Is it supposed to have a tracking function? I just got one so that I wouldn't have to hunt up my sister's card to put in the slot when I left the cabin. Noone said anything about features other than doing everything your card does except clocking you off and on the ship. EM
Yep it is supposed to. It's on the MSC website. It was working a yr ago on the seaside. It seems it abruptly stopped.

I was worried about all of this since booking last April. I will finally sail in a few weeks (this April). I will come back and give you my two cents.
-
Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not the tracking feature on the wristbands are working at this time? I cruise in mid April. Thanks!

We did a Sunny Liston Tour several years ago in St. Thomas - it was lots of fun~!
huh?

Hello there...
Does someone have a port map for this port? I haven't been here since '96 so please excuse me. Also is this a tender port?
-
Cozumel has a semi-sub that my Grandson LOVED. They got to see all the fish swimming around and felt like they were in an aquarium. They also have a glass bottom boat that is loads of fun for kids. I believe one of the islands has a pirate ship boat you can go out on.
Thanks both of these options sound great!

Our 2.5 yr old LOVED Chankanaab Park in Cozumel!! Lots to see and do - dolphins, crocodiles, pelicans, iguanas (wandering around loose!), and a lovely little beach with tiki huts and warm shallow water to wade in (bring water shoes for your kids, though).
This sounds like a perfect option for Cozumel....THANKS!!!!!!

We have the baby jogger city micro and it does NOT fit through the doorway.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will check those out, My kids are scardy cats :) I don't think they quite have the temperament for the stingrays yet ;)We take our kids out and about. Roatan is my kids favorite port - we have loved private tours with Booden or Island Marketing....iguana farm, monkeys, sloths etc.Belize is harder but when my little guy was 2, we liked Goff's Caye. There is also the zoo.
Cozumel - check ports of call board as there are plenty of family friendly beaches a taxi ride away. Those or Chankanaab have been our go-to's.
Grand Caymen - how adventurous are the kids? My tween is STILL afraid of the sting rays - but my older has been in the water with them from about 8 years old all on his own. You could do Turtles or 7 mile beach here.

Belize is a long tender ride, so it might end up as another sea day unless you book an excursion. EM
Any suggestions for kid friend excursions there?
-
Hi everyone.
This is my first time taking both kids with my (3 yr old girl and 6 yr old boy). I am looking for kid friendly ideas in these ports.
I have been to GC before and went to the Turtle Farm and may end up doing that again. Would the bus be a good idea with kiddos?
I have also been to Cozumel too many times. I have done an island tour there and then mostly shopped and walked the streets by the port. Anything kid friendly there to do?
I haven't been to Mahogany Bay and its been way too long since I have been to Belize. I do remember the area immediately outside of the port was not developed and we were warned about safety.

Could we have stayed in studios across the hall from each other? Sure, but it was nice to be able to just open the door in the morning or evening to discuss our day while wearing my pajamas. We were not joined at the hip and I did consider us both 'solo' cruisers.
Exactly. Some just asked a few posts up why do they have to be adjoining this is why. I dont want to have to p/u the ph every time I want to chat with my friend. We only see each other 2x a yr since we live in different countries but as adults we enjoy our own space.
-
The idea was broader than that from the very beginning. This is from the original press release about the studio cabins in the run up to the launch of Norwegian Epic in 2010:
And for a while they even let two people share a studio, .
Omg I cannot imagine sharing that space with anyone! Even my husband!
-
Sorry that you don't understand what I am saying. I'm merely pointing out that going on holiday solo means that, as in not with anyone else. The idea of the studios is so the SOLO travellers can meet each other.
Personally I wouldn't go on holiday with someone I wasn't comfortable being around all the time, but that's just my opinion.

Found the picture for the Escape adjoining studio room (same setup for the Breakaway and Getaway):

I need the bowing down emoji to to thank you for this!!!!

It depends on time of year sailing - I usually sail in the offpeak, like after Thanksgiving, so sometimes the price will drop before the sailing to convince other people to go. :) Likewise, for summertime and holiday weeks the prices go up and rarely drop.
Thx ... I am looking at 9/18 maybe i will see a tiny drop. People fear hurricanes.

Moderno is free for lunch but it the usual buffet stuff. The lunch restaurants will be listed in the dailies and will tell you which has fees and which doesn't
The activities for solos will be listed on the board in the studio in lounge. The solo meet and time is listed in the dailies; that when the cocktail hour is for the lounge.
Call them up when the price drops for the room - they usually offer OBC for like about 1/4 of the drop or free/low cost room upgrade to interior/ balconies / etc depending how big the drop was.
You can make reservations on your own via the TV / Kiosk / Guest Services or you can let the solo coordinator set up for you when s/he setups the group dinner for the other soloers. There's no formal night on NCL, there's "Dress up or not" and some just don't. :)
Yes, You can prepay the tips before going via the website or over the phone.
Fantastic answers to my questions ;)
In your very extensive experience is it usual for studio cabins to have price drops since there are so few on the ship?
-
There really is not a "Formal Night" anymore. You can dress up or not any night you want.
When do you plan sail?
Sept 2016 ...the cruise to bermuda
Good to know about formal night.
-
What ship?
We are booking the Breakaway but I am actually fine seeing this example of cabin on any ship period. I just want to have an idea what it looks like
-
lol, at least you can close the door to her side of the room.
Exactly the reason we picked studio cabins :)
-
None of the specialty restaurants are open for lunch. One of the MDR is on Sea Days.
There is NO need to make reservations for dinner in the MDR's.
I always prepay the DSC.
From what I am hearing even on The Escape- internet speed is very very slow.
Welcome Aboard
When you do decide to book, find the Roll Call for your cruise and join the conversation.
Thank you... even on formal night there is no need for reservations? Really :)
That's fantastic...I will trust you on this lol.

Call the 800 number if the price drops. They often will allow you to upgrade
Activities are the same for all cabins and you'll get a daily in your cabin plus they are posted all over the ship
I dont want to upgrade just get the price drops before final pmt. I want to keep my studio cabin.
There are special activities in the studio cabin lounge for travelers only in studio cabins. I am trying to find out if that is published anywhere or it is just handwritten on the white board in the lounge.
