  1. Will be coming to Miami on Feb 2nd which is also the marathon for a pre cruise 1 night stay. Was wanting to stay at south beach but am concerned about getting there that afternoon. Any one have any input?

    Thanks

You won't have any issues if your coming into Miami & South Beach in the afternoon. The race begins at 6:15am & the start of it is in downtown Miami.. running over the causeway to South Beach & then back other another causeway into downtown Miami again…Anyone running the marathon would have to be finished by early afternoon at the very latest. You will be fine!

I ran the half last year. I was done & on board the Carnival Breeze before noon!

  2. Oh i wouldn't worry about that. If you are down by bayside in the morning to early afternoon it will be busy. Google the Miami marathon for a map. It starts down my bayside & goes over the causeway through south beach & then back over another causeway through downtown Miami. There will be road closures. If your on foot, no worries. Go, enjoy! It's even fun to be a spectator!

  3. Hello,

I ran the Miami half marathon last year. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott. After the race I had to catch the Carnival Breeze. I must say it was very busy downtown near the start/finish of the race. My only issue was after I finished the race, got showered & repacked for the cruise. We had major issues getting a cab at our hotel. The cabbies didn't want to go near our hotel area. We ended up waiting for the hotel shuttle & it took an hour for them to come. It took us probably about 45 min to get to the port. The Miami Marathon is a huge race & you can expect lot of traffic, road closures, and people.

If you don't have to catch a plane until late afternoon.. then you'll be fine. Otherwise make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the airport & arrange transportation early…

I love that weekend! The energy of all the racers are amazing!!! It was also a great time running it….

    Just my 2 cents.

  4. Hello,

I attended the big celebration on Saturday back in 2010. It was a blast!! We watched the parade & everyone was drinking in the streets! Just be careful of the Adult juice boxes that look like Carpi Sun's!! They are called Gasolina!!

Google the Festival.. you should be able to find lots of info about it!

    Have a great time

  6. Thought i'd add my 2cents! I've been on both the Dream & Breeze. You really can't go wrong with either ship. However, the Breeze hands down wins! The food choices, decor, ship layout & extra bars are amazing!!!! If you can swing the 8 day Breeze cruise down to the southern caribbean it's well worth it!

    Hope this helps!

  7. There were many areas you can enter to climb several falls. There were only about 15 of us there at the time. I'd pick this your over Dunn river any day! It was private, peaceful & relaxing. Since it isn't cruiseships sponsored there are -0- crowds. Just make sure to leave the port area to find a taxi. The taxi shuttles inside the port area will only take you to the large tourist areas. :( we felt totally safe doing this!

    Go & enjoy!

  8. Yes you can walk there but for $10 pp round trip I wouldn't walk it. Gorge entrance is uphill & it's hot & humid. Someone in our group walked it. 2 people clinged to them when they were walking trying to show the way then expected a tip. Not worth it to me. It's about a 15 min walk & 3 min cab.

  9. Just off the breeze this morning. Went to turtle river falls & gardens (enchanted gardens). It was beautiful. To get there make sure to walk out of the port area.. Shuttles will not take you there. Wasted time trying to get them too.. Most told us we didn't want to go there or never heard of it. Bs! Get a taxi.. Or van. Great guy charged us $10 round trip. We called him early to come pick us up & came within 5 min. Pay when you get back to the port. $20 entry fee into the gardens.. Peaceful.. No crowds..

  10. It's now called turtle river falls & gardens. No ship sponsored shore excursion as far as I know. Entry fee is $20 pp. it's about 1/2 mile from the Ocho rios cruise port.. Hire a taxi at the port. We may be doing this next week.. Heading on the breeze on Sunday.

  11. Good for you cruise cat for sticking with it! You need to get to a good running shoe store! The good ones will fit you into the shoes that best fit for you. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They will even allow me to return them if they aren't the ones for me! You should not get blisters! Black toenails are nasty...trim them from now one...and get to the shoe store!

Are you following a training schedule?
