As long as your American TA can bill you in cdn $$$ then no worries but there are some who cannot (or do not)...so then your dinged with usd conversion and possible processing fees from your credit card company (if your using a Canadian visa...although amazon.ca visa card does not charge this)
Thanks for the information about amazon.ca visa not charging the fee just signed up for one had a future cruise credit for the downpayment but as a Solo cruiser there was just one US TA offering the amazing solo rate I got on my upcoming NCL Gem cruise

<sigh> I'm looking for a cruise to the Caribbean, leaving from Florida (I'm in Ohio) and am flexible to go late Sept, Oct, or Nov, but am getting frustrated trying to find something that's not going to gouge me as a solo traveler. :(Someone had posted before that Carnival told them they would be offering good solo rates in July, so that's what I'm hoping for. Other than this, I'm looking at Apple Vacations for just an all-inclusive resort. <sigh> Anybody have any thoughts or advise?

Maggie I got a great deal on a 10 day over Thanksgiving but it's out of NYC not Florida on the NCL Gem

I am planning very first solo trip and will cruise. My question is do I go through a travel agency or book myself?
I am doing the Gem solo for 10 nights November 23, 2015 with no Solo Supplement. Great deal with some freebies booked with a travel agent this time but have also booked through NCL direct.

I booked this one yesterday.
I booked it this afternoon

I booked the Gem. 799 total price with an 125 OBC. 10 days November 23, 2015.
I am looking at this one too just waiting for the vacation to be confirmed

I took it as a free bump up at no extra charge since you booked before the change over....I could be wrong....
It is a free bump but as the only thing worth much is the drink coupons and they are not given to the existing booking people the bump is not worth too much unless you plan on eating meals in your cabin... which I certainly don't on my cruise
-
i thiiiink if its past final payment the most that can happen is they can upgrade you...so if you paid 800...and got and inside and now balconies aare 800, you can get upgraded to a balcony....but i havent done ncl thats how its done on royal

I see NCL hasn't changed many years ago I was booked on the Norway and paid for an upgrade to a bigger cabin a week or so later and my new cabin is now cheaper than my original cabin... But no they wouldn't upgrade further or give any OBC. I booked direct an tried to negotiate but
no luck so they lost my business to RCCL and Celebrity for the most part...

I understand about extra cleaning. I just got off the IOS last week. Even with all the extra cleaning boarding started early and in fact cabins were ready at 1pm.
As far as I know they had not had an outbreak of noro prior to your cruise so it would be traditional cleaning and boarding so
your experience would not be the same as this cruisers. When the ask people to arrive later they are usually serious about
It.... I received that email prior to my last cruise I our case as we were following a transatlantic and they required extra time
to clear the ship. We boarded exactly when they said they would..

If your flight arrives at 9:30 by the time you land, get off the plane, get your luggage and take a cab to the pier it will most likely be 10:30-11am. Around 11am is the time boarding usually begins so just get on the ship and go to the Windjammer for lunch.
Don't worry......enjoy your first cruise!!
I think you missed the part where they have asked people not to show until 1:30 due to the extra cleaning they will want to do on the ship and as someone who is booked on the TA in 2 weeks I certainly want them to do it.

I ran into this problem about 6 years ago I usually always fly in a day early but didn't this time. I had an 8am non stop flight from Toronto that should have given plenty of time. Flight was delayed over and over due to equipment problems. The guy working for Air Canada in Toronto informed us all that they had no responsibility. I was taking a short cruise to use up vacation before a longer cruise. It was obvious by the time we left we were going to miss the ship. As I had a friend living in the FLL area i could stay with and Air Canada would also not delay my flight until I was to leave for the second cruise I went anyway. The AC guy basically told us we were to blame and were idiots to fly same day. When we landed in Miami a couple of us bought tickets to Nassau first port from American but decided to go see AC to see if they would at least get us a hotel. The women in Miami was amazing she had us void our American tickets and then she rebooked everything from flight to hotel and shuttle. It all worked out great but when I wrote to Air Canada when I returned they informed me the first man was correct and we just lucked out with
the women in Miami. Since then I try to book anything but AC even if I have to connect.

that's it in a nutshell....i book for the itineraries and the deals i find...the points are gravy...:D
I agree I have done 36 cruises and I am just Emerald with RCCL and Select on Celebrity but I have cruised almost all the lines
based on itineraries and price. I have my favorite lines but am never adverse to trying the others.

Yes that is the reason you will notice they also appear to have taken down Sungolds to they are really against the naming of TA and Facebook pages etc... That why I just put up hints for the people rather than details..
