  1. We had a couple of hours in Sorrento as part of a larger tour. I would certainly go back to spend an afternoon or day the next time around. It is a quaint, touristy, Italian seaside town. Very pretty, with good boutiques and some nice restaurants. Lemons are very big there! This would be a nice relaxing day for you.

  2. We did Rome in Limo five years ago and it was great. I forget the forget the driver's name but we shared the tour with 2 other couples. We did part of the Amalfi, stopping at Pompei (they got us in before it opened) , Positano and Sorrento. We had lots of photo stops and I think we paid less then 100 dollars per person.

  3. Great information, thanks! We flew Rouge to Venice last summer and it was "OK". The biggest issues for us was that the inflight entertainment is missing. If you have an apple device you are OK, but some of the customers had glitches and it's a long flight if you are expecting to watch a movie but can't. They did have an option of device rental. The flight itself was OK but squishy. We have flown Air Transat and upgraded to "Club Class" and this was surprisingly quite nice. I was thinking that maybe on of the European Airlines like Lufthansa, SAS or British Airways might be better in the service and comfort areas? Would love to upgrade to first class but this is so expensive. We are going next spring, but I will book as far ahead as possible since this seems to give us the best prices.

  4. Hi,

Does anyone have a good suggestion for the best airline to Copenhagen? We are leaving from Toronto, or could leave from Buffalo. I have been so unhappy with air travel lately, uncertain schedules, poor service and squished up seats! So, we are thinking of upgrading to premium economy or if we can find a great airline service then maybe we can stay in cheaper economy. Any ideas? I had a nightmare flying in from San Juan this winter and my husband will veto any further trips if we have a repeat experience!

  5. I like both ideas-the plane is certainly economical and fast and the Ferry sounds like it would be a fun experience. Is the drive from Copenhagen to the ferry and the ferry to Hamburg straightforward? DH would love to drive the autoban but we don't speak or read German (except I can say hello, good bye and "Ja Ja Ja"). The plane would be less of an adventure but probably easier. Thanks for the ideas I'm so happy that this is a do-able plan!

  6. We are wondering if it would be feasible to spend a couple of days in Germany following a cruise that ends in Copenhagen? I wonder which Germany location would be most easily reached? We would prefer to spent some time in a historic or quaint village a opposed to Berlin. Is it better to travel by train, plane or should we drive (would be able to with a Canadian license?). I am concerned that if we drive we would get lost!

  7. Does anyone know if the Star has heater loungers (the tile kind)? Also, I see in the posts that one can get a "Spa Pass", what does that include? I really hope that the Star refurbishment a few years ago means that they now have the heated loungers-such a necessity after touring all day!

  8. Thanks for the great visuals Terry (nice to see your picture too, lots of people seem to assume you are a girl-Terry!). It's funny, I talked to a cruise sales agent about transferring from Berlin to Warnamunde and he really made it seem like no big deal...this is why I love this forum, a three hour ride is not for us. Will save Amsterdam for another time (would love to see it). Really excited to spend a couple of days in Copenhagen.....sounds so lovely.

  9. Wow, so far lots of votes for Copenhagen, thank you. I don't know much about these ports and am trying to research so we pick a great pre-stay port, we likely wont be back in Northern Europe so we want to make sure we have a nice stay. We love small, quaint towns with lots of culture so Copenhagen is probably about right. My concern with Berlin is that it is a big modern city and we would not have time to get out into the smaller traditional towns. Any more input would be greatly appreciated.

  10. We just got back and I can tell you that there is no need to do tours in San Juan. Yes the trolley runs the perimeter of the old city and will stop at forts, it is free. There is a bus system that runs horizontally around the inner streets but really it is a very small area and if you are in reasonable shape you can walk it easily. There are a few good options for cheap eats (empanadas, two dollar beer) and also some more expensive but good restaurants like Barrachina (who will store your luggage for free in a secure room, with an attendant-we did this post cruise and it was great) and Marmalade. The shopping is underwhelming and touristy but fun anyway. I had heard that you can take a ferry to the Barcardi Rum Tour but we chose not too-just had a famous Pina Colada at Barrachina's. Watch your drink prices, we stopped at a fun looking bar for a Mohjito and it cost us 9 bucks a piece! Also, I would recommend taking a walk along Paseo de la Princesa. This is a beautiful walk along a street that was used by dignitaries in the old days. They would come by ship, walk the street and enter the city through the old gate which you can still see. You will walk along the old wall of the city and the walk leads to a lovely church where the dignitaries would end their trip, giving thanks to God for safe arrival. Have fun!

  11. Hello Travelanni,

I am looking for a cruise that includes more then one stop in Germany and found one that includes 3 days in Hamburg, a day in Warnemunde and some time on the canal. We want to experience some German culture, architecture and food, that type of thing so we thought we would stick to Schwerin Castle or Rostock in Warnemunde, although Berlin must be so interesting. What is there to do in Hamburg for three days? Also is the Kiel Canal very scenic?

    Any info is appreciated!:)

  12. My husband is planning to golf when we are in St Thomas so I will be on my own for the day. I'm looking for a good solo activity that will be easy for me to do. I like spas, shopping and sightseeing, some beach time too. Any ideas for me? Especially looking for stuff I can walk to from the tender, but I don't want to hike for miles!

  13. The menu looks really expensive ($22 for a small lobster bisque soup). It does say Bahamian dollars, but isn't that pretty much on par with US dollars? Has anybody eaten there and was it really worth the cost?

  14. HI,

We are trying to decide between doing the ships San Juan Tour on departure day or else just debarking and doing a DIY day. Our flight leaves at 6pm so DIY seems feasible but I am concerned about having to tote around our luggage? Any ideas about either plan would be appreciated!
