the same day has more ports and is $100 cheaper per person, but I will need additional time off for the drive and the additional cost for parking. This cruise has Maui which I have been to so that’s a bit of a wash. I wonder if it’s worth the effort to go to Long Beach. Hmm.

  2. I understand some people don’t care much about prices and some receive really good offers, especially the casino offers.  There’s no right answer so I just want opinions.

Before, I consider anything below $50/night before taxes/fees a good deal. I haven’t seen those in a very long time.

What do you consider a good deal?

I’m looking at an interior room on the Royal Princess on 12/22/2022. It has 9 sea days so I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to be in an interior room, but I’m priced out for anything higher. It is a Christmas/New Year cruise so pricing is usually higher to begin with.

15 days. How much does it have to be for you to consider?

  3. I was looking forward to trying  La Guerrerense from all the reviews. Just found out they would be closed on Tuesday, our only day in Ensenada.

I plan to go to La Bufadora so anywhere near there or near port/the place we buy the tour.  Thank you.

  4. Hello.  The last time I was in Alaska, I took local buses and walked around town.  I thought it was fun.  This time, I have a new cruiser with me so I don't think I can do that again.  However, I don't want to spend more than $100/day on excursions.  I prefer the number to be much lower.  There are 4 of us.  Thank you.

Juneau, AK 2:00 PM 11:00 PM
Skagway, AK 7:00 AM 9:00 PM
Icy Strait Point, AK 7:00 AM 9:00 PM

  5. I'm debating between these two ships since I'm going with 2 older ladies.  Which would you pick?

For the same price, I can get a room with French doors with an obstructed view on the Miracle and an inside forward room on the Ruby Princess.

The itinerary is better on the Ruby Princess as many have suggested Glacier Bay NP.

    Juneau
    Skagway
    Glacier Bay NP (scenic cruising)
    Ketchikan
    Victoria

    Miracle

    Juneau
    Skagway
    Icy Strait
    Tracy Arm Fjord
    Victoria

Air is supposedly circulate every 5 minutes or so on Ruby Princess.  But since there were a dozen of people tested positive for COVID in January and the current CDC rating is orange, I'm getting worry and thinking maybe I should be on the Miracle instead.  I can get fresh air on the Miracle.  The ventilation systems is supposedly upgraded but I can't find information as to how long the air is circulated.

One of the ladies has not been on any cruise so this is a new experience for her.  It's probably a new experience for me, too, with COVID regulations keep changing.

  6. I'm ready to book but the agent Windstar has sent my way (when I filled out the form online for a quote) is in Texas and they are closed.  No freebies and even gave out wrong information when I asked about the $1,499.  I will need to change my return date since the flight of the dates I first searched has gone up.

I don't know of any local TA.  I saw an online one giving $30 back for booking online.  Should I just call Windstar directly?  Is that still with a random TA or someone who works for Windstar?

Also plan at least one night of accommodations before and after your cruise to allow for some unusual Papeete flight times.

Wish I knew about the sale 4 weeks ago.  :(

I don't have time for a night of accommodation before the cruise.  The plan is to fly overnight and be there around 6 AM on the day of the cruise.  I hope that isn't going to be a problem as boarding isn't until 1 PM.  If there is any extended flight delay or cancellation, that's a different story.

Do you know if these prices (below $1,500-$2,000 for 7 days) are typical of Windstar in Tahiti?

  8. I saw the price of $1,799 on the 2/17/2022 7 Night Dream of Tahiti cruise and thought it was good. I just found out that there was a sale for $1,499 + $100 onboard credit.  Didn't see that sale.  :(  Does anyone know if the 2/17/2022 cruise was ever offered at $1,499 + $100 onboard credit?

I can't take advantage of any price drop at this point since it's less than 90 days so I want to weigh out my options.

A positive test alone will not suffice for any policy. You need to consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and issue orders not to travel. He can do that whether you are ill or not. Symptoms are not required; confirmed diagnosis by a medical professional is.

if you test positive during the cruise before you return to the US, you will be referred to and placed under the jurisdiction of local health authorities. They can provide the necessary documentation or assist you in getting it.

At that point, Trip Delay benefits are in force and will pay for expenses incurred that delay your return (quarantine), so look for a policy with the most generous benefits for that policy provision. Trip Interruption, which covers up to 200% of trip cost depending on the policy, will reimburse you for unused days of the trip and transportation to get home.

Thank you so much. This makes me feel a lot better. I’ll be sure to look for Trip Delay and Trip Interruption benefits.

  10. Hello All,

I keep seeing people say that travel insurance should cover if you happen to get a positive test and can't go back to the US.  I checked with InsureMyTrip and that was not the case.  They say their insurance companies only cover if you are ill with a doctoc's note, not just a positive test.

I want to know which insurance company/policy cover 1) hotel for quarantine time if required and 2) new return flight to the US since a positive test means you can't travel.

    Thank you.

  11. Hello.  When I stayed near Matira Beach, I kayaked to the Coral Gardens past Sofitel to snorkel.  What's a good location to snorkel if I use the kayaks from the Windstar Breeze?  I don't think I have the energy to paddle all the way from the port to the Coral Gardens and back.  Looking at the map, it looks like it's a long way from Pofai Bay to anywhere snorkel-able.  Thanks.

  12. What are some cheap things you can do at these places besides using the items offer with the watersports platform in February 2022.  Do you have other recommendations?  Thanks.

Day 1: Moorea from 6 AM - 5 PM (Watersports Platform is available.)

Day 2: Raiatea from 8 AM - 6 AM next day (No watersports platform)

Day 3: Motu Mahaea (Tahaa) from 8 AM - 5 PM (No watersports platform)

Day 4: Bora Bora from 9 AM (Watersports Platform is available.)

Day 5: Bora Bora departs at 9 PM (Watersports Platform is available.)
