By the way @mightycruisequeenit looks like you have the queen sticking her finger (or something else) up her nose in your avatar.  Think you could change it?  If you are going to use the queen, could it be a tad more respectful?  Thanks 🙂

Oh, I didn't make the avatar myself.  If you google "Queen picking her nose", you'll find this one, and at least a half dozen other photos of her picking her nose.   It surprised me too; I would figure she'd have a staff of servants to pick it for her. 😉

It’s already been proven that recovering from Covid only gives a very short term immunity.  In fact, some people have re-contracted it after the first time.  And, from reports, they are much more ill than the 1st time. 😔

A test is only a moment in time and if it’s too early, there might not be a positive result.

So, I for one hope that HAL DOES  mandate a vaccine for all passengers.  It’s the sensible thing to do IMO for at least the 1st 2 years until more is known or the pandemic has been defeated.

And they're already talking about how you can still get Covid even after the vaccine, and that immunity isn't guaranteed.   So why is everyone putting so much faith in the vaccine?

  3. I picked "Other".  I'm ready to cruise right now, but we're booked for a late Feb '22 cruise, hoping it's going to happen.  Also, we're not planning to get the vaccine.   If we absolutely MUST be vaccinated in order to cruise, then I guess we'll have to decide whether or not to continue cruising.

Go ahead & flame away.  I've got my royal big girl flame retardant panties on.

  4. A year ago today, we took the 16 1/2 hour flight to Auckland to get on Maasdam, for what was supposed to be 34 days of Fiji islands, French Polynesian islands, and Hawaiian Islands.  The developing pandemic cut our sailing short, but it was still the best possible way to prolong living the good life onboard, while delaying the doom & gloom that hit us in the face once we got off the ship on March 28th.

Just had a chuckle debating this with my husband. He was born in 1956, I was later. We both had measles, mumps, and chicken pox as kids and of course no proof of recent vaccinations. Your cruise is our dream itinerary on HAL. We just had the belly laugh that I would be stuck on the ship waving at Happy Hour while he was able to go and least take a few pics. Not taking anything away from the seriousness of the issue but dang shouldn't there have been a heads up prior to port arrival day?

No, you'd both be stuck on the ship.  The OP said those born before 1956 were allowed ashore.

Got vaccinated as a kid in Holland; left two distinctive but small "imprints" on my upper right arm so I carry my proof with me :classic_wink: It would have been nice if the Fijian government had given a heads up to those visiting that island country, especially to a cruise line whose Fijian port call has been known for at least one year

I wasn't aware that MMR vaccine left a mark.  Are you sure that's not a smallpox vaccine scar on your upper arm?
