Price drop to $649 gty veranda or $499 gty inside for booking 3/11-12. but still 200% for single supplement. you can find very reasonable one way airfare from Choice air. We already booked on Reflection T/A otherwise would jump on this.
Nice price, but I've got a 14 day cruise booked with a friend on those dates.

I try to book a balcony on most trips unless it is cost prohibitive. In that case, I must really like the itinerary to book a lesser cabin. My inside cabin days are over.

Wow! Is the sale over?

Sale was just for this past weekend.

Anyone done the steak house solo? I really love the experience and the food in the steakhouse but I don't know about going by myself. Is that too weird? I'll be trying to meet others and maybe go together, but what if ....
I go to the steak house solo all the time. I usually bring my kindle to have something to read in between courses. I usually go the first night of the cruise as it is usually not very crowded. Go and enjoy yourself!

Gave in and booked an aft balcony on deck 12 for March 22. Call me crazy. Getting reasonable airfare was a bear, but I found the cruise fare too irresistible.
I booked a b2b for 14 days in a superior balcony for about $860 total. Amazing deal!

Trying to decide between an Aurea Suite (with panoramic view)- cat 13 and no balcony or the highest level balcony- cat 12. The only difference I see is the suite has more square footage, a walk in closet, and a tub. Am I missing something else?

Another MSC Divina deal. Both the March 8th & 22nd (2014) sailings have solo balcony cabins for $298.50 plus fees of $137.05. $435.55 total. This is a 7 night Caribbean cruise.

Hello:
Well, after realizing that my 40th Born Day would be spent alone or with friends who simply couldn't make up their minds if whether they were in on the plans or not, I decided to hang out with me, myself and I.
I will be on the Carnival Glory (March 2, my actual BDay) and would like some ideas on how I should handle getting out at port and definitely enjoying myself on the ship. I am shy, but warm up quickly and do not want to find myself hanging in my room too much.
I enjoy shopping, music, great food and love love history. I even enjoy the water, although I am a horrible swimmer (taking lessons this summer).
Ports are Grand Cayman, Belize, Roatan Honduras and Cozumel.
How do you handle getting pictures of yourself at different sites, when its only you? Do you eat alone as a single person? Will they automatically give me a single bed, even though I requested a King?
I really hope this will prove to be the right decision for my 40th.
Tina
Great decision! and great ports of call. As Lois suggested check out your roll-call for this sailing. Maybe you can get ideas for excursions from other members. As far as the dining, it will be your preference. If you select a seated dining time, you will be placed with others. Maybe couples or other singles. Just depends on the table size you select. If you select My Time Dining, you just show up and you will be asked if you want to sit with others or by yourself. As far as the bed arrangements, you have a choice of either 2 twins or a king. Just let Carnival know. Enjoy your cruise Tina! and Happy Birthday!

Just booked a great rate for a solo balcony on the Carnival Pride- Feb 23, 2014. Baltimore-7 days Bahamas- $593.00 Balcony.

Chances are you are actually going to be off the ship prior to that.
1pm will be doable.
Thanks. The itinerary shows that the ship will be in port at 9:00 am and since I have priority disembarkation, I should be off soon after that.
-
I am disembarking in Long Beach at 9:00am. Would a 1:00pm flight from LAX be doable?
-
Great price, thanks for the info. Will they pick you up at the port on return?
Only if you are renting a car again.
-
I picked up a car at the FLL airport (Alamo) and dropped it off the next day at MIA- $23.00 total charge for one day. They offer a free shuttle from MIA to the Port of Miami. I enjoyed having the car to do some sightseeing and shopping prior to cruise.

Anyone done this tour in Old San Juan?

Make sure you get a written quote from MJS for the trip. We used them in December and they charged us $60 for the trip from Ft Lauderdale to Miami. This was for 2 people and we shared the van with a family. For some reason we were charged double the $30 we were quoted. Did not realize until much later as the husband paid the bill and didn't question it. On the return trip, it was $13 per person with one other couple in the van.. Otherwise, very professional and excellent equipment.
Be aware SAS will transport you TO a Miami hotel, but if you want a return trip, they no longer do pick ups FROM Miami hotels making it necessary for us to book with another company. They were our first choice, but could not use them.
We ended up booking our Febuary trip with QLS. To Miami hotel, $65 for 4 people, return trip $75 for 4 hotel to FLL.
I was quoted $60 from MJS for one person from FLL to my hotel in Miami. If your hotel is in South Beach or at the MIA airport-rates are much higher. Also they do not service MIA.

I need to a shuttle from Fort Lauderdale airport to a Miami hotel. What would be my best option?

GREAT review gapearl! Enjoyed it.

What ships go to Tortola? Thanks Beth
Depends on the month, but in January the Carnival Freedom docks in Tortola.

We are coming in to Roatan on NCL in February 2014. I want to do everything but of course there is only time for one thing...what one thing should we do? Snorkel, beach, shop ? and who should we do it with?
If this is your first time, I would do an island tour that included some snorkeling!

I was surprised by the entrance fee comment. Just went and checked. Yes, $2 pp. Basically to cover costs of restrooms and showers. I would guess they give you a wristband.
Very nice spot. Pleasant beach. Lovely pool.
Do you get a chair and have access to the pool for $2 pp?

My mom is 80...and quite fit and active....how are your parent's activity levels? Have you asked them what their thoughts are? After all, it will be THEIR cruise, right?
Just because someone is older, doesn't mean they don't want a bit of fun!
They are very active for their age. We have just started talking about the various cruise lines and the pros/cons of each. Of course, ultimately it is their decision.

Cairnmom: Do not know where you are starting from, but if in the NorthEast, also consider Royal Caribbean. They have excellent service and the demographics will accommodate easily to your parents. The advantage: you drive to the ship and avoid the hassle of airports.
Long time traveler that today avoids airports @ 75
Herb
They live in FL, so that makes it easy. Several ports nearby.

Thanks! These are all very good suggestions. I will look at Oceania.
Can you carry on any beverages
in MSC Cruises
Posted
I have cruised on MSC in the past and never tried to bring any beverages onboard. Cruising again soon and wonder if you can bring water bottles or tea onboard? I know they say no, but wonder if they enforce this rule.
