  1. Sailing on the Breeze next week. (Woo!! Hoo!!)

Are you still able to get the motion sickness medication from the pursers (sp) desk?

Does anyone recall the name of it?

    Thank you

I have never asked for it before but did see somewhere on here that it was $3.00 each. Go to the pharmacy or local box store and get you some Bonine or the generic of it. Not expensive and I start taking it 2 days before cruise an continue till 2 days after because of sea legs. I don't use Dramamine (even non drowsy) makes me very sleepy. I have also heard you can purchase Meclazine from the pharmacy with no prescription at a very cheap rate.

  2. Hey y'all!

I'm new to the site and I'm about to take my husband and our children on their first cruise. I'm hoping they love it and I'm already starting to look at cruises for next spring break. I realize people like to plan ahead (and when the deposit sales are rockin', it would be hard NOT to book), but I don't understand the need to reserve one of a connecting set of cabins. I checked 4 ships last night and I couldn't find ANY connecting cabins available for a sailing more than a year away. I could get one, but the other side of the connection was already booked. CRAZY! I learned here that in many cases I can get a balcony and have that opened to create a passage, which helps, but I don't understand what the draw is for connecting cabins. I found one thread where people were raving about having an extra door knob for hanging swimsuits

Is there a swingers' cruising "thing" involving connecting cabins I should know about?

    Thanks!

LOL, swingers cruising thing? I have never heard it put that way. Best thing to do is call Carnival and ask to be assigned to a PVP (personal vacation planner). There is no charge for their services and they will help you to locate some available connecting cabins on a ship. They have access to what cabins are available where you only get to see up to 10 per area/deck you are looking at on the website. Best of luck and hope you can avoid the swingers.

  3. We are thinking about taking my mom who needs a wheelchair on the Victory doing a b2b. The room that is handicap is 1040. There will be my husband, myself, and my 90 year old mom. I looked at the floor plan and can't figure out where they will put the third person. Has anyone stayed here and can give us some information would be great. Thanks.:)

Room 1040 is not a handicapped room according to plans on another site. And it does not look like the interior rooms that are handicapped are equipped to handle 3 people unless it is maybe room 1001 on the front of the ship. It has a sofa and king bed with handicapped bathroom. The best thing to do is call Carnival in the morning and ask to speak to the Special Needs department. They are really great about helping you organize what you will need.

  4. What is a fly snooze cruise?

You fly down and the hotel van picks you up and takes you to hotel. You snooze for the night then they take you to the port the next morning. After the cruise they pick you up and the port and haul you back to the airport all for one inclusive price. No hassle of having to get a car or having to get services on your own.

  5. Love reading these boards but so tired of people complaining about the "quality" of the MDR food on Carnival. THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FINE DINING FOOD, people .... Perhaps some people just need to adjust their expectations? I consider the MDR food to be "Banquet Quality" ... which is as good as anyone should expect ... its not possible to push out thousands of "fine dining" meals in such a short amount of time. With my "Banquet Quality" expectations ... I am rarely disappointed with anything I get in the MDR, and If I am, I just order something else. Better yet I typically order multiple entrees and starters anyway and usually like at least one thing they bring. :)

If you truly want an elevated food experience ... then simply factor an extra $245 into your cruise fare and book the Steakhouse every night for your 7 night carnival cruise -

.....And before you start saying that "This line or that line has better food than CCL" ... consider that "those lines" also charge significantly MORE to book your cruise than carnivals fare + $35/day for the steakhouse.

Thank you for letting me rant. :)

Well I just want to say it first. Looks like someone ate jerk chicken for lunch. I actually am just joking around and please don't take offense to that. I think most of the food on Carnival is very good and for the price I pay for a cruise I always feel like I get my moneys worth in entertainment, food, and relaxation.

  6. I just booked the Couples Pass for $229 for an 8-day on the Vista. For some reason, it says "one guest" next to it, with my name but not my husband-to-be's name. Since there was an individual pass as well, I'd fully assume that couple was one price for the both of us, but I'm a little concerned it only says my name.

    Can someone assuage my fears?

A friend purchased a couples pass for her and her daughter and purchased a single pass for me as a birthday gift on upcoming cruise. It does not have her daughters name listed and I don't think that there is a problem, just the way they have the system set up when you purchase online. As for the Vista, I saw a post (few above yours) that said the spa is small and there is no tholossotherapy pool. I would have thought a ship that big would have the pool.

  7. Nancy, I have been trying to book this and give CCL my money all day. They said I cannot do on the phone, is that correct? I cannot find anywhere and have followed all the directions on how to get to the thermal spa pass. When I click on the picture for the $20 off pass or whatever it is, it takes me to the full line of services for the spa?? I just want to give my money to CCL LOL

I am sailing in February, is it too early for me to purchase? Thank you SO SO much for any help!

If you go to the bottom of the page with the services you will need to click on page 8 to get to the thermal spa passes. If that does not work try to clear out your cookies and try it again. I read where you had gotten an error file so that may fix it. Good luck.

  8. Thank you Cdavid for not gaining up on me! have you ever taken the Sunshine?

I was on the Sunshine September 2015 and loved it. A few things to know, it is an older ship known as Destiny and it was refurbished and name changed. They took out some of the venue area and made it into cabins thus cutting down space especially in the lounge where they have the comedy show. Make sure to show up early in order to get a seat if you wish to see either show. The early comedy is PG and the later is adult rated. I have heard people show up about 1 hour prior to get a seat. Next thing is seating for the buffet. After you get your plate go back out to where the elevators are and you will see a sign that is for Havana Bar. Head in there and you will usually find a spot to sit and eat. The Italian restaurant is also located in there and is free for lunch. It is $15 for dinner and requires a reservation and has a different menu. Also in the Havana you can slide in there during the morning hours and enjoy the omelet station. This is great for the first part of the trip but will eventually become a bit more crowded as cruisers catch on during the week. There is a 3 level Serenity area that is adult only. Pool and waterfall and some hot tubs. On level 5 there is a tasting bar that opens around 5 in the evenings and has something different every night. If you do Your Time Dining you will need to go where the tasting bar is to sign in for your table each night and they will either send you on down for dinner (deck 3) or give you a pager. Wait is not long. Next there is a steakhouse on board. It is $35 a person (reservations required) and it is wonderful. Like someone else said, order some items from the fun shops under your cruise manager and have them delivered throughout the cruise. I personally don't because there seems to be food everywhere. Enjoy your trip. I have thought about doing NCL cruises but I just have not been able to justify the cost difference.

  9. I always wondered what would happen if we were to have a medical emergency at sea God forbid. Anything can happen at any time, you just never know. Can anyone tell me how this works. We always have insurance just in case. I know this is a very personal subject but if anyone can tell what their experience was I would appreciate it. I am not trying to be morbid just want to understand what would happen and what the procedures are. Thanks

Even though you have insurance (I always do as well) you need to know that it is not normally accepted as payment for services in a foreign country. Most of them will require payment before they will treat so make sure you have a credit card with a good amount of credit on it. Then you have to file your claim with the insurance company once you are home.

  10. Hey friends,

We usually bring cash with us to load our S&S accounts, but since discovering the Verizon gift cards, we are now bringing lots of those along with us. I'm wondering if you can load them onto your account and then play with that money in the casino, or is there some restriction against gift card money being spent there?

Sorry if this is a dumb question! Thanks.

    -Amanda

Yes, you can use them. Once they load them on your account it is the same as cash. Just make sure to cash any remainder out when your in the casino before the cruise ends. Otherwise they won't give you the difference back at guest services. Any remaining amount on the last day willl be sent back to you in 2 to 3 weeks on another gift card. If the remaining amount is under $10 they will donate that to St. Judes.

  11. I haven't heard of someone missing sailaway from home port but catching the ship in the next port. To make sure there aren't any issues with this I'd have your friend call Carnival Customer Service and find out what they need to do if they miss the home port. I'd hate for them to fly to the next port only to be denied boarding. I'm not saying that'll be the case, I just would be more comfortable confirming it if it were me.

As long as they have passport/or other qualifying paperwork they won't be denied boarding. But the plane ticket is their expense and I don't believe any trip insurance will cover that. I read somewhere a couple of years ago that you also incur a charge of $300 for boarding at a different port. I am not sure if that is true.

  12. I am going out of Port Canaveral in Sept and I didn't see any check in time options. Maybe because I was able to get FTTF.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Sorry, I meant to tell you to check under your online check-in. We sail in April and have a suite and FTTF.

  13. I'm going back and forth between the Magic and Vista same itinerary, same date just different ship and port.

I have never been out of Miami (I think that is where Vista is) but I love Port Canaveral. Things just seem to go smoothly. Good luck with your choice.

  14. Now that the new stagger check in has started at Port Canaveral I would like to find out from someone that has done this as to what time the terminal opens for check-in. We will have a rental car and need to know what time to turn it in and hop on the shuttle to the port.

  15. Is there any way to get the bacon crispy? everytime its sort of wet noodely

    lol

Put it on a lounger by the pool, you know the ones that are being guarded by a book. Let it sun bake for 2 hours. Personally I think the hog farmers are keeping the bacon for themselves.

  16. Go to you tube dot com and search for carnival cove balcony and you will find a video. The pics earlier do dot represent what one looks like. They are on lower decks, midship. Some say they hear a lot of banging from waves but your close to the water. Also deck and chairs are normally damp from sea spray. I agree with others, 4 is way too many in one too unless its family with small kids. The L-shaped rooms are same size of regular balcony but have a 75 sq ft balcony instead of 35 sq ft and most only sleep 2.

Sorry, I misread what the OP had written. I thought they were looking for info on Cove balcony. I'm just going to blame it on lack of sleep right now.

  18. DH enjoyed the braised ox tongue both weeks we were on the Magic. It was one of the rare finds and he loved. Other apps we found - fried oysters, cured salmon, and duck.

We had lots of seafood including lobster twice, steaks, pasta and for the frsit time ever - pork chops. We tried them because one of our nearby table mates raved at how good they were and she was right.

I had bitter 'n blanc, creme brulee (2x) s'mores parfait (2x), banana bread pudding, chocolate penna cotta, cannoli (2x in the Italian restaurant), and a few more in the 15 days. Only had WCMC once, which was a first for me. I decided I wanted to try as many new things that cruise.

I was on the Dream in November and they had the Fried Oysters. My BIL talked me into trying them since nothing was appealing to me. So if any of you happened to look over and see a woman with tears in her eyes trying not to gag that was me. Those were the worst things I have ever eaten. No where to spit it out so I swallowed it and started choking down bread. Everyone at the table was laughing at the face I made. Then topped it off by going to the steakhouse and they served me a complimentary chefs dish that was raw beef with horseradish ice cream on top. Who the heck thinks of putting ice cream and horseradish together? Let alone put it on raw beef. Everything else I tried was good so I did enjoy the AT.
