  1. Definitely book pre-cruise to get the dates, times you prefer
  2. Don’t dismiss the Sanctuary without trying it once. It’s really wonderful. Best view on the ship. Staff really pampers( hot chocolate and blanked in cool weather). They will also bring you burgers, hot dogs, pizza if you prefer it to the spa menu ( really quite good). The afternoon tea served at 3:00 and included is stellar with mini sandwiches, scones, cream, etc. ) and no one can sit on your lounge or take it away from you. There are also fabulous cabanas with tv and refrigerator ( includes m and m candies) for an up charge. Although I know people have gotten those through the casino. It’s a real first class experience
  3. You will have more room and a larger sofa/couch in a mini also I believe there is a curtain that can be pulled.
  4. The Sky is a lovely ship. You will have a great time
  5. It is a sectioned off part of one of the mains with a separate entrance ( red rope separation with a young lady at the podium with your name. You come anytime the dining room is open ( usually between 5-9. The head waiter will prepare one special appetizer or dessert and one extra main at each dinner. You can get a table for two with no problem, after the first night they will know. The wait staff is the best on the ship.
  6. We are on the Island June 4-14 for a cockamamie cruise with only 4 ports- Boston, Halifax, Norfolk and Charleston. We were on her the first year she sailed. Any cruise is great. This will be our 35th on Princess. We love the entertainment especially the nighttime games and quizzes. Plenty on time on this cruise. Not happy about the small casino although I heard they added more slots in the music venue next to the casino. Wish they’d do away with the smoking. Food is just fine.
  7. If you can, book a reserve class ( used to be club class) mini. You will have a much better experience. We love reserve class dining. Separate entrance. Better service, no reservation necessary and a few special additions to the menu.
  8. My mattress on the Emerald ( reserve mini suite in September) was old and mushy like a hammock but after alerting the head of housekeeping, it was changed. I like a rock. That’s what makes horse racing.
  9. Whatever happened to no shoes, no shirt no food? I guess I. This case the bartender only saw him from the waist up.
  10. The Island Princess was built to transit the old locks so perhaps your cruise will do that. We did that cruise the first year she sailed. It was magical. My kids are now 50 and 47 and were raised sailing holidays on Princess. I remember when they had fireworks on New Years Eve. The would string lanterns all over the top deck. Sigh. What I would do to repeat those memories.
  11. It rains a lot December through February in Hawaii
  12. I think with Premiere package you get two free specialty dinners. I understand your unease. Just keep checking
  13. Yes we moved our room twice. There was a big wedding party ( fun to look at) but they were accommodating. The rooms are furnished beautifully and it is diagonally located from the best hot chocolate ( with whipped cream)in town . Just ask.
  14. We have stayed at the Majestic. Great location and lovely roof top restaurant.
  15. Have the concierge at the Ritz arrange it. We have done this and it is a slam dunk. You will be guaranteed an excellent ride and can bill your room.
  16. Yes, it’s great as is the fruit bowl and reserve dining service
  17. Yes it’s worth it. You won’t have a concierge lounge but a dedicated lane at customer service ( sometimes ignored). Everything else is good and free laundry is wonderful ( you would get this if you are Elite anyway)
  18. Especially now that many ports won’t let the big ships in ( Venice, Key West) or in the case of Montenegro the channel isn’t deep enough. The new Sun Princess is too big!
  19. Try the Oceana Sirena . It was a Princess ship that we sailed in Tahiti and then with Oceana to Cuba. So sorry that Princess sold the two it owned.
  20. Not sure when you are going but if there is any chance to see the Military Tattoo In Edinburgh during July or August be sure to book. We did the excursion through Princess from Glasgow. About 45 minutes before bus If I remember correctly. Amazing once in a lifetime experience. Dancers and bagpipes from all over in the castle courtyard
  21. Bid a small amount( you never know). We love Reserve (club class) because of the anytime no reservations superior service dining.
  22. I think so. We were on the Emerald in September and she looked great. Dated for sure but still a joyous atmosphere.
  23. The old Star was a wonderful ship. We took her around the tip of South America in the 90s followed by an NCL ship for safety. And then to the Baltic when St. Petersburg was just opening up to tourists. No stores or restaurants! We bought stuff out of people’s car trunks. Great memories of a comfortable friendly environment with great food. All Italian kitchen and wait staff who were having romances with the British hairdressers. The gossip was very entertaining.
