For many many years I have been taking a can of Glade air freshener on our cruise.   When we arrived at our hotel after the flight, there was the usual note that TSA went through our bag.  But there was another note that said they took the hazardous material out of our suitcase.   The only thing missing was the can of Glade.   Some aerosols on the TSA list are allowed.  No mention that I could find for air freshener.

I googled it and it said Glade air freshener is flammable.

I am soooo confused.  Can any of my cruise critics friends tell me what it is she wanted NCL to do differently?  Not charge her for medical care?  Is that the issue?    Is she blaming the ship for the infection?  Does she think they did something that made it go septic?

What specifically did NCL do that was wrong?

I believe she didn't want to be charged for medical care, because she didn't have the money on her credit card and she said they cut off her key card, so she couldn't buy coffee or water.

She is blaming the ship, because as one fb post said, he probably touched some place on the ship that was dirty.  He did get the injury off the ship...he fell out of bed before embarkation.

Her friend on fb said that the medical staff didn't tell the Captain when it first got infected, I guess so he would turn around and go back, so that is why he became septic.

Also, a post on fb said they are speaking with an attorney.

I wonder if, when they get reibursed by their travel insurance for medical bills, will they return the money that was donated to the?

This is all on the mother. Read her Facebook posts, especially the one that talks about all of the donations that they received.

The link to her Facebook account is in this article:

Funny, from other posts, the child fell out of bed prior to embarkation and it was just a scratch when they boarded.

Why do they need financial help when they have travel insurance?  When the travel insurance pays for the medical, are they going to refund the money people sent to help them?

The mother also reported that NCL cut them off from purchasing anything, so she couldn't purchase coffee or water.

  4. I've cruise on Celebrity and Crystal, as well a NCL.  I like the fact that NCL is very casual and that is nice for a change.  I only eat in the specialty restaurants and have always been pleased with the meal.  There is a lot of entertainment, which is good.  I added NCL into the mix with Celebrity and Crystal, because I wanted to add a lower priced cruise line, so I could cruise more, and I was suprised how much I enjoyed my first cruise with them and am now Platinum on the cruise line.  The only way you will know if you will like it, try it and make up your own mind.

You are absolutely right. I love cruising, it's one of my favorite things to do. I hope cruise lines recover and prosper from all this. All I'm doing is pointing people away from cruising with NCL. If I save one person from the headache it's a win. The problem for NCL is I'm not the type of person who is happy with only one person. 😁

Don't worry about the cruise lines or NCL, they have had a lot of bad press and they always come out of it in good shape.  Think about the Costa ship that ran aground, think about Carnival with the crap ship, NCL with the Bomb Cyclone cruise, etc.  The only people that will remember this in sixty days, is those involved, but keep trying.  The Coronavirus will probably affect their stock for a short time, but that is about it.

I am from the UK and have comprehensive travel insurance, however no UK travel insurance covers if you wish to simply cancel because you longer wish to go. We will only be refunded if someone is too ill to travel, we have a close family bereavement, the Cruise is cancelled or the Foreign Office advises against travel. NCL are putting lives at risk, and it is highly likely our itinerary will be severely compromised. A full refund or credit in these circumstances is not unreasonable.

Hasn't the UK put into effect a travel advisory to China?  If they did, wouldn't that be a reason to cancel for your insurance to give you your money back?

In this photo they have the doll’s toes on the metal frame of the window, that holds the window track in place.  If it was shut she’d only have her toes on the edge of it, see the window one pane closer.  If it was open she could have her entire foot on the track.  Either would not be comfortable.

Also if you look at the video, he can lean over through the window, where in the re-enactment he can't.  Not to mention he is holding her with one arm in the video and on here with two.

Remember, the prior quotes have regarded lack of testing of all passenger currently off Diamond Princess.  You asserted you would wish to be tested to prevent spread.  Your above response covers when such a passenger might have contacted the disease, but with the isolation procedures in place, as a passenger, you should not be spreading it now.  Hence, no need for testing of people of people lacking signs and symptoms right now to prevent spread.  Wasteful and cumbersome.  They could run out of test kits and not have them when they actually need them. The extra exams would require more contact and this could even inadvertently spread disease rather than prevent it.

As to your second paragraph: Evidently the number of times medical staff feel such testing is necessary for asymptotic guests is zero.  See above.

Obviously we have a different opinion on the subject.  Have a good day.

That's not how I see it at all. If the child was placed on the window frame, that proves Anello knew THERE WAS NO GLASS in the frame. It looks like, to me, the re-enactment does not work in Anello's favor at all. Grandpa did the most incorrect thing that could be done. Do the photos/video show Anello placed Chloe's feet on the window frame? If that is what it shows, then Anello's goose is cooked.

It works more in his favor then the video of what happened.

Ah, but as I understand if you were on Diamond Princess you and your fellow passengers be already confined to your cabin, so you would not be spreading it to others.

Furthermore, if they were to test you how many locations (oropharynx, nasopharyngeal, lower respiratory...) and how frequently would you propose you and your fellow passengers be tested?  Since the Diamond Princess passengers are, unfortunately, already confined, might it not be better to save the test kits in lest they are needed for really sick people?

I wasn't confined to my cabin when I was at the airport, when I embarked the ship, etc.

I would be tested as many times as the medical staff felt necessary and would not have an issue.

One would not expect them to test people without signs or symptoms, especially if they can screen for fever easily, ask about symptoms, then test.

If you were aboard, felt perfectly well, had a normal body temperature, would you want to be repeatedly poked, prodded, and tested, on top of everything else you’d be enduring?  Some might; many wouldn’t.  Testing asymptotic people is invasive, cumbersome, and may result in false positive results.  The test will actually have a better positive predictive value if applied to a carefully selected set of passengers than to all.

I wouldn't mind being tested if I did not have any symptoms in case I was a carrier, who didn't show symptoms, because I wouldn't want to infect others.

Part of the reason that they are using the passport origin is that people lie and would deny being in China the last 30 days. Yes, you could look at they stamps but by that time you may have brought someone into the terminal that could be infected and do you really want the checkin agents trying to decipher the passport stamps?

If you start with waivers who decides it? It is simpler and safer in the long run to make it a blanket policy with no exceptions.

I feel for the OP but just because you say you haven't been in China doesn't make it true.

A poster on here has passports from two different countries and said if he was told he couldn't get home holding one of the passports, he would simply lie an use his other one.  I'm guessing if all people were honest, the OP wouldn't have any issues.

And that is why they will still do them!

I actually think it is a great compromise.  Several folks have posted here saying they are either pro or con of the towel animals, but I don't think anyone is saying it is an outrage to stop doing them 'by default', and instead they should be by request.  I just wonder how anyone would know they could ask for them "by request".  If I wasn't reading CC, I wouldn't know.

I'd bet if towel animals are so important to someone, they would ask their Cabin Steward what happend to the towel animals and the Cabin Steward would let them know.

To everyone with travel insurance, it is always recommended that you read your policy carefully to understand what is and isn't covered. It is also important to be  truthful with your insurance provider when filing a claim. Filing false claims or making misleading statements to your provider  can be considered insurance fraud, and can be prosecuted.

Not to mention, if you already called and wanted to cancel because of the virus, they probably have that in your file.
