We are contemplating discovery 2 in August. Does anyone know if you pay per item for the premium drinks or do you pay a daily charge as we did on celebrity last ye

suppliments are added to account and taken off card at end of cruise

Just back from 14 nights on Discovery. I think the lager available varies by bar? Glad that menu pdf was posted as it means I don't have to do it. It looks identical to the current one on Discovery.
prefer fosters anyway rather than stella and for a change theres corona win win
-
was wondering I noticed captain morgans is that the spiced one , that my favorite choice
-
There has been rumours that the discovery1&2 not all drinks are all inclusive and have suppliments added or there is a premium price package as well ,can anyone tell me if this is true or just romours . Would love if someone posts bar menu once the cruise start for this ships cheers keith:cool::cool:

it'll probably be around 1800 but don't quote me
it has to be before they leave port
-
Can only speak as we have found and everyone we have seen with a bag weighing over 23kg have been asked to put the excess in another bag (would assume at no charge if you had paid for an increased allowance).
We have paid for extra up to 25kg but after buying extra weight thomson told us we are going with alba star on way out from glasgow but thomson on the way back . So we dont know what to do take the extra weight to glasgow airport and get hassle from albastar reps or take less and give up on the extra weight we paid for also we dont know what the hand baggage weight is allowed through alba star because they wont answer my messages help!!!!!!!!

Yes one of they best exurtions we did on the cruise

Its normally about 1800hrs but its flexible you will have notification on arrival, and if on for two weeks you don't have to attend on changeover day. It may be different on Discovery 2!

Hi, we are doing our first cruise on Discovery on highlights of Med cruise, departing Majorca 10 June 17. The ship calls at Livorno for the day so can anyone advise if you can hire a taxi or driver with private car for the day at the port? We are looking to go to Florence and Pisa for a day excursion so wondering if its possible and cheaper to hire a driver and his car for the day when we get off the ship or whether its better to book a driver and private car in advance? Thomson looking for £82pp for their day excursion so don't know if this is good value or not.
Thanks in advance
Go for the thomson one we loved it well worth it you get time to chill out and drink plenty and you have peace of mind you will if late from trip knowing the ship will wait till you return
-
That is miss selling if you advertise as selliing all inclusive cruise it should be what it is no surcharges on drinks etc

Yes we were booked onto the Glasgow flight. The Alba star flight is now 09-50 going out (almost three hours later), so you lose a bit of your first day. Plus we had pre booked seats/luggage. You can't do that on Alba star, bizarrlely it was still a Thomson flight coming back into Glasgow.
We have changed to Edinburgh (same as previously stated this was not available when we booked) (flying with BA), plus point we go out at 05-35 now.
Not sure on seat booking status with BA. But assume planes will be good. Also see (we stay in Fife) that you can drop of luggae the night before on a BA flight (not sure if this will be case where the flight has been chartered by Thomson.
I assume given the capacity of the news ships, alternate carriers may become the norm and many who book earlier may see changes long after they book & in our case we found the change & were not informed by Thomson. Indeed on teh first call teh said it was not the case, it was only after we advsied them we had got teh details from the website via trying a new booking they said oh yes it has changed.
I also flying from glasgow but on the 20th aug and i had booked extra baggage weight when i booked cruise and i found out through this web site that alba star was going to be the carrier . I e mailed thomson for confirmation on this and they mailed me back confirming this but told me my baggage weight 25kg is upheld and wont change due to different carrier time will tell .But i was not aware the flight time had changed will be getting back in touch with thomson tomorrow . I prefer outside cabin I have been on dream and was on deck 6 if you are doing Adriatic I would go for deck 6 or 7 the views are really good from cabin if you don't want to go out first thing in the morning . When you are coming into koter though it would be better going out to take the full view it's something else enjoy keithHi allFirst time on here so please be gentle :)
My wife and i are looking to try a cruise for the first time in July 2016 , its looking like the Adriatic Explorer on the Dream out of Corfu .
Think we are going to go with inside cabins and would appreciate advice on best locations.
Deck 6/7 Inside are £28 pp more than the lower decks , would these be worth booking ?
Any other advice and tips would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Jim

Hi we did the adriatic explorer last year well worth it as far ports are concerned
In koper we did the caves very good and worthwhile .
Venice we took the private boat transfer from the majesty and then did our own thing also we walked over the Rialto bridge way first then slowly worked our way back towards St marks square because when we arrived everybody stayed
Around that area and you could not move for crowds .when we came back a lot quiter also the que'swere down for attractions in the area .
We then went to Crotia can't remember the name but was easy going we just had a few drinks and had leasurly walk about.
Debrovnick was something else we did the wine tour really enjoyed that up into the hills above Debrovnick into a few winery's very good then back to ship about 13.00 then a trip I nto Debrovnick for the rest of the afternoon .
Koper in montenegro the sail was something else but have to be up eary. But worth it also had a lazy day strolling around .
The majesty itself you will enjoy it was our first time on it but been on a few of the thomsons ships but majesty is the favorite for us
Just a few ideas to look at hope it helps enjoy your we loved it. Keith

Thinking of booking Colourful Coasts for April 2015, and would welcome any help with the following issues:-
1. Cabin - We have had an Outside Plus on Deck 9 on Dream for past 3
years which we loved. Thinking of an Outside Plus on Deck 7
on Majesty (if available). Has anyone stayed on this Deck and
if so, can you recommend any specific cabins. - take it as the
Outside Plus cabins are smaller on Majesty, there will be no
sofa or occasional table?
2. Weather - We plan to cruise from April 10th for 7 nights - have looked at
average temps in the Canaries for that time of year, but
different websites vary quite considerably (between 20c and
25c). Can we pack summer clothes?
Also, having only sailed the Med, is the Atlantic likely to be
very choppy in April?
3. Majesty v Dream - We absolutely love the Dream and have read several
conflicting reviews on Majesty. How does she
compare with the Dream?
Thanks in anticipation.
cabins in majesty are smaller but having been on dream as well i prefer the majesty. We were on deck 7 cabin 0730 and had a good veiw and the staff very freindly .Only thing about the Majesty the broadway lounge is a cicular stage and is not like the dream with a 2 tier sitting arrangement . Apart from that i think the majesty is better laid out hope this helps .keith

Stayed in this hotel a couple years back very good hotel very clean food good only comment I would say is only bottom part of bar is used for AI meaning big queues for drinks apart from that great hotel
-
It was £25.00 for a full bag if I remember right
-
Spirit and Celebration have self service laundries, but not Dream and Majesty. All have a laundry service and I believe that sometimes they do have offers of filling a bag for so much, but not sure if this is still on offer.
That offer is still on we used it when we were there in May can't remember how much but not expensive we had to have bag made up early for pick-up in morning best getting bag sorted out night before because you have to itemise everything you put in bag .
-
Do you get kettles on Majesty?
Was on majesty in May no kettles then
