  1. Look at the prices and they do a mediocre job. And expect a tip on top.
  2. In 35 Princess cruises I have never seen anyone drunk and rowdy. You are safe to have a great time. Spring breakers go to the Caribbean on NCL , RCCL and especially Carnival.
  3. Any manicure I have ever had on a ship was super expensive and pretty bad. I would suggest going to your local place before the cruise. Maybe a blow out if she has curly hair and would like it straight for formal night.
  4. If Money was no object I would cruise NCL Haven in an Owners suite every time but I can go four times on Princess in a Penthouse suite with a great casino offer instead. Is the food as good as the Haven restaurant? No but we have no problem eating in The Crown Grill etc with our savings. The Sabatinis suite breakfast is outstanding. We never take the drink packages just pay as we go for substantial savings as in a suite ( and Elite) we get two set ups ( turned in for Diet Coke and water) plus two waters a day. And the free laundry is wonderful.
  5. Bring your own and if you like bar soap bring it also
  6. We cruised Princess 35 times and then drifted to Celebrity retreat and NCL Haven. We are back on Princess. I hated Luminae and found I was ordering off the MDR menu. NCL Haven is great if you like kids ( although the 16+ sundeck is great). Both Retreat and Haven are double the cost for smaller rooms than a Princess Penthouse suite ( our go to). The service, entertainment and casino offers are far superior on Princess. The friendly vibe is like coming home. Take the lower price and eat in the specialty restaurants a few more times.
  7. I buy a miniature stapler at CVS and attach in the hotel the morning of the cruise. Easy to do . I also print extra tags at home and put two on each piece of luggage.
  8. If you go the mini suite route go for the Reserve class so at least you will have the nicer dining. We just got off the Island 10 days in an aft suite and the free laundry was wonderful. We sent it out every morning. We are Elite so we would have had it in a mini too but I think the turn around is faster if you are in a suite. Also the Sabatini suite breakfast was terrific
  9. So did Oceania where it is a blood sport. My sons mother-in-law carries a list of animal group names in her purse. I have a nice umbrella from that cruise!
  10. I had no idea! I just thought they were smart. But 20 right answers every time ! Duh.
  11. We love the Regal so I am looking forward to the Enchanted.
  12. Yes we are booked on the Enchanted for January and after my casino play, I hope to receive a nice offer for the fall. I wish Princess sailed year round from NY. 35 cruises on Princess since 1990. I’m not giving up after one turkey.
  13. I did well on Lucky Larry Fisherman and they had four machines ( packed every night) that had the four games ( Buffalo, Miss Kitty, Panda, etc.) that I hit the Grand on the bonus wheel.
  14. Hahaha. Go to the casino ( I know it’s small and dark with old machines ) but I hit a grand jackpot which was one of the reasons I enjoyed the cruise. Nick, Cynthia and the other young asst cruise directors do a great trivia.
  15. This is not counting people whose sprinklers went off. And the first day that the hot water came back it was scalding and couldn’t be regulated ( very dangerous). Hopefully the current cruise is going well.
  16. I am the original poster. We were in a large aft suite ( added in the retrofit) and did not want to move. The bulk of the problems occurred aft from deck 7 thru 14. There was no hot water ( except one morning briefly) for half of a 10 day cruise and no toilet one day and no a/c one day. I showered in cold water twice by standing outside the shower. Hysterical to watch. Once I was sent to the spa but they had no hot water and once our Steward’s supervisor took me to a Dolphin deck mini suite to shower. All guest services people were lovely and tried their best to make the situation better but they agreed that the dry dock should have been moved up. The cowardly Hotel Director refused to meet with us. Everyone one affected received $25 pp OBC. The last day of the cruise we received $600 future cruise credit. I still had a great time, but I wouldn’t go on the Island again. The whole guts of the ship is rotten.
  17. Even if someone was looking over your shoulder when you put in your pin they would still need the medallion
  18. Dear Memoak. I guess your cruise standards are a lot lower than mine. I have a wonderful plumber who comes the same day. Same with our electrician. We are very loyal ( sailing Princess since 1990). But I don’t put blinders on when I’m served an inferior product). Who stole my Princess ships and what did they do to them.
  19. By the way, their handling of problems through clear communication mirrors the departure information
  20. No mention of compensation. I don’t even care anymore. I was my fault for booking her because of the convenience of leaving from Brooklyn. Our 12 day cruise on the Enchanted from Fort Lauderdale in January will cost exactly the same. I am putting it behind me because I intend to enjoy the rest of the time on board but it would have been nice if management ( ie the ghost of a Hotel Director) was more responsive.
  21. Almost half the cruise. There was no hot water the first day. Then there was for three hours. Then no water the next day . Then the next day no toilets. All seems fine now but no apology or information
  22. The Island Princess looks beautiful on the inside. Food is good, entertainment fine, staff ( except at the top) lovely and kind and polite and hardworking. But the guts of the ship including the phone in your room are falling apart. The elevators are fast except for one aft that doesn’t go to deck 14 but keeps opening so you need to walk up a flight. This is very difficult for disabled passengers. I know she has dry dock in September but it may not be enough.
  23. No we love cruising and in over 50+ cruises (35 on Princess) this the first time we’ve encountered the lack of customer service, updates and the ass not knowing what the elbow is up to. When we were on Symphony of the Seas and a a terrible crew death occurred causing missed ports we were compensated, kept up to date etc. we are just being given the run around. And on land you can leave, not so in the middle of the ocean with no toilet
  24. There was no hot water. Then it came back. Then a pipe burst. Now there is no water in over half the cabins. Our toilet stopped working. We are considering leaving the ship tomorrow in Norfolk. This old tub should be pulled from service. And we have repeatedly asked to speak to the Hotel Director Francisco to no avail. We are Elite with 35 Princess cruises . This one is ruined.
