  1. Just to pass on Celebrity giveth and they take away. The new CC benefits are in place, please note they have removed from the web site the entry about getting an upgraded breakfast menu.

    Hi --

We were recently on the Connie (CC) Rome to Venice, and although we'd lost some of the old perks, the upgraded breakfast menu was still in place. We enjoyed it a number of times :)

  2. Are the desserts and gelato in the coffee cafe included to or do you have to pay for those?

The pastries & desserts @ Café Al Baccio are complimentary for all guests. You do pay for the Gelato - although the Affogato (gelato w/ espresso) is included in the Classic beverage package & very tasty :)

  3. Yes, I'd appreciate hearing what you think. May be you could relate this to your trip on Eclipse? If you can remember that!! :)

The Connie was Fabulous. The crew were some of the happiest & friendliest we have ever come across. Food & new friends were great. Our MED trip Rome to Venice was unique & very port intensive... Only 2 Sea Days. I would have to say the # of passengers was fine for the ship. We never once felt like it was crowded or packed.

You asked for a comparison to the Eclipse - the Eclipse was great as well. It's newer w/ more bells & whistles. I'd say find the itinerary you like & your cruise will be great. We truly enjoyed ourselves on both the Connie & the Eclipse. We'll be back on the Connie again in January.

  4. hello who has cruised the connie lately or other and can confirm that cafe al bacio classic can pay for some of the coffee? which ones if so and also are the desserts at cafe al bacio free at all? website says cafe al bacio alla carte pricing then at the bottom it says "enjoy pastries complimentary"

i called today and was told yes its included in the classic - lavazza coffee... then no nothing is included all extra....

so im writing to you as the call center is useless and all i get is wrong information and i know for a fact you guys are more knowlegable then people who answer phones for celebrity.

    :confused::confused:

Hi -- we were recently on the Connie & definitely enjoyed the coffee drinks with our Classic Bvg PKG!! it was great. All coffees & coffee drinks were included.

  5. We booked our next cruise for 2017 while on board Reflection recently. This was a 10 night Med & Adriatic out of Barcalona on the Constallation. We're particularly happy with the itinerary but have some concern about the ship.

We're still relatively new to cruising with the 4 we've done all being with X and all on Solstice class ships. We want to keep with X, and ideally would choose Solstice ships, but our available dates limits this somewhat.

Are we likely to be disappointed with Connie? Having been spoilt by our experiences on Reflection and Eclipse. I appreciate the millennium ships have been "solsticised" but they seem considerably smaller with less open deck space etc.

When I enquired how old Connie was the OB future cruise agent told us that She had just come out of another minor upgrade/refit with them putting grass on the sports deck and converting this to an outdoor cinema area. Anyone know if that's really the case? Any photos?

Would be be interested in people's thoughts on this.

Hi - we'll be cruising on the Connie in the Med in just over a week. This will be our first cruise on her. We'll be happy to share our observations with you upon our return - if no one else has by that point.

  6. Concierge for us, on our trip next week, was available as a $100 upgrade from Ocean View to Concierge. Nice to have the balcony & the 5X Captain's Club points - which puts us at the next level for our Asia trip. And on the Constellation - our room/balcony will be slightly larger.

Our first time w/ Concierge was a holiday cruise a few years back on the Eclipse. it was the best deal for a balcony cabin at the time - we enjoyed it!!

There is a right cabin fit for everyone - our decision is usually value dependent - if we get the right cost/benefit ratio we are happy in any cabin... Of course we've never been in a suite :)

  7. Yeah, you get the same lousy exchange rate selling back - somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 Euro to 1 Dollar. You get screwed coming and going. :D

We get our Euro from the European ATM's and whatever is left over, save for the next trip.

We too generally have left over Euro's - which become a starter fund for our next trip. The other thing we like to do is shop in Duty Free w/ them - sometimes we find great regional food items to take home & other times we don't. The nice thing about buying food items, @ the airport as you depart, you haven't carted them all over on your trip!!

  8. As Alaskans -- we had a great time on our cruise from Whittier (Anchorage may be how it's listed) to Vancouver!! Because of the value at the time - we selected an inside cabin & never regretted it. The best place to watch the glaciers is from the top deck hot tub - with a cocktail in your hand. We were never cold & met a fabulous couple from Michigan - who spent much of the time in the hot tub with us :)

The funniest thing we used to hear was WOW... even the Alaskans are impressed... I just have to say - who wouldn't be impressed on this cruise!!

On a separate note - we did the balcony for the Panama Cruise & it was fabulous too!! Relaxing on the balcony was great - but we also spent much time up top. Ultimately - choose the cabin which works for you and enjoy yourselves.

  9. Depends on the cruise and the people, nearly everyone on our roll call wants our cruise to remain going there.:D

Well stated Mic - we certainly are hoping to visit Kusadasi on the 04/27 trip.

In 2011 we were on another Mediterranean Cruise - which was supposed to go to Egypt. Unfortunately for us the Arab Spring Uprising in Egypt happened the day before our arrival in Egypt. Our ship did an abrupt turn North & we headed to Istanbul instead. For an unplanned 2-Day visit it was pretty great. The most challenging part of it was - we were truly looking forward to the warmth & sun of Cairo/Alexandria. We arrived in Istanbul in the the snow :)

We'd love to visit Kusadasi - but will be happy with our trip regardless. Only 2 1/2 weeks until we depart Alaska... On to the fun in the sun!!

  10. Last Dance -

We believe Europe is still fabulous & safe. We have been visiting Europe since the early 90's (both land & cruise). We are in our early 50's and are headed back out in 3 weeks for Celebrity's Rome to Venice cruise. Hoping we'll stop in Kusadasi - but if Celebrity chooses not to - we'll enjoy ourselves somewhere else.

We have a previous experience w/ changing ports - unfortunately our 2011 trip to Egypt was abruptly changed to Istanbul - when the Egyptian conflicts escalated the day before we were set to arrive. Had psyched ourselves up for the Egypt trip including hot weather & sun. We made an abrupt turn north to Istanbul & arrived to falling snow. Although it was chilly - had a fantastic trip there. Would have only been better had we had the opportunity to plan the stop in advance. Egypt is still on the list and we'll make it there one of these days!

When younger did the traditional England, Scotland, Ireland tour. Then spent time traveling through Italy - Milan to Piedmonte, Tuscany & Chianti via rental car... Love the Auto Strada! Stayed in winery's and small villa's we found on the way - fabulous trip. We've taken a couple of previous Mediterranean cruises, including Malta & the Canary Islands. We also spent about 2 weeks touring Barcelona & the surrounding regions. Truly enjoyed Cava country.

I'd agree with other's in that we are probably more adventurous than some and tend to be aware of our surroundings :) In addition, I've been to all 7 continents and John's been to 6.

Wishing you a fabulous trip and enjoy life while you can!!
