  1. Thanks so much!! :D I'm sailing on the Vista's Transatlantic crossing in October and would love to see all the menus from all the different restaurants/eating places onboard. How long is your Inaugural cruise? Our Transatlantic is 13 Days (most of which are at sea), can't wait!! :D

It's a 13 day Inaugural so yeah I'll post every single menu!

  2. Certainly not trying to be. When you have three of your cruises laid out in front of you and you do comparisons on what you're getting for your money, you have to shake your head when doing so considering ..... Can't help it. I booked the Vista on one of the cheapest weeks they had, too. Not saying I want to cancel or not go but a drink package or some OBC would be nice to go along with it to level the playing field a little. Heck, maybe my price on the Vista Spa cabin is better then some others paid for it, I dunno ......

I have a Vista Spa cabin interior on deck 11 for the Inaugural (europe cruises are generally more expensive) for 13 days and it came to $1950 for the two of us.

  3. Wow LOVE Your Blog and all the info n photos. Thx so much and we'll be following it

We're on the Vista Oct 1st and can't wait

Oh I'm so happy you like the blog. It's always good to hear that someone likes the work you put your time into :)

I'll be putting lots of info about the other ports, some info about the ship itself and then after the Inaugural I'll be bombarding the world with photos and reviews!

  4. Yes, today she is back in dry dock. I think for the remainder of construction until her Maiden Voyage on May 1st. Not really sure why the dry dock, I would've thought it was just interior work that still needed to be finished and that the hull/keel would be finished. Especially since they've been out at sea for the past few days, the hull would already have to be done and seaworthy. What's the dry dock for, does anybody know?

I can't wait to sail on her in October, only 205 more days!!!! :D

    Hi Avril!

The dry dock is to keep the water off her while they give her a beautifully shiny final coat of paint before delivery!

  5. To those of you sailing on Vista's early cruises, can you please come back and report to us on the menus- I'm anxious to see if there will be any changes.

We aren't sailing till March 2017 but am already dreaming if all the possibilities she will offer her passengers.

    Thanks in advance

I'll be posting Inaugural menus on my blog at kascapades.wordpress.com

Keep an eye on it :D

  6. Love all the pics, thank you so much.:D

Surprised at the cane back type chairs in the MDR, they do not look to comfortable for a long relaxing dinner.

The chairs and deck tables there are likely just the ones for the crew working on the ship. They won't be the ones used when the ship enters service.

  7. I really don't think you can go wrong with any cruise line in the Med. It's really about the ports not the ship. That being said we are anxiously awaiting our May 24 booking on the Vista and have no hesitation about a return to Carnival to take us there!

Funny, we see it the complete opposite :D A lot of the cruise we don't even get off, we love the floating vacation resort :D

  8. So wait, I know the ship itself is new, but I thought CCL had been doing the Med for a couple years now. Not the case? The Vista's maiden voyage in May is their first run over there?

If so, then yes, so no one can know for sure.

So perhaps we could speculate, then?

I found on the Breeze med voyage that it was indeed less casual and less party goers.

This worked well for us as we're not those kind of people. We spent a lot of time on Serenity, or in the library bar and had a great time :)

  9. The ship hasn't sailed yet, so I don't think anyone from here can conclusively tell you.

Look for reviews in May and you should see updates. (First sailing is scheduled to be May 1.)

All we know for sure is that they will be using Playlist Productions for the shows.

I'm expecting Divas, Latin Nights and the Motown show.

  10. Yes. We will arrive in Venice on April 28. We are taking the train to Trieste on the 30th. My excitement can not be contained. A person would think I have never been off Peachtree Street the way I am acting. I can't wait to meet you and thank you for the blog and the wall information.

    Bobbie

    I'm super excited too!

We are flying into Venice on the 29th and then getting the train straight to Trieste where we have a hotel near the cruise port!

It's much easier for us since we're flying from London so it's a quick flight!

  11. OH THANK YOU SO MUCH. That is what I have been wanting to hear. we are going to do it ourselves. All four of us are very patient. He is so very determined. He wanted to book this cruise because of this port and the wall. I, on the other hand, wanted to see Crete.

    Are you on the Inaugural?

  12. Thank you. Do you know if Carnival will have a shuttle to Old Town? From pictures I have seen, the path on the wall seem easy to walk. How difficult are the steps that lead up on the wall? My cousin has broken some bones in his foot and has to wear a steel boot right now. He may be in that boot when we sail. For years he has dreamed of walking that wall. His wife and I have tried to prepare him for disappointment by suggesting other activities. He is a very stubborn man.

    Bobbie

    Hi Bobbie!

Our cruise docked at the port right near the Old Town so it wasn't much of a walk to get there but I do recall shuttles being used also!

In 2012, both me and my partner managed just fine and we were terribly unfit and I am a larger set guy. I remember being surprised at how simple the steps were.

When with a tour, it can be very tempting to rush to try and keep up with the tour guide but if you're going on your own, then I think you'll be just fine if you take your time and have some patience. There's plenty of room to move so you won't be blocking anyones path.

Take a camera, the view is to die for.

  13. Looks nice. I will be checking back on YOUR blog to see if there's anything new before we go on June 3rd and start adding stuff to OUR blog. :)

    I can't wait

Wonderful! I look forward to seeing your take on things! I'm very new to blogging so I'm eager to see how yours goes as well :)

    Absolutely!

Thanks so much for the compliment on the blog. I really want to make it successful and to do that I need kind people like you who enjoy reading it!

I'll be posting as much as I can while on the ship and then afterwards I'll be writing up a detailed trip report!

Stay tuned later today for my first Port Preview blog about Dubrovnik!

  16. Great to see that my wife and I are not the only Brits who have become Carnival addicts.

We have done two previous inaugurals on both the Dream and the Breeze and inaugural season sailings on both the Freedom and the Magic.

There is nothing like sailing on a new ship.

I have just realised that you were on the Breeze inaugural with us, pity we didn't meet up.

We decided this time not to do the inaugural but are booked on the 13th September sailing out of Athens.

Looking forward to reading your blog.

Yes, shame we didn't meet on the Breeze! What a wonderful cruise it was! I'll definitely be keeping the blog updated with lots of photos, anecdotes and food :D

  17. I enjoyed your blog. Thank you. My husband, cousin Jimmy, and his wife Carolyn will be on the May 1 sailing. We are very excited.

    Bobbie

    That's great to hear!

Please do keep an eye on the blog then, I'll be updating it daily with lots of information about the ports and the ship!

I think it could be really useful to get a view of Europe from someone who has always lived here in Europe! :D
