  1. Steve, thanks for your info. I hope you are correct about the one day parking fee of $15. It's not a big deal, but the Crowne's web site says that the daily parking fee is assessed "when checked in" at the hotel. So I would think they would charge that extra fee of $15. Just a sneaky way of getting a few extra bucks. In any case I just booked it today for $219 plus tax of $34, which includes the week of parking while cruising. And free cancellation is a nice benefit too! Have fun on your cruise.
  2. We are going on a Princess cruise in November and driving to the port the day before boarding. I have stayed at the Best Western Plus before, but am considering the Crown Plaza this time since it's closer to the port and to restaurants. I have found that they have a park-and-go option at the Crown, but it also says on their website that they charge $15/day while checked into the hotel. So I assume I would pay the one night rate, plus the park and go rate, plus the $15 which totals about $250 +tax. Does that seem correct? I am also very picky about my car and wondered how their parking wo
  3. I am a long time cruiser on Princess, with several cruises on Holland and Celebrity. I am considering moving up to a more premium line. So, for anyone that has sailed on both Viking and Oceania, I would be interested in your thoughts. The pricing over Princess is roughly double when you compare apples to apples. I am fully aware of the differences between lines regarding excursions, drinks, airfare, etc. I am just trying to find out what the "experience" is like between Viking and Oceania so that we can pick one that best suites our wants. I have

  5. Generally speaking, is there a "better" side of the ship for a balcony cabin? Maybe one that faces the pier more often? Or one that has better view coming into or leaving a port? I am also considering the rear most side cabin on the Emerald (like C742 or C743) as I understand the balcony may be a bit larger and no one is on one side. I have been on aft facing balconies - while nice with a larger balcony, I didn't find the price premium to be worth it for us. Any suggestions?
  6. OP here. I thought I would ask about the laundromat option as I read that most river ships take the passengers laundry off the ship to wash - that they have enough to handle with sheets, towels, etc. Not sure if that is true, but if it is, I thought there might be an option for the passenger to do it themselves at 1/10 the cost. I also could see an entrepreneur in one of the port towns opening a laundromat by the docks with hundreds of potential clients walking by every week. As far as time, it's an hour, maybe 90 minutes to wash two loads once in a three week trip, no big deal.
  7. We are planning a 15 day Grand European cruise on Viking. I know they don't have laundry machines on board for passengers to use. Is there potential to take laundry off the boat and find a laundromat close by in one of the ports. With the pre and post hotels, we will be traveling for about 3 weeks and would prefer not to pay the normally outrageous prices of laundry service on the ship. Second question. Any advice on the post hotel packages? Trying to decide between Prague and Budapest. The price difference is $400 pp for just one more night in Prague ($399 pp for 2 nights in
