We are staying at the Pullman at Brisbane domestic the night before the June 19 Coral cruise.  Really nice hotel and a short Uber to the new terminal.  I guess we have to try and find a pharmacy to do supervised RAT before going to the hotel. Driving to Brisbane from Stanthorpe.

I have read that Histopath are doing tests at the Brisbane International Airport Terminal. PCR results in 90 mins. Not sure if it is only for flights. Also supervised RATS.

We went Brisbane to Cairns in 2009 when they still had the Queenslander Class - pullman sleeper carriages, a bar/lounge carriage and a dining carriage. It was great fun. They gave us lovely robes and slippers to take home as souvenirs.

Wish they still had sleeper cabins, the railbeds whilst comfortable, during the day no problems, at night when you pull into the station you hear the announcements - "doors closing"  etc (and the lights etc through the door). There was a takeaway area, but meals were served at your seat.

  3. Well, Boxing Day here is a public holiday. But, the shops are open and we have the Boxing Day Sales ( still happening - but not as crazy as a few years ago - I have never been. ) Actually, the BD sales started before Christmas last year, Daughter and I went and got a couple if new car seats for the kids week before.

In our household, we always watch the start of the Boxing Day test match - cricket - always played at the MCG in Melbourne. Husband watches all 5 days and we flick across to the Sydney - Hobart yacht race.

Now some flavours of hot cross buns that have been around . Plain, fruit ie dried sultanas etc -my favourite, apple and cinnamon, choc chip (too sweet and messy).

  4. Christmas is certainly over here. The hot cross buns were on the shelves on Boxing Day. New variety this year - Vegemite. A couple of years back I refused to buy any until closer to Easter and then there were none available.

  5. Sorry, been away from the computer, had a Covid scare, but all good now. Husband was deemed a close contact (since been changed to casual). Household all got tested (Negative) and spent a few hours contemplating what our options were for Christmas if we were to be in isolation.

  6. Not sure what has happened here, but the answer was correct - just not the extra for exact location. Please play on.

By the way, exciting news we have been able to leave Qld and are in SA and will be starting our Murray Princess cruise next week. Have had a day trip from Goolwa ti the mouth and Coorong yesterday.

For some weeks now, especially as we hear little from our Australian friends, I have been wondering what is happening with APT (river cruises).

Can not answer about European River cruises, but when we were on our 4wd tour (with a different touring company) to the Tip (Top of Cape York Peninsular) in June this year - APT's 4wd tours were also there.

I just tried to book the Indian Pacific in Nov 2022. It rejected as non-Australians can't book before June 2022.

This is way beyond frustrating as the trip the week before is already sold out. I spoke to an agent a couple of weeks ago and this was not mentioned. I will try to call tomorrow.

Bear in mind that the Indian Pacific has not run for almost 2 years (it has been suspended till Feb 22 (only last week)). There are a lot of folk with credits that need to be used - hence the future bookings being high. We are due to go on The Ghan in 2 weeks - lets hope we can - we could be denied boarding depending on SA State rules. Also due to do The Great Southern in Dec - but are assuming that may not be possible. These trips were booked after 2020 cancellations.
