  1. Not priceline, but posting this in case it can help someone.

I booked Best Western of Long Beach via Hotwire for $66 + $15.04 tax/fee - $10 email coupon = $71.04. I will probably park at the hotel during the cruise for an additional $12/night instead of at port for $17/night. Free shuttle to LA cruise terminal.

    10/1/14 to 10/2/14

    3* in Long Beach area

FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pool(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access

I booked thinking it was the Residence Inn By Marriott Long Beach. Oh well.

I used to book priceline, but I didn't want to take my chances with the additional parking fee.

  2. Can someone tell me about these special rooms, 6J and 6K?

    Thanks

Category 6J - Scenic Ocean View Stateroom: Scenic Ocean View Staterooms have a floor-to-ceiling window.

Category 6K - Scenic Grand Ocean View Stateroom: Scenic Grand Ocean View staterooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows.

  3. Thanks all for your feedback. I went Alaska once on the Sun and loved it. I guess whatever ship I choose will be better than the Sun. :)

  4. If price and dates are the same, would you please rank the following ships in the order of preference for an Alaska cruise? If you can, please rate each ship out of 10.

Norwegian Sun, Holland ms Statendam, Radiance of the Seas, Island Princess, Coral Princess, Celebrity Millennium, and Crown Princess.

    Thanks.

  5. If we booked almost 9 months in advance, why am I not on the early saver program? This is our first time cruising with Carnival and I am confused. Thanks for your help in advance!

Early Saver rate may not be available when Carnival is having a "sale" even if it's months before.

  6. Do you know how hideous Miracle's interiors are? I know John Heald is the CD, but everyone in my family agrees that Miracle needs to be rethemed or redone. Crown Princess for sure. Make sure to write a review!

:) I was on the Miracle earlier this year in a 4K. I don't like the decoration throughout the ship. I understand the decoration on Crown Pricess is better. The question is, is it $200/person better for similar itinerary?

  7. I'm looking at a cruise to Mexico in February 2015. I've been on the Carnival Miracle with 2 days in Cabo (didn't like it much) and 1 day in PV (loved it).

Carnival Early Saver vs. Princess rate. I'm not so sure of the price drop policy on Princess. I've read that they will match up to 70 days before the cruise only if the rate is available for current booking. However, lots of sales are for new booking.

    Interior forward: $569 vs. $749

    Interior aft: $569 vs. $759

    Interior midship: $579 vs. $779/$789

Carnival Miracle has the interior french door rooms for an additional $25.

If you're in my situation, which cruise would you book?

  8.

We disembark in Long Beach from the Legend.

    Thanks :)

You don't have to be US residents to do self assist debarkation. There will be 2 lines. If you are not a US citizen (even if you are a US resident), go to the shorter line on the left side. You normally don't see the end of the shorter line since most people will be in the longer line. Just go to the left and walk straight up. If you're not comfortable walking pass everyone else, ask one of the agents before you get in the wrong line. The line is short but it doesn't mean it's faster. The short line splits into 2+ lines and the long line splits into 4+ lines before you reach an agent. :)

  9. I was lucky enough to be on the Norwegian Sun when I went to Alaska last year. I was on the Miracle to Cabo and PV. For Alaska cruises, I prefer the NCL Sun a whole lot more than the Miracle. I really like the Observation Lounge on the Norwegian Sun. It allows you to listen to love songs, see people dance, and view the scenery/wildlife at the same time. The chairs are pretty comfortable, too. I thought it was perfect for Alaska cruises. I'm waiting for another last minute deal. :)

With that said, I like the $50/person OBC and 25% off a future cruise.

  10. I like this cruise, especially PV. I don't like the decor on the Miracle. When we got back on board from Cabo, the machine beeped when our cards were scanned. The guy told us to step aside. People looked at us weird. Security took us to a nearby room to get our statement about the incident. When I first saw the legs swinging, my first thought was .. someone committed suicide. The lady stepped down a minute or so later. Phew.

  11. I kept hoping for one of those free cruises people kept talking. Sigh.

On my first cruise (4 days), I got an email offer from an inside to an oceanview for $40 per cabin.

This time, I'm booked in a 4K (7 days). I just got a call offering an obstructed balcony for $280 per cabin. I turned that down and got offered a standard balcony for $200 per cabin.

    Should I?

  12. Thanks, I was not using corporate code. It will go through now. But not taking my dates. Will keep checking here for June code

If you choose flexible dates, you will know what dates the code is good for. It's only up to April now. February, March, and April were just available a couple weeks ago.

  13. Just wanted to let you know that my son left his iPod behind on our last cruise. We called immediately when we got home, and the ship was already out to sea; however, when it returned to port we got a phone call that it had been found in our cabin. Carnival mailed it back to us. My son was so happy, and we were so impressed.

A friend who went with me on a cruise last February lost a camera with all his pictures in it. He reported it but it was never found. Glad your son got his iPod back.

  14. I just booked the Maya with the Carnival Code 0560018220 for Feb. 4 for one night. I'm paying $149 for 4 persons in the same room. When you figure the free parking into the deal, it's well worth it. I had to change my address in the reservation because they were listing it as "Carnival Cruise Lines" with my home address. Simple change and it's done.

You may want to call the hotel to get your rate adjusted. 2/4 for 4 people is now $139.

  15. Hi there, We are cruising out of Long Beach in Feb and we ended up getting a night at the Westin across from the convention center for $179 (no shuttle). The Hotel Maya was $254 but had a free shuttle. Both rates include one night stay and parking for the duration of the cruise (7 days). We will have to grab a cab to/from the port, but it's only a mile away so no big deal. We can check out all the bars etc.. at the Pike within a short walk from the Westin, so we are pretty excited to get the fun going as soon as we check in the night before. We are driving out from Phoenix. Just thought you would like the info. Have a great Cruise!

You may want to check the Maya again. It was in the $200's when the code didn't apply. However, it's now $119 for the garden-view rooms. If you don't see that rate online, call and book with the hotel directly under the Carnival rate, which includes 7 days of parking.

For February, this rate is currently unavailable on 2/1 and 2/5-2/8. The $119/night is available up until the end of April at this point. The rate was $125 a couple days ago. I called and had my rate adjusted to $119.
