I believe he was on the Allure the most? But I was going to look through this thread. He looks familiar to me as well.

Very sad news with the passing of Captain Ron.  He will be sadly missed by so many.   Captain Ron’s wife kindly allowed us to post one of her favorite pictures of Ron and her note letting us know of his passing.  He will be missed.

This is Carol Tomandl, I am Ron's wife. It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I inform you that Ron died here at our home in Canada last evening. He died peacefully with me and our dog Winnie by his 
side.

Ron loved his job and wasn't afraid to say that. As captain, I know that he loved, protected and had great respect for all of the crew that traveled from all over the world and all walks of life to work on ships. 
He took his job seriously and safety was always his priority. 

Thank you for supporting him through his cancer treatment and return to work. I know it meant the world to him to get back on board and carry on. We had an extraordinary life together and I thank Royal Caribbean, in part, for 
that.

Please release a statement fleetwide informing all that he died of cancer as he did not want any speculation as to his demise.

Would love to see the port times in the Caribbean extended if she is back to normal operations. Less than 8 hours in Port is a joke. 

I rebooked for the same date on Oasis. It was the same itinerary plus CocoCay and I got my same cabin. There are only a few of the category I booked so I was happy. Price protection too but i have yet to see the new invoice. You can book any Oasis class ship. 

The Oasis is doing almost my exact same itinerary on 3/6/22 but adds Coco Cay. And is about $1K more than Allure was. I wonder if I can switch for the price I had🤔🤔🤔🤔

I was told there is no way Allure can dock anywhere in Galveston without the new terminal. I am booked for 3/2022 so I just hope Allure will be doing 7 day cruises from somewhere else in FL if not TX. I have a great cabin at a great price and don't want to rebook. 

They need to wait for the new captain. Captain Kate on Celebrity Edge was due to leave when cruising stopped. Her relief is coming from.Greece and cannot get a flight. So she and her cat stay.

I doubt we will get much confirmation soon of what they will be doing, but very happy they are moving forward. 

This is great news. I hope it is the full dry dock and not just the Azipods. Any idea??

My niece had a friend no show and they didn't do anything other than refund port charges and the shore excursions and drink package which niece paid for and they gave her OBC back. We tried to get last minute replacement but couldn't. You can do that up to 24 hours in advance. 

I was on the shorter cruise before yours and the Diamond lounge was never crowded. I went almost every evening and found a seat. I liked the outside area as well. 

The daybeds are all grouped together at the corner of the beach. Just arrive at the same time and choose 2 next to one another. anyone can stop by. There were six of us but only 2 of us bothered with the wrist band and our attendants never said a word. This was at Adrenaline beach under the zipline.

Thanks for the recommendation. we are starting to research tours like this for our Christmas cruise on the Allure next year.

I have a daybed booked for January so I will report back. Last time I got a pretty good deal on a Cabana at Columbus Cove and loved it!! Trying something different this time because I'm with a different group of friends and they are ziplining so I'll be close and can watch them.

Kids who are D+ by 18 retain that for life but only have their own points. This is clearly stated in the FAQs along with spouses having the same status regardless of someone having less points which many people clearly never bother to read. 

And kids get basically no Diamond benefits. And I have had to remind the LA or DC every time we have cruised that they should be getting a gift. They should get the internet and a photo. There is no reason these are not kid friendly gifts. It's so lame. If you have kids, ask a bartender to swipe their seapass to see what they have as it likely depends on the ship. It will not be presented on a letter in the cabin like it is for adults. 

The 7 night cruises on Majesty out of New Orleans are less than a Cabana ($800 or less for Oceanview). And most of them stop there! No way. The water park might be worth it for older kids but the littles get a free water park and the pools are all free and look very nice. I splurged on a $200 Cabana at Labadee once. I cannot imagine paying those prices but  sure many will!

We learned on our last cruise to ask for the savory bites to get them every night. I love those bread sticks too. I am looking forward to trying the new vegan menus as we have been following a plant-based diet recently (as a dietary reset and for weight loss reasons) and I am curious what they make! I have enjoyed learning this new way of cooking and have been losing weight as a result. We are pretty strict though, and don't include any oil or salt. But still looking forward to trying new things. 

If you haven't already purchased internet, it will ask you when you log in if you want your free day or your credit for a package. We have rarely used it lately since they started offering the 4 device deal for under $8 a day per device. We had a 10 night cruise last and we could stream Netflix or anything in our room in the evenings.

Many guests have been told cash tips given directly to crew cannot be kept. That they still have to put it back in the pool? Is this true?

I have always seen at least one large table in Chops. The people on the phone know zilch. As soon as you get on the ship go find the Chops maitre d and I'm sure they will take care of everything. I would be shocked if they couldn't.

It is a good idea if you both have the same number of points (she will get the points and status by default if you just go) or if you had the most points to begin with. I have more than my husband so it does him no good to cruise without me (at least that is what I presume). But if I cruise without him he still gets the points. It might work the other way too but I'm not telling him that😉 But after we got married his point total matched mine and I was Emerald when he cruised for the first time with me. My kids are Diamond as well and have 34 actual points.  Our goal is to be D+ before the oldest turns 18.
