  1. Royal does not waive the requirement for both people in the cabin to purchase the deluxe drink package regardless of what your medical situation is or what doctor signed a note. What they will do is allow the second person to purchase a refreshment package that includes all non alcoholic drinks which is different than the soda package that comes with your room.

Sorry but you will not get anywhere trying to get around this.

Most likely your best option is to just pay as you go for drinks.

I've had gastric bypass surgery. I have a letter on file with RCCL from my Surgeon's office that I cannot drink alcohol, soda or coffee. The letter is permanantly on file and in place for all of our 5 upcoming cruise's and my wife can purchase the deluxe drink package solo.

  2. While in the Solarium pool on our last cruise the pool was rather full. So much so that many of us could not touch the bottom and keep our heads above water. Wondering if bringing a pool noodle would be ok to sling under my arms to float around?

  3. No, the water to your toilet is exactly the same water that makes your meals, mixes your drinks, and makes the ice onboard, in addition to coming from your sink tap. The black film inside the bowl means that the rubber distribution ring (unlike your toilet at home that has cast in water passages, the ship's toilets use a U-shaped rubber pipe with holes in it to distribute the water around the rim) that is tucked way up inside the rim (you can't see it unless you want to emulate our plumbers who have to stick their head almost in the bowl to get the dang thing out) is breaking down and the rubber particles are adhering to the bowl.

And for biker: yes, the water and drink dispensers, bar guns, water stations in the MDR, and the ice makers all have a carbon filter to remove the chlorine, not for taste but because the chlorine builds a scale in this equipment.

The reason the "cold" water never runs as cold as at home, is that the water pipes are not buried 6 feet underground, where the temperature is a constant 55* or so, and it does not sit stationary in the pipes like municipal supplies, soaking up the cold. The water is constantly circulated, and goes from the 100*+ engine room to the 70* hotel and back, so it will never get below the ambient room temperature.

Also the pumps constantly circulating the water will generate heat.

  4. We have done Navigator once and then twice on Liberty out of Galveston. No, it is not my favorite place to go out of. Fort Lauderdale is my preferred place. Getting to and from the airport is a lot longer in Galveston. I will say the best people to cruise with are the people of Texas! They are the nicest most friendly and fun people I have ever met! We always fly in a day early, we rent a car from budget one way and stay at the Staybridge in Webster. Drop the rental off and take Galveston Limo to the port. After the cruise, we do the same thing, Galveston Limo to the Staybridge in Webster spend the night and rent a one way from Budget to Hobby the next day. We always add a day in case of fog or other unexpected delay on every cruise. Loved Liberty the last two Cruise's. Loved Navigator a few years ago. It is not about the port, it's about the ship and the itinerary.

Make the best of any and every cruise you take. Your not working, your on vacation and a bad day on vacation is better than a good day at work.

  5. Done this cruise before out of Galveston and Fort Lauderdale. Cozumel we love the Bar Hop. What an awesome fun day. Been to Mr. Sanchos and Nachi and they were ok at best. Grand Cayman we love a trip to Stingray City. Best to find a tour that will take you to Starfish Beach as well. Only been to Jamaica once and went to a resort for a day. Had a great time and will do it again this trip coming up in 5 days from now.

Soak in the sun fill up on Rum and relax.

  6. Looking for some recommendations for a trip to Starfish Beach and Stingray City. We are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Feb 2017 and want to go to both places. We have been to both places on Jet ski but we will have a group of at least ten people and would love to do a catamaran. Some in our group are not good at or interested in snorkeling. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  7. I make "Apple Pie" with 190 proof Everclear. We like to have a party on a sea day and shots of apple pie are a wonderful thing to have while out on the Balcony.

RCCL or any cruise line has nothing as good as our homemade Apple Pie.

So we bring some with to share with our new cruise friends.

  8. Nope, never fly in the day of your cruise. Our first cruise was booked through a travel agent and they had us flying from Minneapolis to Chicago then into Orlando arriving around noon. As a infrequent traveler 14 years ago I was very hesitant. We had them rebook our flight to leave Friday at 4:30pm, we went to Dallas and arrived in Orlando around midnight.

While we were sitting in the airport Friday they closed down Chicago due to a snow storm. If we had not switched our flights we would have missed our cruise.

We always fly in the day before on every cruise. Just one thing even if you fly in the day of your cruise. What if they lose one or all of your luggage? If you fly in the day before you have time to maybe regroup and gather what you need or forgot to pack before you leave.

On our third cruise while we were in the final leg of our flight down to Orlando I realized I had not packed any shorts. We had rented a car and I had time to do some shopping.

Plan for the worst and expect the best!
