We came back from Explorer 2 on Wednesday. From a massive “Celebrity “ fan my take on it “utterly fabulous” first time in an inside cabin must admit wouldn’t repeat that (we have a suite booked on Discovery 2 for September) but it did not spoil our time at all. We had several maintenance issues in the cabin these were dealt with immediately. The entertainment was superb, service excellent, value for money great. The only let down for us was the quality of food and service on level 5 of latitudes that was really bad but vista and level 6 of latitudes was great. Surf and turf lovely. Any questions please ask

In my weather app it’s all in the 70s from the middle of next week apart from Zakinthos mid 60s how reliable it is who knows but in the words of my O/H “we have a drinks package in place” ha ha 😂🤢

We are getting on next Wednesday Lesley! Hope the weather improves

Sorry to hear that! Hope you got home ok?

Good luck I’m sure they will have it sorted! Have a lovely time are you on for 1 or 2 weeks?

How are you getting on with this 2BAcruiser? I hope you will get sorted 😩

There is a big difference in the quality of the food between Celebrity and Marella (imho), the cabins are less well appointed and you are only allowed one towel per day. This is more than made up for by the quality of entertainment and atmosphere on Marella which is far better than Celebrity. Hope you have a fabulous time

Oh no hopefully it will be cleared very quickly! We board on 22.5.19

We stayed at the Athens gate very nice hotel. Lovely rooftop restaurant with fabulous views of the Acropolis, couple of streets away from the Plaka and right opposite the bus stop straight to the port. Hope this helps

Will do, we sailed on the ship when it was Celebrity Century in Alaska, really enjoyed it only downside was access to the dining room was only from certain floors so you had to go up to come back down if you see what I mean 🤨

Thank you we booked today and included the upgrade as we thought it was very good value on discovery last year
-
We did a ships tour in Civitavecchia As we had done several previous trips in to Rome. We thought it was very good value and definitely much cheaper than the American lines.
-
We are thinking of booking last minute Explorer 2 (really liked the ship when it was Century) can you upgrade to the premium package onboard?
Thanks for any help

We didn’t get an email or notification of the discounted upgrade, rang Celebrity in the UK they said 1 off promotion but would allow us to have it. Bring on our Equinox sail 15.10.18!

Another great thing about marella they let you stay onboard until it’s time to go to the airport, transfers are well arranged.

Marella is far better than P&O (IMHO) the drinks package is excellent, the upgrade to premium a steal for £50, the entertainment fabulous, service in the dining room, friendliness of the staff. Only been on Britannia to be fair but wouldn’t ever go back on P&O whereas 1 trip on Marella and booked future cruises

Marella Explorer 2 review
in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)

We were on the same cruise as you, also flying from Manchester. We agree it was a fairly longish walk from the terminal to the coach park but don’t remember a “busy road” (could be mistaken took full advantage of the AI!) We enjoyed the ship more than Discovery as thought the layout of Aperitif/surf & turf, indigo, coffee port was far better. We did miss the evening tapas bar though. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this cruise apart from we thought the cruise director had very little presence/personality and 1 of the female entertainment staff by the pool was extremely squeaky and irritating. That was our personal opinion. We did go to surf and turf thought it was excellent value beautiful food and service will definitely go when we are on Discovery in September.
