  1. DH and I were on the B2B Jan 23rd and Feb 2nd on Riviera. Our documents showed Roy as CD. I knew Roy from a cruise a few years back when he gave the enjoyable spanish lessons but I am not sure of his other responsibilities, but he was not the CD.

When I got on board and talked to David Peterson I asked why Roy was not the CD as per documents. David said that he was going to Head Office but was asked to be CD for a few more cruises as Roy had been working straight for 8 months and had not had a break. That is the reason that Roy was not CD for the last few cruises.

I hope this is correct. It is what David Peterson told me directly.

  2. This has probably been covered, but could not find anything doing a search.

A few months ago a man posted that his wife thought very highly to one of the stylists in the hair salon on the Riviera. He also mentioned that many others felt the same way. Do not remember the name of the stylist and as it was not a common name, not sure if it is male or female.

Does anyone remember this stylist and what was the opinion of most of the people. Subjective, but what did people think. Were they really happy with their hair?

Not sure if I should have new style and cut before I go or have in done on board. I imagine that one could use OBC in the salon.

Does anyone remember the cost of a style and cut. What is the common amount for a tip. Is it added on and paid out of the OBC or paid in cash at the time.

Any comment would be helpful. Thanks.

  3. Also, would someone be able to estimate the cost of taking a taxi from Miami airport to the Esplendor Hotel Breakwater South Beach (Ocean Drive and 10th Street). Also approximate cost from the hotel to Port of Miami. Also does anyone know if this is a good choice for hotel. Booked already but just wondering.

And another question, does anyone from Miami know the cost of the municipal bus (while we are in Miami for a few days) - cost for senior and also cost for adult. Anything like a card for multiple use during our stay? Maybe I should start a new thread for this.

    Thanks.

  4. Have not been on Oceania for a few years. Cruising in January. Would someone please refresh my mind as to which soft drinks are usually stocked on board. Usually drink tea and coffee but sometimes like a cold drink.

DH drinks coke or gingerale once in awhile. The real Coca-Cola brand. Is that usually available? Do they have Canada Dry Ginger Ale, or is it another brand? Do they have a cream soda or Hires Root Beer. Those are the 2 that I like.

Canadian so not sure if they stock Canada Dry or Hires brands. Not familiar with US brands of soda either.

Also, what have people requested and were they on board? Might give me a few ideas that might be good to try.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  5. I also was not really pleased with the snorkelling in Barbados. Not that impressed. I will not snorkel at that port again.

Swimming with the turtles was fun but I think there were only 2 turtles and about 50 snorkelers crowded around. They came up far enough for me to touch them with my feet. Slippery back.

  6. Nice to know where to get the mattress, however, they do not ship to Canada.

Maybe the luxurious sheets would give me a bit of the mood. Does anyone know where the sheets and duvet, etc. can be purchased.

    Thanks for any assistance.

  7. I have completed a SEARCH for this and can not seem to find what I was looking for in all of those posts.

I remember a Canadian who posts regularly enough so that I identify the name (however the name has escaped me) and she mentioned the insurance that is best for Canadians living in Ontario. Would she please, or anyone else for that matter, post the company that she said was good. I have never had to purchase this before as our group (work) health insurance covered out of country. No longer available to us. Taking a 33 day trip and then a 14 day trip a month later. Healthy 69 and 73 year old couple.

    Thanks to all who answer.
