  1. I never liked eating at buffets. Just the fact that they call that clear plastic thing on top of a sneeze guard grosses me out. I actually avoided cruising until I was almost 50 years old because I thought all meals were served at the buffet. Have had four cruises since, and have managed to not eat anything from the buffet.

  2. My sister booked the cruise for her and her family online without a PVP. When I decided to join her I called my PVP to book my cruise, and when I told her about my sister and that I wanted to link our bookings she did so and then told me that if my sister needed anything else that she could call her. Probably just trying to get a new customer, but it is possible for the PVP to service someone who booked online.

  3. Seriously? I'd love for you to explain how taking away something because of the behavior of a few does me some good.

I must use your logic at the TSA Pre-Check line this morning. If that were to apply then the $85 I spent because of the actions of a few are for my own good...

I think the "good" the poster was talking about was getting through security lines quicker.

    SHM...

    .

I think the "good" that the poster was talking about is getting through security lines quicker.

  4. But the question is' date=' how much more money would they get from those who could by cheers as an individual? Are they losing more money from these potential customers, or from those that would share?[/quote']

They won't loose anything, the majority of them will just pay by the drink.

  5. The bartenders that do that, in my opinion are just after a larger tip, apparently receive that tip very often, and then are shorting Carnival. I take issue with that.

You're entitled to your opinion, but the "issue" is really between Carnival and their employee. If Carnival really had an issue with this they could certainly do more to prevent it.

  6. Based on my experience and apparently another poster on this thread, I would simply order your child's milkshakes or frozen drinks from a bartender who knows you have cheers. Be prepared to pay for it, and I would say maybe half the time the bartender will give it to you on your cheers instead. That way you haven't broken any rules. I really don't think they're too concerned about sharing a milkshake here or there with a child, it's more alcoholic drinks they're concerned about. And if you don't intentionally try to abuse it it you should be fine.

  7. I get it, my mistake. I just find it odd I'm willing to pay for upgrade on the same cruise that is double the cost. They are making more money. Yes I agree it's their business and their rules. I didn' cancel tho or asked for a refund. I just know now not to rebook. Live and learn and I won' be upgrading.

They would not make more money they were to allow you to upgrade and waive the fees. They will still get the money for the cabin you would upgrade to from someone else.

  8. The reality is that the majority of carnival cruisers under21 cannot drink legally at home. It is reasonable to expect that reducing thedrinking age to 18 for these kids while they are on “vacation”, particularly ona cruise line with a “party” reputation, can lead to problems. It isunderstandable that the cruise line just doesn’t want to deal with this, so itsets the drinking age to 21.

  9. On 10 there will usually be a band or dj. Their area is right below the big screen. You can look down on the activities on 9 and the pool, usually there's a good breeze. For quiet, follow the path to the back of the ship, there are several areas to sit and even shade along the way. Lots of people read there and look over the side of the ship.

I was on the Conquest in 2013, and there was ALWAYS a band or DJ playing music. It was VERY LOUD. Sometimes in the AM they would just play TV on the big screen - Music Videos or re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond or some network morning show. I found this also to be uncomfortably loud, and I am actually a little hard of hearing.

  10. Sorry...but I will never use hand sanitizer.

Great, way to think about others with your germs and sickness all over the buffet area, the door handles and anythings else you touch. I know you are not in the bathroom washing your hands 24/7 to fight against the possibility of spreading something, it is not possible to actually be washing your hands that much while on the ship. I am sure you will tell us all about sanitizer not being useful and blah, blah, blah and how you rebel against it is at least an attempt to reduce things being spread. You cannot count on people to wash their hands continually or at all in the bathroom.

Sorry, But I will also never use hand sanitizer. I , like most people my age I suspect, was taught to "wash up" before every meal. 50+ years later, I still visit the restroom and wash my hands with SOAP & WATER before every meal. I do the same on a cruise ship. It is quite "possible"

  11. Well what did you expect with dozens of threads on here where people brag about how how much time they spend checking multiple times a day four weeks until it becomes available. When you have people lining up for a capacity controlled good like FTTF, they can charge whatever they want.

  12. Yes, Carnival is not the authority as to whether or not your four month pregnant wife wishes to enjoy a glass of vino. She can consume whatever she would like if she has the Cheers program. Non alcoholic drinks include soda, juice, espresso based hot and iced coffees, energy drinks, still and fizzy bottled water, honest tea iced tea and milkshakes. If you're sailing on the Vista or Sunshine, you can even go to the shake spot and get a spiked milkshake from their adult menu.

For what it's worth, there is a poster on these boards who claims to have purchased cheers for himself and his pregnant wife, after which they refuse to serve her alcohol because she was pregnant.
