  1. Only use the buffet occasionally for dinner- we like the waiter service and the presentation of the food is so much better. I know people say it's the same food, but it doesn't always look like it! And the definitely don't have the appetisers or the same desserts in the buffet.

Having said that, we found the buffet on the Spirit to be such a lovely calm atmosphere in the evening that we were tempted to use it more often.

We were on majesty in May and did breakfast in 4seasons because it was partly waiter service but helped yourself in buffet always lunch in buffet up on deck then mdr at night

  2. Much as it galls me to pay so much, I've decided to book the Thomson Venice on Your Own trip when we're there in July. It will be very hot, there are 5 of us and we've never been before. I think this will give us the longest amount of time to explore, with a guaranteed seat and return time back to the ship. I can imagine waiting in long queues for the water taxis back if there is more than the one ship docked the day we are there, and don't want the stress. Any other time of year I may have considered walking, but not end of July/early August heat.

thats what we did and the pick-up point for the transfer back was past the fifth bridge past st marks square witch is not far , and there is a bar very close by so you see the boat coming in its very close to its time 16.15

  3. Well another year has past so we have booked our cruise for the Eastern Med. We have never been to any of the Ports of Call so any must does would be welcome. Also the ship is the Majesty I believe it is a smaller ship so we need to be savvy with our packing. Any tips please.;)

its not that small take what you normally take, the only small thing really is the outside standard cabins better going for outside plus . We were on the majesty in may and what i think it seems better laid out they have used the space well ,we will be going back on her we prefer the majesty to the dream .:)

  4. Brilliant cruise. I also got up at 6am for sail into Venice and also Kotor. Amazing!! :)

Yes agree with the sail inns venice & Kotor were something else . This was one of the best cruises for us ,and loved the majesty as did the Crotia beauty trip well worth the money we had a great time . No cruise next year we have a lot on at home ,but thinking about 2016 already and thinking about Greek Islands one .

  5. Brilliant cruise, just a pity it had to end, first time visiting Venice got up 6am to watch the sail in amazing. Met Ann & Ted, sorry I did not get the chance to meet the rest of you (kept looking at everybody's footwear looking for orange crocs) met a few old friends and a lot of new friends as you do on Thomson ships. Now looking forward to the next one.:D:D

I met ann&tedd as well she said she met you not long after we were speaking to her . Really enjoyed cruise we wished we had booked for the second week ,but we have a lot on this year . Anyway loved the Majesty and will be back on as soon as we can manage .

  6. Very true the semi circle they save is not good unless you are the two who get the center seats. If you get the side seats in the circle it gets very uncomfortable twisting to see the show:confused: Plenty of better seats by far free to use:p

We are just back from the majesty you don't pay extra for seats all free we were in all areas in jubilee lounge also as far as restricted veiws are concerned not many at all .

  7. 20 minute walk will take you into Corfu old town , don't know if it has a Spar etc... as i wasn't looking for one , but am sure it will have some kind of supermarket , its also very charming and worth stopping off for something to eat and a beer or glass of wine :)

I'm sure I saw a spar quite close to the terminal when we left yesterday

  8. Have a great time everyone.

Don't miss the west end wonders show, I won't spoil it but the end segment is fantastic. They do this show every week as it's so popular.

    Joe.

Ok joe thanks a lot looking forward to it ,the cruise & the entertainment I'm sure is spot on. We are all packed and ready to to airport tomorrow ,can't come quick enough . Keith& Catherine

  9. My partner and myself have booked the Thomson Majesty Adriatic for a week, we will have been married a week when we go in June, we are also staying in Corfu for a week after the cruise. This is our first ever cruise so thought we would do just a week on a ship and a week in a hotel to test the waters.

We have pre-booked cabin 607, which is at the front of the ship on the Majesty, would someone please let me know what this room is like for honeymooners, if you have a picture that would be great. Thanks all and hope you all have a great day.

    Thank you in advance.

Some cabins are compact than others we have booked a outside plus cabin on deck 7 they are bigger with more storage space . If you have picked a standard size would try to upgrade to a plus cabin . We are going on Friday on the majesty I will try to give you an idea the size of cabin you have when I come back only doing a week . Keith

  10. Hi everybody would be great to put faces to the names. We sound a bit like you Flopsy, wife (Carol) is short and round and I'm (Dave) a bit like your hubby without the glasses except for reading. We usually sit on the port side of the boat as OH smokes. We shall all have to meet up next Friday at Topsiders bar for sail away.

We will be close to topsiders on Friday looking forward to sailaway and meeting you all .keith&catherine:cool:

  11. Just a note to all those sailing on this great itinerary on 2 May 2014- if you want to say hello you will recognise me by the black top with a big red flower pinned on it, and I am short and round with fair hair. Hubby looks like most other men on board- he's thin, grey hair and glasses!

Do say hello- it's nice to put a face to the name after all these messages!

Is there anyway I will recognise you?

    Flopsy (Ann & Ted)

Why not I'm Medium height glasses short grey hair Catherine short redhead glasses don't know what I'm wearing yet we will be up on deck for going away party not to far from the bar ha ha

  12. I am not worried about the reviews. I am going on Majesty for the first time on 2nd May and will enjoy myself in my inside basic cabin with my not hot enough variety of food and the same entertainment as on the Dream in January. I am on holiday on a cruise!!! I will enjoy every experience.

Well said you pay the money and regardless of what folk say you are on holiday and make the best of it . Keith

  13. Was reminiscing earlier about an Island Escape cruise last September, and suddenly remembered a couple who were left behind in Corsica, having not returned on time even though the ship did wait an extra half hour (never knew what happened to them).

It made me wonder, do you feel sorry for unfortunates like this ? Or are you one of the 'Pier Runner' watchers heckling down from the deck ? :D :p

I can imagine the thought of missing your cruise ship ,I have seen a few couples running at last minute to catch the boat on the deadline time .We have always made sure we were there about the stated time we were told . I would not be a heckling at anybody about to miss the sail off because I think they would feel bad enough themselves without anyone adding to there situation.

  14. Less than half an hour I'd say and that includes getting through the congestion of Corfu Town. Possibly as little as 20 minutes - you can see the ship as you approach the airport - the port and airport lie either side of the town. Enjoy! :)

That's fine with the short transfer as we get in at 20.30 from aberdeen so that will be check-in at port quick look about ship ,drill , something to eat ,then going away party on deck busy night can't wait

  15. This was our first Thomson cruise and these are my thoughts, sorry if it's a bit long!

We flew from Glasgow to Malaga and it seemed that a few UK flights arrived within minutes of each other with the result that there was quite a queue at the port. It moved pretty quickly though (well we thought it did but we heard a few moans) and we were soon checked in and on board.

We were shown to our cabin – 480 an outside plus just forward of the rear stairs and lifts, a perfect location, and our cases were already waiting for us.

The cabin was bigger than I had expected based on previous reviews and had ample storage. It was set out as 2 single beds with 2 – 4 drawer chests of drawers between, there was a double and single wardrobe with mirror doors. Inside the double wardrobe was the safe and another 2 drawers. A cupboard at the end of one bed housed the fridge and more storage space, and then on the opposite side of the cabin at the end of the other bed was a dressing table with yet another 2 drawers.

There was plenty room under the beds for the suitcases.

The shower room was compact with little storage, only a shelf under the sink and the space at the side of the sink. The shower was powerful, but the same couldn’t be said about the hairdryer! Bring your own!!!

Deck 4 was ideal for us, as one flight up was the dining room The Seven Seas, where we ate every night except 1, and also had breakfast there too. Breakfast is part buffet, but you are seated and brought coffee/tea and juice, you then help yourself to everything else and there was plenty to choose from. The food in the evening was also very good, no complaints at all.

Also on deck 5 are the shops, the reception area, the Rendezvous Bar and the Royal Fireworks.

Up another flight of stairs takes you to deck 6 with the Polo Club Bar and the Jubilee Lounge, which is the theatre for evening entertainment. The casino is also on this deck and is served by the Polo Club bar staff.

Deck 10 aft houses the Piazza San Marco with is one of the 2 buffet areas. We used this for lunch and again there was loads to chose from, and we never had a problem getting a table. We never ate in the other buffet the Café Royal as on the only time we looked in at it, it was very busy and crowded, so we stuck to the larger one. We also didn’t use the Royal Observatory Bar on deck 9 either as anytime we went there people were using it as an eating area overspill from the Café Royal and it was a bit offputting if you just wanted a quiet drink.

The spa is on deck 7 and I used this for a Sea Shell Massage – heaven!!! The gym is also on this deck – I saw it when the door was open :D.

The evening entertainment was wonderful, the showteam are terrific singers and dancers, I don’t know why they haven’t been snapped up by Simon Cowell! The shows were first class every night. Really really impressed. Before the main show each night Muzzic Unlimited played for half an hour and they too were excellent. They also played in other areas at other times too.

If I have a gripe and it’s only a small one, there was not enough activities on our sea day. Unfortunately it wasn’t sunbathing weather, so we had to find things to do inside and I just thought there would have been more activities, but maybe that’s just me.

As for sunbathing – it looks as though a lot of the sunbeds have been replaced as most of them seemed new, with just some older style ones getting brought out when they were needed.

We had the drinks package which was wonderful, it was great signing your receipt and seeing a zero charge – way to go!!!

To sum up, did I enjoy my cruise on the Thomson Majesty – Yes. Would I recommend it – Yes. Would I go again – Yes.

Having sailed on HAL and Princess, I would say that what the Majesty lacks in Glitz it more than makes up for with friendly staff and excellent evening entertainment.

good to hear we are going on 2nd may looking forward to it by the way what time were the 4 seasons open for breakfast was just thinking of mybe early excurtion times. keith&catherine

  16. I'm currently booked on deck 4 but had a call from Thompson tonight asking if I wanted to upgrade to deck 9 - which has a bigger window, the only difference ( apart from being 'nearer to the amenities') for an extra £50.

Does anyone know if it's worth doing so? Thank you.

Depending if you take outside cabin and want a unrestricted view as far as deck 8 is concerned deck 9 I'm not sure about we are on deck 7 hoping the the view is totally not restricted . Keith & Catherine

  17. The Two brand new TUI German cruise Ships are the balcony type , the TUI British fleet will have this type in twenty years time when become worn out and obsolete and not up to standard for the major cruse lines but good enough for us British mugs.

Yes that sounds about right never know might get the first mein shiff that was built in 10 years time

  18. Does anyone know if this is just the Dream or across the fleet. It doesn't sound very efficient way of doing it.

I hpe it's just the dream and they are using just to try out to see if it will work out before they make it to cover the rest of the fleet . To me it's rubbish it's just another way of cutting costs and we are doing the work for them ,just hope it's scrapped before our cruise in early May

  19. .

a f/b friend sent me a copy of this at the weekend

    .

    dresscode.jpg

    notice the dress code box?

dress code on formal night now appears to be..... formal caribbean or as you please? aka no dress code:confused:

    .

I think I will stick with formal I have a dinner suit I have used for the last 4cruises it's the only time I get to wear it . I think Caribbean is too much but that's just me. Keith

  20. We had 705 last year, that sounds like it may be on the same deck as yours. Yes it was obstructed views in places but more annoying was the fact that people were sunbathing right outside your windows and having a good old nose through your window! They were banging about at the crack of dawn with sunbeds.

Hi. 705 is opposite side plus it's up front we are mid ships seems that the lifeboats seem to be higher than further front we might be ok for veiw . Keith &catherine ps thanks for the quick reply

  21. I read somewhere that Breakfast in the MDR on Majesty is half Sel Serve and half Waiter Service. Can someone explain how this works please?

Can you still have Smoked Salmon or Egg Benedict like on the Dream?

    Many thanks.

Mybe it's like some hotels your cereal fruit juice etc is self service but if you want hot breakfast it's waiter service I would think ,will find out in May can't wait
