in December we did ask about the charge being refunded and in February assumed and was also refunded, as OBC each.  We purchased the Plus package directly Guest Services

I purchased ours from a table set up on deck 7 near Princess Live.

Yes, but be sure to go to guest services as soon as you buy the upgrade.  You should get it back as refundable OBC, if they are still processing it the same way.

Thank you. I’m glad to hear that.

You'll also get $10 each as OBC because they didn't mail your medallions.

I added plus while on my Christmas Sky cruise. We didn’t get that $10 credited.  I prepaid specialty dining because I wanted to make sure I got the day and time I wanted.

Are you able to swap out alcohol for bottle of wine?
first time as elite in a few weeks.
    Thanks 🍷🍷

In the past, we had to exchange the entire mini bar, alcohol, soda, beer, water and all.    I don’t know what the selections are, but the last time, the chardonnay we got was terrible.

  5. I noticed that the Majestic will be sailing from Port Everglades late 2025 to early 2026. I am wondering if they will remove Harmony Chinese Restaurant and replace it with Sabatini’s. (I hope not). I assume the Noodle bar would be replaced with Slice Pizza and the Lobster Grill with Salty dog.
I hope they keep these venues. It would be nice to change things up a little. Sailing Princess, NY and FL, since 2006 and would love to be able to try different restaurants.
BTW, we ate at Rudy’s over the Christmas Sky cruise and absolutely loved it. so much so that we reserved it for 3 nights on our upcoming 7 night Enchanted cruise.

We were on the Sky in November and the a la carte prices were honored. Hope this is not a new change as we only like to split a pizza, the Prix menu (app, main and dessert) is way too much food for us.

I’m not sure what happened.   It certainly didn’t ruin our cruise and it didn’t break the bank.

  7. Princess is not honoring the a la carte pricing. We were charged the $14.99+ for one pizza at Alfredo’s on the Sky just this past December.  When we were seated, I told the maître d’ what’s up we were ordering a la carte.  We also told the waitress.  After I realized what they did, I went to guest services and was told that’s the way it is.

No, if you upgrade to the 60 per day plus, you get two credits of 14.99 pp to visit a casual dining venue.  If you visit a third time and get the 14.99 3 course meal or go another day and split an 8.50 pizza, then those would be subject to the 18% gratuity.  The first two visits of 14.99 have the gratuity already included.

We are back from our B2B cruise. We paid the extra to upgrade to the new plus package.
We went to Alfredo’s and had the 3 course with the veal and the eggplant and it was very good. On our second visit we ordered the pizza to share. I told both the maître D and the server that we wanted to order one pizza a la carte. When I didn’t see the charge on our folio for the one pizza, I questioned this and was told it was charged against the casual meal. I asked why and was told that’s just the way it is.
The second week we went twice for the complete complimentary meals then on the last day we decided to go just for the pizza. Again we told the maître d and the server that we wanted to share the pizza a la carte.. That one $8.50 pizza was charged at the full dinner cost. $14.99 plus gratuity.  We still had OBC credit to burn through, but it annoyed me with their bait and switch.

Well the weather gods are not smiling down on us on this cruise.  Today we are in Roatan and it's  Grey, 77 degrees with 94% humidity and rain.  Quite a bit of rain is forecasted, not your typical Caribbean showers kind of day.

After my husband's zoom call, we're just going to walk around the port looking for some coffee beans to take home to my coffee loving son. And of course I'm required to have a local beer before departing.  Amel was working the coffee bar so made me a nice cup of Joe and I'm ready to roll.

Unfortunately the weather forecast for both Casta Maya and Cozumel is not looking very promising either.  UGH

It’s not looking too good for your return home either.

  10. I purchased the plus plan when it was offered at $50 per day.  I had planned on upgrading to what I thought was the new plus plan with the on board credit I have. Since the 2 casual dinings were not included in the original package, if I upgrade on board will I be paying the additional dining gratuity?  I’ll upgrade and pay the extras anyway, just curious.

We have 31 days in a forward inside cabin and then 32 days in an aft Caribe balcony. This will be our first ever experience with a cabin change on a ship and I will definitely speak with the steward and ask how he would like us to handle the transition. Whatever makes the steward's job easier will work fine for us. After all, the steward is working and we are not.

We went to the new steward, introduced ourselves and told him that we’re on a b2b and which cabin we will be in. He thanked me for that information and told me he’ll take care of that cabin first. True to his word, when we returned, our room was ready and all our things moved in.

Wow! That is very disconcerting. I appreciate the heads up for January cruises. We were on PC full transit in January 2018, and groups were not an issue and our friends were on a Caribbean itinerary in a January and it was fine.

I would assume that the groups book 7 day itineraries, mainly for the Mexican Riviera and Caribbean?

As far as Princess goes, those are the only ones I know of. They were all Caribbean cruises. I know other cruise lines do the same.

As far as Elite benefits the only one that appears to have gone away is the small bag of toiletry items, which may be gone or may be a supply chain issue. The loyalty OBC was not an Elite benefit, it was a separate program, as is the shareholder obc and veterans obc.

As far as the rest the decision of someone to use the laundry benefit or not, to buy a package or not, that is an individual choice, the benefits are still there.

We usually get to the port early so we use the priority boarding benefit. We do not buy a package so we swap the minibar for coffee cards. We use the laundry, especially when the cruise is part of a 30 day trip or longer. We use the 10% discount on excursions which in most cases makes up for the  amount we pay for the discounted Internet. The priority tendering comes in handy on most cruises.

Do not miss the little bag of toiletries.

You’re missing the free WiFi.  We used to get so many minutes free. Now if you don’t buy the package, you pay for WiFi..although at a discounted price.

The 10% off is now only if the full price is charged. Even a sale with only one cent off means no 10% elite discount.

True. I purchased an item on the last day of my cruise and because it was already discounted, I didn’t get the additional 10% off.  They changed that mid cruise as other discounted items purchased earlier in the cruise got that extra 10% off.

We love the Regal! I am sorry that the Irish Music convention caused frustration for you. Princess really needs to figure out how to deal with groups while honoring the other guests.

We were on b2b in January, 2020 Sky cruise first week with a polka group. Most venues were closed every night. Made for cranky passengers wanting to see the shows in Princess Live. The second week, there was a large group from a radio station. Disruptive, but not nearly as much as the polka group.  They didn’t close every venue for them.
I know that during January, they have 3 large groups on Princess. An oldies group, the polka group and the Irish group.  I make sure of their dates and ship before I book.

  16. My experience from  our December, 2023 Sky cruise leaving from Ft Lauderdale. Wear your medallions so that your status color shows.

Towards the front of the line, there is an agent that directs elite to the entrance on the right. Thus bypassing the huge line for non elites.

Once inside, you will again be directed to next available security scan. Once your luggage is scanned, you will then be directed to another shorter line for elite.

You will then be directed to the next available agent to check in.  Then it’s on to the ship.

if you get there before all passengers have departed, you will be directed to an elite waiting area.

if ever you are unsure which line to go to, tell an agent that you are elite and they will direct you.

It’s all very quick.  I mean really quick.

  17. We got off the Sky on the 17th. Specialty restaurants were $38 & $25. Since we came home, I’ve read that they were increased.
Also, don’t prepay you specialty dinners expecting any on board credit to offset it.  I also learned the hard way that if you cancel one of your prepaid dinners, they won’t give you credit.
