  1. The Maitre'D is always available for a couple of hours to everyone afternoon of boarding. There is always a big line up for him.Feel to be fair to Princess if one does have dietary restrictions it is better to have Traditional Dining were one has same Head Waiter and waiters each nite. That is just my personal opinion feel it makes it easier when they know one.:)

You get the same head waiter taking your order when you do anytime dining. They come to your table and take your order I have now done anytime 4 times and it is now my preferred option.

  2. Our son who is sharing a cabin with us on our next Princess cruise would like to purchase the drinks package as he believes he drinks enough coffee and alcoholic drinks to justify it. My wife and I wouldn't want as for medical reasons I hardly drink and my wife doesn't drink much.

My question is can one person in a cabin just have the package and if they can when we are in bars together can he buy drinks for us as we usually drink in rounds when we are in a group?

  3. I think the comedians seem to be stuck in a kind of time warp. They are very pleasant and gentlemanly, but do seem to be 'old school' . Our recent one made me laugh, but there were lots of references of meaning to older generations and their kind of humour that I didn't quite get it a lot of the time.

I said similar about the comedians a few months ago and suggested P&o try some of the younger fresher comedians now on the comedy circuit. The comments I got basically said that people on P&O don't like the new, younger comedians. Most I suspect had not seen these comedians live but based there views on TV game shows.

  4. I have been diagnosed 11years and in that time done about 17 cruises with Princess. They have improved year on year the quality and choice of foods available. I have never failed to get gluten free on an excursion any where in the world. Just tell the excursion desk as early as possible and let the guide know who you are as someone once stole my food because they had not ordered gluten free but expected the maître de to pass it onto the excursion desk.

  5. Before we do our trans-Atlantic next April we are visiting friends in the Tampa area. They have told us they are a long way from the train station and you have to use a bus for part of the journey to Fort Lauderdale. Other than hiring a car and driving is there a bus or limo service anyone can recommend door to door to a hotel near the cruise terminal.

  6. So of Carnival's 3 remaining R class ships, Ocean Princess will be sold to Oceania in March 2016, and Adonia now has a rather strange new role, leaving only Pacific Princess still cruising normally, but for how long.

Clearly small ships no longer fit into a mainstream cruise lines operation, and one has to wonder whether even Arcadia is likely to be kept operational within P&O's fleet in the long term.

Holland America is now the only Carnival brand still building ships less than 100,000 tonnes, although AIDA has only recently moved into the big ship class.

If you really want a small ship cruise the options are quickly moving towards the 6 star luxury cruise lines.

    Or CMV

  7. Thanks, she will have to make do with the gym then :)

E-mail P&O and ask them. I have asked at couple of onboard Gyms and the staff always say they would run them but none of them onboard that particular cruise are qualified to do so.

  8. Anyone been in cabins L101 to L104, how obstructed is the view and what is the cabin layout. I have looked at the pictures but would like a view from someone who has actually been in these cabins before I book one.

    Thank you

  9. There is a simple solution that could help with the sunbed problem. Remove about 25% of them and replace with twice as many CHAIRS

Shock, horror  chairs:confused: People don't sit on chairs anymore, they are for the wrinklies or those who are horizontally challenged and need a winch to get back vertical once lying down:rolleye

    MORE CHAIRS

I'm one of those who need a winch if I get down on a sun lounger, so I look for chairs but rarely find them. I'm on Adonia next week anyone know if there are any near the pool.

  10. We always take them home, and the chockies from off the pillows. Eating them at home is like taking a bit of the cruise back with you.

But the biscuits appology you getnow hardly rewards the effort.

    David.

Good job I have to take my own as I'm a ceoliac but my wife will be disappointed as she loved a p&o biscuit with her first cup of tea.Should we do the opposite to some and replenish p&o stock twice daily.:D

  11. Big Stevie

After your cabin has been serviced in the morning make sure you remove the biscuits before the evening service or you don't get 2nd's.

    Rick.

Why? Surely you only eat what you want and then get those replenished.Otherwise what are you going to do with them. Surely not take them home. If you can afford a cruise you can afford biscuits at home. Or maybe not.

  12. As I said earlier I'm a regular gym goer but wife never goes. On our last two cruises she has taken a class (Pilates and yoga)in the gym. She has enjoyed them but hasn't carried them on at home. It would be interesting to see if anyone has started going to the gym after taking a class on a cruise ship.

  13. I go to the gym 5 times a week and wipe the equipment every time I use it,before and after use. I have been going into gyms all my adult life and know the eticet. The last time I was on P&O I was given a gym intro by the manager. To him I probably looked like,a little old boy who never used a gym. The one thing I don't like on ship's gyms are the people who come in giggle and make stupid comments. Come in by all means and have a go you may live longer.:p

  14. It used to be a great day when the tickets arrived in the post. On our first few cruises we had the leather wallets. We kept the ones from our first cruise. I suppose first timers now will just be able to keep the ticket they printed on their own paper. It loses something. It would be a nice gesture of all the cruise companies to send our real tickets when t hey know it is someone's first cruise.

  15. Norway in a nutshell best excursion we have ever been on. Thought it was value for money. Yes we could have done it cheaper ourselves but we couldn't have done the package. we have been on some P&O excursions which have been overpriced and over hyped but this wasn't one of them.

Life is to short to penny pinch on the good things in life and this excursion is one of them.

  16. Perhaps if P&O were to reinstate all the small things they have cut back on, such as complimentary drinks they would have to increase The price of their cruises.

I started cruising with P&O in 2005 and taking everything into account I am not paying much more than I did ten years ago.

On a Caribbean cruise there are approx eight flights carrying approx 250 per flight bearing in mind most of these passengers will be old enought to drink that is 2000 pass x 3 drinks at £2.00 per drink = £12000 per cruise just for complimentary drinks. Bear in mind this may not be actual cost as I have been on flights where more drinks were consumed by some passengers.

We as cruisers cannot have it all our own way, we seem to expect more for less every year, P&O like other lines area business not a charity.

We started cruising for our silver wedding 15 years ago and we are doing the same trans Atlantic for our ruby. This year's is only £300 more but we have two more days. I'll pay for the couple of drinks I will have on the flight. If P&O keep the prices the same we will probably be able to afford a cruise for our golden.
