  1. I sailed her at the end of May and it was the hottest I have ever been on a ship. Some areas and times were unbearable(especially the casino). I won't likely go again on her until I hear it's better.
  2. I have that offer and it added almost $1000 to the cheapest fare . So, basically, they're charging for cheers upfront. No thanks
  3. Used the deck 2 facility a few weeks ago.
  4. Same!!! Thank goodness my daughter's gym made her cheer tumbling this Sunday optional and we can finally hit the beach. I'm having withdrawals!
  5. yep. Without it, no way, no how. But, thank goodness for it, because I'm a beach girl through and through and don't want to live anywhere that isn't close to the beach(and I mean the ocean, not a lake beach!).
  6. BTW, that's where the fl in my username comes from.
  7. I've lived in FL all of my 55 years. Which is why, when indoors, I don't expect to sweat like I do outside. Inside should be a reprieve from the heat.
  8. Certainly your opinion. I had an awesome cruise except for the serious amount of sweating I did. I didn't complain about anything else(not even the fact that we got COVID). I absolutely go with the flow and the whole week kept telling my daughter "it's alright, we're on vacation!" whenever little things didn't go right. But, I really can't stand to sweat through all of my clothes for a week. Everything else was awesome!
  9. I'm fluffy and over 50 too. That's why I asked a bunch of others to make sure it wasn't just me. I didn't hear from anyone that didn't think it was crazy hot in certain places.
  10. That's because they have to charge the local tax rate while in port. You'll see the same tax on drinks you get while in port(even if on the drink package)
  11. I will also add to my post that my daughter and I came home with souvenirs and we both have Covid now......
  12. I assure you that you won't need a sweater on the Horizon. And it wasn't just when the casino was packed. It was hot no matter what. In fact, even hotter at night.
  13. I'm a native Floridian, so I can deal with the heat. But, I don't expect to miserable indoors for the entire cruise. Most nights, the dining room wasn't sweltering, but it was noticeable warm. Other parts of the ship were awful.
  14. I have lots of cruises under my belt too (Carnival and others) and have never, ever been so hot on a ship. And we always cruise summer. It was awful.
  15. I was on this cruise as well and wondered the same thing.
  16. It seemed just to be the common areas. Our cabin was cool(though I had it cranked as low as it would go). But, I spent more time in my cabin than I would have because of the sweltering heat. They could have gotten a lot more of my $$ in the casino, but I could only take it for so long before I had to leave.
  17. I commented on another thread about this, but I thought I'd start a new topic. I just got off of the Horizon yesterday on an 8-day ABC island cruise. First... let me say, overall, I had a great cruise. But....... and it's a big but. This ship was HOT! I'm talking sweat your extra calories off hot. Other than our cabin which was cool (thank God or this fat old lady would have jumped ship), everywhere you went was miserable. I sat at Alchemy most nights and the heat was quite the topic of conversation amongst everyone. This is an open area bar, so there isn't a reason it should be so sweltering there. The Blackjack tables in the casino were like a sauna. Eating in the MDR was not fun in your nice clothes when you feel the sweat on your back. I think part of the issue is the LED spotlight lights they use everywhere. Those suckers put off some heat. But, other than that, I really don't know the reason. I spoke to Guest Services and honestly, they just kept throwing around different "reasons" and excuses and didn't really seem overly concerned. The ship is lovely and the crew were great, but I will have to be offered one hell of a deal before I would sail her again until I know this has been addressed. Curious if others have had this experience recently on the Horizon....
  18. No, at night it is awful. That is when I was in the Alchemy and the casino and you sweat buckets. Everyone was complaining. I would have to be offered a serious deal to consider sailing this ship again until I know this issue has been resolved. I spent the week very uncomfortable and that just shouldn't be the case. I shouldn't be in my nice clothes trying to enjoy a meal in the MDR and have my face beet red and my back dripping with sweat.
  19. I just got off the Horizon this morning. I am quite certain I gained no weight on this ship despite eating like a pig because I'm certain I sweat it all off. I have never, ever been so hot on a ship. Every area was miserable. The casino was the worst and was positively miserable(specifically the tables along the back wall). Alchemy was also ridiculously hot(and considering it's out in the open, this doesn't really make sense). I found myself spending more time in my room that I would normally because, thank you Jesus, the cabin was cool. I spoke to guest services and got nothing but multiple possible reasons and certainly no genuine concern. I talked to a lot of people on the ship and there was definitely a consensus that everyone was overwhelmed by the heat.
  20. I went ahead and rescheduled the test for 2 days. I'm not taking any chances. We leave Saturday and so now we'll test Thursday. We tested 3 days ahead in March, but the CDD hadn't updated their recommendations yet.
  21. We leave Saturday on the Horizon. I had tests for me(55) and my daughter(16) scheduled for Wed. I just went and changed them to Thursday because I'm nervous now that the CDC is recommending boosters for us both. All I need is to get to the terminal and for them to turn us away. It's just as easy to test the next day(and since it's rapid, we still have another day as a cushion if anything were to happen or delay the results).
  22. Can anyone confirm that only one booster is required to be able to do the test 3 days before? Both me(55) and my daughter(16) each have the 2 regular vaccines and one booster.
