Thank you for the excellent review!
I never take for granted how lucky Jeff and I are to be able to travel. The wonderful places, the historic sites, the works of art, the relaxing times and most importantly the people we meet along the way..... Maybe one day that will include the two of you.

Also agree there is nothing around Laem Chabang that I would call interesting.
We visited Si Racha Tiger Zoo http://www.tigerzoo.com in 2006 when we were there for an overnight. It was OK. But if you have ever been to a fine zoo (like San Diego) you would probably be disappointed as it is rather run down and somewhat cheesy (Like the Scorpion Lady...who stands there covered in Scorpions)
Nong Nooch Tropical Garden is beautiful would definitely suggest a visit there. http://nongnoochgarden.com/home.html

Congratulations on your marriage! Wishing you many years of happiness. My DH and I will celebrate our 22nd Anniversary in October. The years just get better!
Embarkation day for me is always like Christmas, even as we plan for our 10th cruise. The excitement builds upon the first sighting of the ship, but goes into overload as we walk on board and the stresses of daily life melt away....
Great review! The pictures are great. Loved the pillow bed! :D

Hi guys, to those who will be going to Astoria Column, be aware there's 164 steps to climb when you get there.
True, however, the view from the base of the column is also wonderful. You can see the whole mouth of the Columbia River, across in to Washington State and the City of Astoria below you. I've been there twice and never climbed to the top.

We just made up our mind today to sail the Summit Mid November and are staying in Room 6118 Sky Suite. Has anyone stayed in the room before, is it a good location, any pictures. Thank you for the feedback. :)
We've sailed in 6116 on Constellation. Great location! Right near the glass elevators. I really like the Sky Suites on the M Class ships.

I am interested in getting to the Goonies house via the trail.....can anyone be more specific about how to get there....directions?
The Goonies house is at
- 368 -38th St Astoria, OR 97103
According to mapquest that is about 3.2 miles one way from where the ship will dock at The Port of Astoria. It would take you through the downtown area.
When I met some people who came in on another cruise ship, there was a shuttle - not sure if it would take you there or not.

Hello Joe!
It is very unfortunate that we'll not be on the same cruise this year. Wish you a fantastic voyage. Cheers,
Thom
Hey Thom -
Wishing the same to you! Keep good care of Millennium during your watch.

Thanks for the info, MaryAnn!
I wonder if anyone would have recent info on how much the cab ride costs.
Thom

We are boarding when you get off - our hotel quoted around $16US for the cab ride to the cruise terminal from the area near The Bund, so that jives with 100CNY.

Fort Clatsop is an interesting place to visit as well. It is a recreation of where Lewis and Clark wintered before heading home.
I second the suggestion of Bowpicker for lunch. Excellent fish and chips. Line can be long though.
If you rent a car and are interested in light houses there are two in Cape Disappointment State Park just across the river in Washington. Several Lewis & Clark sites in this area as well.
A visit to the Flavel House is also interesting.

thanks for the updates. We'll be on board for the transpacific in April.

We always book our trips pretty far in advance. I'm just frantic if I don't have something to plan/look forward to with anticipation.
We booked the Transpacific (Shanghai to Seward) on Celebrity Millennium for April 2013 when we were on the Equinox transatlantic last November.
In December 2013/January 2014 we are ringing in the new year as lighthouse keepers at New Dungeness Light House on the Olympic Penninsula. We commited to that in January 2012.

Hi Gixer,
A huge thank you for all the wonderful information! The photos of Sea Lion Island are amazing. Unfortunately our cruise line isn't offering this tour when we come on the Star Princess next March and the local operator won't schedule in case of delays. I guess I'll just have to come back again someother time to take it in!
Again, my thanks for all the information......
