If there aren’t any taxis on the dock waiting for cruise passengers , walk to the main road , there is a taxi rank opposite the CR7 Hotel .Depending on where the ship docks it is either a 10 minute walk ( from the furthest away) to 5 minutes if it docks directly in front of the hotel ….if it does berth here then the rank is behind the hotel.

Can you get a taxi on the dockside by the Cruise Ship ? or do you have to take the shuttle into town. I am asking because we wish to see friends on the Island and it would make it easier for us .... Thank you

At what time does the Queen Vic sail from Funchal, when visiting on 3rd November 2022 ? Want to visit relatives on this date and wondering if we will have time.

I will shortly be on Queen Victoria. My friends have recently returned from a cruise, but were disappointed about the closeness of the tables in the Queen's Grille.
Some of them are side by side with little distance between the two. I am not anti social but my wife and I had the experience of a woman sat beside us who would not stop talking...which spoilt the evening dinner, so much so that we had to eat at a later time to avoid them (it did not work..they began to eat later !! )
Can we choose the table we want at the start of the cruise ? Some of the tables are spaced at a more realistic distance apart. I was thinking of speaking to the Maitre d' on embarkation. Do you think that would help ?.
Advice would be very much appreciated.

I have again gone into P&O my cruise details, which I have completed for my wife and myself... I cannot see anywhere a facility to up load photos.... any suggestions, please ?

When you go to online check in on P&O web site, it states that you will need the following :-
1. Booking ref Number.......no problem
2. Passport Details ...........no problem
3 Payment card...................no problem
4. PASSPORT STYLE PHOTOS ?? I have never needed these before. I have tried to contact P&O customer services but they never reply !! Why do we need them ? If we do, do you upload them to P&O ? What is the point when they are on passport and your picture is normally taken before boarding.

Wow....what a nightmare... I thing you have been treated deplorably... We are on a Cruise in April this year. Hope that we don't have the same problem. Thank you for posting this experience. All the best on next cruise

Thank you Annabel50 and wowzz...... not very comforting...I will wear a gas mask on board and disposable rubber gloves...unless anybody has a better idea !!!
Thank you both, anyway... I have paid in full now so will make the best of it. If I am quarantined I expect my wife will want to stay on board to get away from me !

I have seen various accounts of covid on cruiseships. Some have been isolated on board, others have been taken off ship and some have been flown home.... Has anybody experienced any of these senarios ?

If there is only organized coach trips and you are not able to do your own thing, would you not think that the cruise you booked is not the cruise as advertised and would therefore be able to cancel and get a FCC ? and not forfeit your deposit ? I appreciate that if a port is cancelled whilst on the cruise that is at the prerogative of the captain.

We are booked on cruise on Britannia leaving 9th October 2021 which has not been cancelled by P&O. but we are very concerned about visiting Italy and Spain due to covid. I have underlying health Problems and do not wish to chance it. If I cancel will I be able to transfer any deposit paid to another cruise next year ?.

UPGRADES ON CUNARD

I have put a bid in for an upgrade to a Princess Suite. When you search Cunard's site it it states all Princess Suite are sold out !!.
I wonder, therefore, are there any held back or are we waiting for someone to cancel..?.. Cunard would make by double selling. i.e. the original passenger having paid would recoup from their insurance company (Cunard would keep their money) and resell the cabin. Are these genuine upgrades ? or is Cunard squeezing the last pips from travellers ?
