  1. We got off the connie last Thursday , we used the Internet regularly. We used it for VoIP calls, emails, browsing, video download, online games etc..... And it was much better than we have experience on a cruise ship before. What ever you use it for I'm sure you will not have a problem, we used it at various times of the day, in port, sea days etc..... No complaints from us!!!

  2. Was reading on Cdn Broadcasting Corp (CBC) web site that if there are Government travel warnings in place and you go to that Country it will effect your Travel Insurance. You may not be covered. I don't have all the facts and people should look into their own situation.

I checked our uk travel insurance the other day, it says we are not covered if FCO advise against travel. That is not the case at the moment, so I guess if the con is stops as planned in kusadasi we are ok. I guess different rules for different policy issuing countries.

  3. Yes but the last post was only about 9 hours ago.

Been to Kusadasi twice and we loved the people we met. So friendly and funny and didn't hound us to buy things from them, just wanted to chat.

We're so sad this is happening to a beautiful country with so much to offer. It's unfortunate that their economy will suffer.

BTW, I thought I read on X's site that they were replacing it with Athens.

I'd be hesitant to go there right now as well.

Constellation Kusadasi port has not been changed to Athens and we will call at Athens anyway so that would not be a replacement. Would be interests if you had a link to what you have read.

  4. Muuga is container port, never use for cruise ships and that came from the customer relations manager at port of Tallinn last year when I emailed as our eclipse sailing was showing Muuga not Tallinn. Was told ALL cruises berth by old town. Hope this helps

  5. Royal Caribbean did provide a shuttle bus, was about 20 minutes drive. CAUTION we are not stupid, never carry large bags etc.. Husband never has anything in his pockets, yet in Ravenna a guy had his hand in my husband jeans front pocket, husband didn't realise, I saw it, called out to hubby and guy walked off, this was watched by a local policeman who did nothing!! Please be careful, had hubby had a wallet rather than a handkerchief, it would have gone like many on the cruise we were on experienced.

Apart from that Ravenna was lovely to wander, visited many churches etc...

  6. Both my husband and I ( on separate cruises) have been very thankful for the services of the on board doctors ( and nurses) and from our experience we have been treated very professional and quickly and the medical staff could not be faulted and deserve every penny they earn, shame if they have been ripped off as they definitely didn't rip us off but treated us incredibly well

  7. 25th July sailing this year - considering the amount of passengers there were not huge numbers of children, definitely never saw feral teenagers like seen on previous med cruises. For me the issues was the 'seniors'.... Moaning etc... Some of them told us friends had passports stolen in Russia and not allowed back on the ship etc.... But then that's Russian immigration not celebrity so wasn't too sure why they were moaning about the cruise line, I'm sure they were looked after in Russia by shore agents. It was definitely a cruise of the more 'mature',lots of electric wheelchairs, walkers etc.....done Baltic 4 times in summer holidays can say our experience has been children and teenagers have never been a problem, they usually stick to kids club areas. Get it booked and have a fab time

  8. Just off Eclipse yesterday, deck 6 midship starboard NO noise, NO disturbance. Only maintenance witnessed sanding and renewing stair steps to deck 15 from deck 14 outside, removed the varnished handrails on deck 5 starboard, obviously sanded and re varnished elsewhere then replaced and they painted the white of same railings. Everyone coughing and sneezing everywhere was more of a disturbance!
  9. Hi, we are sailing on the Eclipse at the end of the month, visiting St Petersburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. Do we need to get currency for each country or do they accept euro's?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Gary

    Hi Gary

If you are on 25Th July sailing you may wish to check out the roll call postings

  10. London is generally a safe city, with the usual precautions as you would anywhere. as with any city there are areas to avoid or go with extra caution but these areas tend not to be frequented by tourists. I work in London and have never felt anxious, enjoy our beautiful city :)

If you are concerned about any area in particular, if you post where you are intending visiting, I'm sure they are plenty of us here to give you opinion

  11. There was a board outside indicating tourist entrance and the times. An Islamic friend advised me before visiting blue mosque to dress in clothing that was not tight / revealing hence why leggings an issue I guess. Long trousers and long sleeved top. It was April and wet when we visited so we had a rain coat on too, so dress was not an issue. I took a black pashmina scarf with me but all women tourists without a scarf were loaned a turquoise blue scarf at the door - clearly lots of women did not have a scarf with them as there were many wearing the blue scarves. The colour / fabric of the scarf was not important, just that the head was covered. The blue mosque was an amazing place and I felt so privileged to have had the opportunity to visit. We didn't do an excursion, but got a taxi from the ship and went straight to the blue mosque. There are also toilet facilities in the grounds if you need them. The view standing between the Hagia Sophia and the blue mosque was amazing. Getting up early to see Istanbul as you sail in is well worth it. The dawn view of the city was awesome. Istanbul is up there with our favourite cruise ports, enjoy!

  12. Celebrity muster in theatre, restaurants and lounges. No lining up on deck and no life jackets. By far the best experiences we have had. Royal caribbean and MSC line up on deck but always provided a chair for my husband. If you lining on deck just ask for a chair and they will provide. I understand what a nightmare standing can be, my hubby used to worry, but inform special needs team ( at same time request pier assistance) and all will be good. Enjoy your cruise :)

  13. Hi

There is a small tourist road train, leaves from outside the cafés/restaurants on the promenade. It gives a guided tour around Civitivecchia and then goes out of town to , le terme taurine (? Spelling) Roman bath house ruins. You are given a short time to explore and then back on the train to continue guided tour back to civitavecchia. It was probably about hour and a half in total if my memory served me right and it was only a few euros each. If you find nothing else, rather than staying on the ship this might be a nice outing - we enjoyed it!

  14. Upgrade to premium economy or business class - I feel claustrophobic in economy / coach transatlantic - also try a bulk head seat, I find it helps if I am not looking at the back of some one else's head. I also get medication from my doctor. I flew return london to USA this summer on my own, DH stayed home alone, followed the above and I can say it was a pleasantly surprising experience - even with the treat of a little upgrade to upper class Virgin on return ........

  15. If you check out http://www.gov.uk Italy only needs a valid passport as do other eu countries. Check with rccl to see if they will implement the ts and cs. If you are only travelling within the eu you ought to be legally able to travel but guess it depends on the cruise line. We booked a cruise which included a stop in Tunisia and when we booked they took our passport details off the file they had as the reservation staff told me we would need to get new passports as they were not valid for 6 months beyond the cruise. Have you done online check in yet? If that accepted your details surely that will be ok? Good luck. If you do need to go to a passport office for emergency replacements remember to book and appointment before going. Hope all is ok
