We did just that. That was pretty much our day. Do not miss Jobson's Cove on your way back to HSB. The parrot fish are amazing!! Went back to the ship where we were docked for the night and then did the Gosling's Rum Sunset Cruise. Highly recommend!

  2. After hearing this yesterday on FB, I called RCCL CS and the rep told me there was a note on my booking (Grandeur 3/7/19) that said it's being canceled due to dry dock, and that we would be contacted with re-booking options. But she also checked 4 references and could not find anything that stated Grandeur was going in for dry dock.

My wife thinks RCCL will wait until after final payment is made to "officially" cancel it. Therefore holding our funds ransom. God I hope not and they let us no very soon.

This pisses me off because this cruise would set us up for the Diamond level for our Oasis 9/2019 European cruise. If it's canceled and we cannot find another cruise that suits us, there is no reason to stay with RCCL for that cruise.

They won't wait. They are usually accommodating and will even offer compensation if you have already purchased airfare.

  3. We are booked in 3 weeks. The confirmation says the lunch is still on the boat or a beach because the restaurant they used is gone. Otherwise nothing else seems to be different. Reviews are still great. We did the same tour with his friend Capt Sam about 4 years ago.

  4. Does Native Ways pick you up from the cruise ship terminal or do you walk somewhere to meet them? And do they provide the snorkel gear?
The walk is minimal. We are doing the sting rays, coral gardens and starfish. This is what my confirmation says: "When you come ashore, look for the person carrying the sign that says Native Way Watersports.**We are located at the back of the terminal, under the white tent, near the Tortuga store.*You may also ask for us at the Visitor Information office at the cruise ship terminal.*

On the boat, we provide free use of all snorkeling gear and vests, food for the Rays, and complimentary punch and bottled water.**After the tour, you will be given two options for drop off:*back to the pier, or, at 7 Mile Beach (where you can taxi back to the cruise ship pier at any time for $5 USD per person).*"

  5. Thanks All for your replies. I have no objection at all to prepaying which is what i thought was indicated by RCCL in their Guest Copy doc to me but what confuses me is that i will also have to pay daily compulsory grats when i get onboard . I have called RCCL myself but have been told the policy is unclear and to call back i:eek:n 2 days almost as if the haze will miraculously clear by then !
If you prepay you will not be charged AGAIN on the ship. You already paid. You can then pay anyone you want in cash if you feel like it.

  6. OP. I am sorry you had to cancel your cruise and happy for you that you received a 100% refund.

Your situation does bother me, and should bother everyone else who spends money on insurance.

Anyone who has to cancel a cruise within days of sailing generally has an unfortunate situation. That’s why one buys insurance.

    M

Exactly. Someone recently posted in another forum about his wife dying days before their cruise and royal said tough luck, chump!
