  1. I love the Beyond the Podium programs, but some presenters aren’t really that interesting.  Brent Nixon happens to be a favorite of mine and I never miss his presentations.  I thought the naturalist on the Iceland to Boston cruise this August was not nearly at his level.

It was through their chat.  The first response was "we don't know" and I asked if Celebrity didn't know what was happening on their ships, could they point me in the direction of someone that did.  We shall see if it comes true.

I hope your info is correct as I will also be on the New England/Canada sailing of September 8.  It was bad enough not having access on the Greenland cruise, it will be awful to have the same situation again!  My friend, who is joining me for this itinerary, is looking forward to sailing up the St. Lawrence Seaway and watching for whales.

  3. I was on the August 16 Iceland to Boston cruise - I sent an email to the Executive Office at Celebrity the day I got home.  Two days later I received an email from Celebrity saying they had tried to contact me by phone (my number shown was incorrect) and gave me the name and phone number of an Executive Representative.  I called her the next morning - it was obviously someone working off premises and English was her second language.  Conversation was pretty much a “sorry and we’ll pass on your concerns to the appropriate department”.  Frankly, I didn’t expect anything else from them.

  4. Don’t expect a lot of color until early October - I’m in CT and our color peak is usually around Columbus Day weekend - Quebec/Maine is about a week before us.  I’ve done the 11/12 night on Celebrity several times and enjoyed most of the ports very much.  Halifax was one of my favorites - besides Peggy’s Cove lots of other interesting things in town - botanic gardens, the Citadel, cemetery where Titanic victims buried - the boardwalk area where you dock is nice to stroll through with restaurants and stores that are fun to stop in.  Overnight in Quebec is beautiful, especially if you have a balcony room facing the Frontenac.  Very European and quaint - wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk uphills.  A friend and I are doing this itinerary on Silhouette this year in September and looking forward to it.

  5. Edinburgher, appreciate your posts!  First trip to Iceland/Greenland and was getting disappointed about the ice situation - recent posts are encouraging.  Will be boarding Celebrity Eclipse on August 16.

  6. I cruise to Bermuda every year and I much prefer cruises before mid-June because of the crowds.  This year I did Eclipse over the Memorial Day weekend - still tough to get a seat at the Solarium, but I often stay on board on the day we dock and enjoy an almost empty solarium.

  7. Another vote for S class over Beyond.  Just got off of my first cruise on Beyond - not a fan!  Not a comfortable seat in the place (except the casino😆), so overcrowded it was not enjoyable.  I sailed Apex once and felt the same way about it, but my niece and her husband wanted to try it.  They liked the things I hated, like the IV; we all agreed we liked the four dining rooms.  I would book it again if it was an itinerary I wanted, but not my favorite.  Looking forward to my Greenland cruise on Eclipse in less than 2 weeks.

  8. I think she’s been too busy today responding to all the complaints regarding the Blue Chip changes - social media has been hopping about it and it sounds like she’s been receiving plenty of unhappy emails.

  9. Off the Eclipse last Sunday and there were still footstools on our Concierge cabin balcony.  The furniture could definitely use some freshening - dining room chairs almost all had pretty visible wear on the arms - one area on Deck 4, just before walking into the casino, smelled mildewed or musty.  Would not stop me from sailing her, staff was great; I have two more cruises on her this year.

  10. I’m doing Symphony in October, too.  May be solo if my friend can’t join me.  I sail solo a lot and am very comfortable doing it - plenty of people to talk to if you want to be social and your day is determined by you.  I prefer Celebrity because of the smoke free casino and smaller ships, but it’s hard to turn down a comped junior suite for a sailing that I can drive to.  I think you will have a great cruise!

  11. Enjoyed your report - done Alaska three times and I hate the way the party is over in Victoria☹️.  The last Alaska cruise, we took the ferry over to Victoria and spent 3 nights at a wonderful inn.  Managed to enjoy Butchart Gardens, farmer’s market, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc.  Extended our cruise vacation in a wonderful way.

For some strange reason, Celebrity no longer sends me surveys so I don’t have to worry about those 10’s!  Thanks for sharing your adventures.

  12. I cruise several times a year and sail solo about half the time.  I enjoy my solo cruises as much as I do the cruises where a friend or relative joins me.  I am fine dining solo, but if it makes you uncomfortable, you can ask to be seated at a shared table.  I do carry a book or tablet with me as I like reading if I’m eating at the OceanView.  People on cruises are usually very friendly, so you can be as social as you like.  Best part of being solo is that you make your own schedule and only do events and excursions that appeal to you.

  13. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures and wonderful pictures!  I’m sad that tomorrow there won’t be any chapters to look forward to.  Your comment about mince and tatties made me look up some recipes for it and I’m going to be trying it!  Safe flight home and I look forward to your future travels.
