Did you have any travel insurance? If you did, you should be covered for any non VO expenses as a result of the cruise cancellation. Viking is only responsible for refunds from any booked Viking service. If you used Viking Air, Viking should have made the air changes to get you back home, if you booked your own air then your insurance would cover any changes to the itinerary.

Yes, I have travel insurance but they do not cover the travel expenses because government decisions and restrictions on free movement are not covered. These are exclusions and limitations.

  2. We were onboard Viking Star when Viking made the decision to suspend operations of all cruises.

It was day 3 of the voyage, and the rest of the 12 day cruise was canceled.

Arrived 1 week ahead of schedule back in Tilbury and had to make new travel arrangements to get back home.

We did not book a Viking cruise package.

Guest relations onboard told us we could make new travel arrangements and they will refund it later.

We needed to contact Viking Customer Relations once we got back home about this. That's what I did.

Viking's respons ; With regards to any further out of pocket expenses, as the cancellation was a result of circumstances outside of our control, we can no consider any compensation payable in respect of any other expenses that guests may have incurred separately with third parties and which did not form part of the cruise package"

Anyone in the same situation ?

  3. Disembarking in Tilbury on Viking Star.

Catching the train in Ebbsfleet at 1:15pm.

Travel between Tilbury and Ebbsfleet railway station is about 30 minutes.

I think the best thing is to disembark as late as possible and do not wait several

hours at the station. What do you think ?

What's the latest you have to leave the ship ?

  4. Normally embarkation on most of the cruise lines is around 12 noon so you can have lunch on the ship.

On documents for our Ponant cruise, embarkation time is between 4 and 5 pm.

Is it really from 4pm ?

What is your experience about this ?

    Thanks

  5. Done several Oceania and two Crystal Cruises. Like food on both cruise lines.

Taken a Seabourn cruise 3 years ago and thought food was similar in quality.

Heard from friends who sail Seabourn all the time that food on their last cruise was not as good

as it has been, and service was not that great. They will change cruiseline next time.

Thinking about taking a 14 day Caribbean cruise on Odyssey next year.

Is food quality on Seabourn not as good as before ?

    Any thoughts ?

  6. I too would be interested in hearing about cruisers' experiences on the shorter (7 day) Caribbean cruises with Seabourn. I have taken two cruises so far with SB, and both were 2 weeks long. I found the atmosphere to be mature and civilized, whilst also extremely fun and enjoyable. However, definitely NOT party boats which I appreciated.

I wonder if the 7 day Carib. cruises, even on SB, would attract a younger crowd who might want more of a partay-partay atmosphere??? SB used to offer some longer 10 to 12 day Carib. cruises in previous years which I think might be too long for the younger folks, but for the 18-19 Carib. cruise season, they are just going with the 7-day voyages.

Any thoughts on this from experienced SB cruisers???

Wondering about the same. Any thoughts ?

Thinking about taking a 14 day cruise in the Caribbean next March (2x 7 day voyages)

  7. Looking for a shore excursion for next month.

Unfortunately for the tour I wanna book there is only 1 spot left instead of 2.

Any recommendations on what to do ?

Should I book 1 spot, and will Viking try to add one more spot ?

    How about Cancellation policies ?

  8. We were there 10 years ago. There was a tour operator waiting at the pier. His name was "Stefan".

    Only know his name.

Going back next March, I wonder he's still doing tours. He did a great tour, stingrays, shark feeding and motu bbq.

Found that is was Stephan from Mata Tours.

Don't know if he's still doing tours ??

  9. I will be visiting next week off a cruise ship and don’t like my chances of Bruno having room for me in his tour. Are there other operators when you get off offering similar tours?

  10. Available but not guaranteed because the staff volunteer and there may not be enough to handle the number of children on board.

You should go right away when you board to guest relations to put in your request.

They always send two people for safety's sake.

Any idea what the price for a babysit will cost ?

It's for the end of November, so maybe there will not be many children onboard.

  12. We are booked in Aqua Class.

Our friends wanna join us on the same cruise. They have a 3 year old child at time of sailing.

It seems that aqua class cabins only accommodate 2 persons and not 3, so they cannot be in aqua class.

They can book a regular balcony cabin, but we cannot have dinner together in BLU.

The solution is of course is that we can go with them to the main restaurant, and that's something we consider.

But they really wanna book Aqua Class as well. I don't know if this is possible ?

Any tips and suggestions are welcome !
