  1. Hi all -

We are on the Nov 9 Koningsdam. I knew when we booked there would be a delay in boarding for necessary inspections, etc. We were told 2 pm instead of 1pm boarding. Now they have pushed boarding back further, with that staggered boarding will begin at 3pm, with various decks boarding in 30 min increments. So now I have a lot of time to kill with kids in tow.

    Questions:

    1) Will the terminal still open at 11 am?

    2) Can we drop off luggage leave and come back?

    3) We are considering "killing time" by taking our time getting luggage, grab a coffee at Starbucks, change kids into shorts etc. Then go have a nice big breakfast somewhere. Considering eating in a restaurant at a large hotel like the Hyatt Pier 66, so that we can wait in relative comfort in their lobby after eating. Thoughts? Other options I haven't thought of?

Note: I have looked into a day room, hubby said no. Thinks it's a waste of money and that boarding may begin earlier than 3 so we should just go to the terminal and wait.

  2. I think most cruise line desserts are just ok with a few exceptions (disney has a sticky toffee pudding that is WOW! But I've found the buffer desserts to be pretty but tasteless.

However, we cruised Princess last year and the desserts everywhere were divine!!! They have a pastry shop in the buffet and we would cruise through at all hours for a little taste of something!!!

  3. We sailed in Cabin 6143 with the extended balcony...nice space but it makes the room

have a tunnel view to the water and you have to go all the way to the balcony rail to get the full view. The room was not any smaller than the other Veranda Rooms.

Thanks you Goldcar! This is exactly the information I was looking for. My cruise is in 49 days, I will post some pictures when I get back.

  4. Hi all -

O searched but didn't seen any threads with specific room reviews or analyst of deck plans. From the deck plan, it looks like 7116 - is an extended verandah. Do we have any confirmations of this? I am wondering if there is a trade-off I should be aware of (odd room layout, smaller than usual room?) Thanks so much for any insight you can provide!

  5. Got off Regal two Saturdays ago, November 8th. Walked off with our luggage at 6:25 am, through customs in no time, line of taxis ready to take us the 10 minute ride to airport.

was at gate by 7:15 am. It's doable if there are no issues clearing the ship, no emergencies that delay etc. If you have status on a particular airline, a frequent flier who knows the system, and have no issues flying standby if you miss that flight then go for it. I know a previously poster put your odds at 50/50 but I would say more like 80/20 or maybe even 90/10.

FLL was a ghost-town at 6:30am on a Sunday, because most ppl don't want to get off ship that early. It started getting busy around 8.

  6. I just saw Fiera on the 11/3 cruise. Loved the sets and costumes, performers were very good to excellent. My only issue was that seemed to have lifted all of the music from Pitch Perfect! I know that anyone can convert these songs, and the modern music is exciting, but the they copied the exact arrangements and mashups! I fear it's a matter of time before there is a lawsuit.

It felt a little "lazy" to me, to copy from a popular movie. Perhaps they are banking on the slightly older clientele to have not seen the movie?

  7. Just got off same cruise. Easy disembark, off ship by 645 and at FLL by 715. I was so worried about our 10:20 flight but turned out fine.

Not sure what happened on embarkation. We arrived approx 10:40, waited outside terminal until about 11:10. Checked in and seated by 11:30. First groups started boarding approx 12:10, we were on by 12:30. Maybe just hit with a lot of volume at one time?

On a positive note, we loved the cruise! Not perfect, first night anytime dining took almost 2 hours. But every evening after that was incredibly speedy!

    Full review forthcoming.

  8. Hi all - I've looked online but I am a little confused about the pools on the Regal. Which pools are family pools and which are adult only? Is there a "pay" area for adults as well as a "free" area for adults? Hot tubs, are some adult only?

Do the pools/hot tubs close at a certain time each night?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Hi all -

I'm a somewhat seasoned cruiser on NCL and DCL. Considering the Nov 3rd cruise on Regal Princess.

Looking at pricing - it looks like princess is not offering ton of sales right now, or "free" gratuity/drinks like some of the other lines? (Some sales on certain cruises but not this one).

Does Princess tend to drop prices as the cruise gets closer like other lines sometimes do, assuming the ship/cruise is not in high demand (first week of November tends to be a slower time, if previous experience is correct)?

Free drinks - is it just water/lemonade/tea/coffee like other lines, or do they include soft drinks at all?

    Thanks so much!

  10. Am considering the Getaway for this November due to the KSF promotion (currently booked for Disney World, but we'll see, lol). Im am a bit out of the loop as we have not sailed NCL since 2010 (have been sailing with Disney)

I am aware that the main pool is adult only, yes? Are there hot tubs that kids can use or are they confined to the kids pool?

Is there a quick link or FAQ for height/weight requirements for the slides and ropes course?

Is it true that the hours are limited for the slides and ropes course (I had read this in a review)?

Do they provide a phone/pager for when the kids are in the kids club? When we were in the Pearl, you just had to write down where you were going to be...

    Thanks in advance!

    Andrea
