Hi Lois, I’m just a week out from a three week stay in hospital.  I had septicemia from an infected catheter that went directly into my heart.  It was a close one…two more hours and I would have been cashing in my chips!  It took a week to clean up my blood and give me a new catheter for dialysis.  Then they found a GI bleed.  They tested me thoroughly but found nothing.  The septicemia and heavy antibiotics left me leg less.  I had to go to rehab for my third week.  I’m home for an entire ten days and I’m walking fine though sometimes with a cane.  So how was your April…LOL?

    Where are you cruising next???

CGT, OMG.........sounds like you went through some really bad s***. I hope you are feeling better soon! And I am glad you are home!

My next cruise is at the end of this month.......going on Celebrity Eclipse to Bermuda. Sailing out of New Jersey. It is my first time back on Celebrity in 7 years😮I booked a Sky Suite, all the way aft......so a nice big balcony.

My mothers recipe converted my New England husband to a meatloaf lover! 1lb ground beef, 1lb tube regular jimmy dean sausage, 1/4 cup of dry oatmeal, 3 pieces of white bread toasted torn up small, 1 egg beaten, 1/4 chopped green pepper, 1/4 chopped onion, 1 celery rib chopped, 1/4 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons yellow mustard, 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon celery seed, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well put into bread pan. Put layer of ketchup on top and 3 slices of bacon. Bake at 350 degrees for 1hour to 1hour and 10 minutes. drain grease off immediately. Slice and enjoy. Very good results with this recipe.

    Sounds really good to me!!!!!

YES! I just hosted a cocktail party

and three people came…me, myself and I!🫢

    We had Manhattans!

Hi CGT, haven't chatted with you in a long time.......how are you doing? I was in the hospital twice since the beginning the of the year😮......I had kidney stones........the Dr gave me a print out with the type of stone I had and food that is good for stones, some not so good and the "avoid and limit" these foods........seems some different seafoods are on the "limit them" list.

Anyway, they got the stones out and I feel fine.

I don't like a Manhattan but would love to come to your cocktail party anyway😃

  4. I am going on a 7 night cruise later this month. My most recent sailings have all been 10+ nights, 10-14 actually. This one is going out of New Jersey to Bermuda.  I sail solo and my "NORMAL" packing is 1 checked bag and 1 carry on.......I keep going back and forth about trying a carry on and a mid size tote bag for this cruise. I have some time to decide..........flying to NJ on May 25th, sailing on the 26th.............

On the Nova TA last November, the entertainment was very good.  There was a saxophonist in the SALT Bar, Eduardo in the Dolce Vita (piano, synthesizer and knows every tune you could possibly request, as well as a very good singer in all styles - he had been on the Wind in May 2023), and also a live combo who also played live for the four singers/ dancers in the production shows and also played in the bar before dinner.  Oh, and also a female violinist who played in the Shelter champagne bar in the evenings. All very enjoyable, and this does not even mention the featured performers who gave evening shows in the Venetian Lounge.   We had drinks with several of the speakers on that voyage who were from Broadway and television and they seemed quite satisfied with the level of talent. I share how the OP feels about off-key music, but I would urge them not to make a decision on one experience.

Hi Dawn, I agree with you and thought the entertainment was quite good😃I became friendly with a couple of the singers (from the shows).....very nice guys and I thought both had excellent voices.

  6. Hello, normally I am posting from my laptop without any issues. I don't even usually log out so when I click on CC on my address bar it goes directly to the boards.

For some reason it is asking me to log in but when I tried that it said either my email or my password was wrong.....so I clicked on the link to reset my password but never received a reply....so I tried again.....again, no response.

I sent an email to the CC help desk. Would any of the moderators know if someone is going to email me back so I can reset my password?

Thanks for any assistance.....not sure why this happened today. But I would love to be able to log in on my laptop again (I am typing this on my phone).

I’m just back from an incredible 4 week tour of Aus and NZ with a twelve night cruise on the Celebrity Edge that I’m not allowed to mention on here, oops. You’ll have the most amazing time. If you get the chance then look into the Indian Pacific rail journey. What an experience!

Hi Davey, you are allowed to mention other lines😀I am guessing you were just kidding. I am going on one of Celebrity's S class ships (older) Eclipse. Not sure if I mentioned it but I got a good price on one of the Sky Suites. It is all the way AFT with a bigger balcony so that should be nice. I will try not to do too many comparisons but I have a feeling human nature will play a roll.

I leave in 4 weeks and I am sure I will have a good time.🙂

Just off Beyond sky suite on Monday and we were pleasantly surprised that our stateroom attendant and/or butler replenished water everyday. We were prepared to bring our own from the Retreat Lounge refrigerator but never had to. We had 2 large glass bottles of Evian on the first day and about 6 plastic water bottles that were replenished daily. We left our bottle of champagne behind! Have a great cruise!

    Thank you🙂

Thanks so much for taking that trouble as I thought it might be impossible to do.  Good Grief Host J!  60,000 posts'ish.  And thanks for the kind words, which are very much appreciated.  I'll pluck up courage and ask whether it is possible to ascertain the total views? 200k?  And when was the first post?  I can't seem to find it and the 60k posts sparked interest.

I feel so much older.  Silverseas has of course changed since the  Cooler started and isn't where many of us have affectionately left it - and of course so have all of us got older and for some lucky people even wiser.  So much has happened and changed our horizons including Covid and now even Burgergate. 🙂

I must admit I thought The Cooler might last for a drink or two around the bar and might fizzle out or be shut down after a month or two.  My motivation was purely experimental to see whether an online small community to simply be congenial and now it seems to fulfill the needs of evolving and slightly changing memberships  and it is what the current inmates want of it.

My only slight disappointment is that more haven't joined who might really want to and it worries me that there must be some who visit and who vicariously  sit in a dark corner by themselves and it would be wonderful if they felt comfortable and posted. They don't have to say anything profound really - it can be about whatever is their interest.  Although I asked before that people only focused on the post rather than the poster (I think not doing say has damaged so many communities avoidably which form cliques and simply swap likes with friends)  - it would be nice if first posters received a really effusive welcome from everyone who happens to be around to encourage the nurture and friendship and say thanks for the first post in order to nurture.  Even more so in a way, I'm acutely aware as we all get older of my own good fortune to have long-suffering company but we all know that some do not and it would be great real role for the Cooler if it helped with some peoples' isolation who we may not yet know.  If some who are solo didn't feel intimidated and joined.  That isn't to decry those like me who have a partner and in my case when I do post these days all I ever talk about is my going on about bread and lunch and avoid those topics that are sort of out of bounds like the deteriorating nature of stuff around us.  I hope we can collectively do that because it would be a real achievement.

Anyway thanks again for your effort.  I'm off to bake this evenings ficelle

    Bestest

    Jeff x

The mini bar is not officially included in a sky suite. Still water is included in the beverage package so you can get a bottle at any bar or on the retreat and bring it back to your suite.

HI Mary Lou😃 I don't think Eclipse has The Retreat but I am guessing Michael's Club would have the water too.  Thanks for the clarification and I will just have to get a couple of bottles of water after I board the ship. They are not going to charge me if I keep the bottle inside the frig to keep it cold, are they?

  11. Hi,   I will be sailing on Eclipse next month and I booked a Sunset Sky Suite. I received an email with some questions about cabin amenities (pillow preference, bed, etc.....) They also asked what type of wine I wanted in the cabin....I don't care about wine in the cabin really.  The only thing that is a"must have" for me is STILL WATER.......(which was not listed on the email). So, I called the number on the email and spoke with a gal who told me she could not help me with that request but mentioned something about if it needs to be in the frig there would be an extra charge?.....Is that correct? IF I want Still Water, I have to pay extra for it? Has it always been that way? (I can't remember since the last time I sailed with X was over 7 years ago). I am not going to be using the mini bar for drinks but if water is part of that? I would have to say WOW.

I have several meds I have to take every morning and again in the evening and didn't think I would have to use the tap from the bathroom. Do suites get complimentary water?

    Thank you.
