I have some good news.  I have a pending credit showing on my CC account.  The credit is for my final payment on my 3/22/20 cruise that was cancelled.  The credit is for the correct amount of my final payment that was made in early January.  I did make my initial payment 14 months ago on a different credit card.  That credit has not shown up ($198).

This certainly is a step in the right direction and hopefully those with cruises cancelled in mid-late March will start seeing refunds.

Follow up - my initial deposit credit has been posted to my CC.  I have now received my entire refund for my 3/22/20 cruise that I applied for refund on 3/15/20.   My total refund came 66 days from application for those who want to get an idea of what to expect.

I can stop posting on this topic now.  Good luck to all and I hope everyone gets what they asked for (refund or FCC) soon.  I can now put MSC back on the list of where to look for future cruises.  Now if they can spice up their Caribbean itineraries.  I really want to get to OC.

  2. I applied for the cash refund with MSC on 3/15/20.  I did not dispute with CC.  I have been waiting and it is day 65 since applying for the refund.  I am feeling pretty good right now.

I would have rather been on the cruise.

Calendar Day 62 or Business Day 62 ?

I’ve been told by MSC USA Escalation Department Rep that MSC counts by Business Days.  I am far over 60 Calendar Days but short of 60 Business Days after my cancellation early March.

It has now been 64 days and that is calendar days.  My original e-mail said "Your refund will be processed within 60 days".  I received this e-mail on March 15, 2020.  I have not received any subsequent correspondence that offered any different timeline.

I would think "within" would not mean to look for it on day 60.  It could mean 2 weeks later you could have it.

  6. I was looking at booking the Meraviglia next March but my wife is saying no.  She does not trust them over the whole refund issue.  It is a shame.  We did the Divina and the Seaside and loved both cruises.  I was really looking forward to finally getting to OC.  Oh well.  We will see.  Need to start worry about my June Celebrity cruise now that has not been officially cancelled yet.

Let the good times roll.  In all honesty life is good, just many inconveniences these days.  Lets hope they stay only inconveniences.

What are you prevented from doing? I can do everything I could do on the old site.

Did you do the exact steps I said above? Because if not, it will say you are logged in, but still prompt you for email verification.

Well for one thing I keep getting the message:

    • Contact Us request failed!
    • Send Contact Us Failed

Can not use their contact us feature.  Also there is no reference to my cancelled cruise on 3/22/20.

I am on day 59 of the "within 60 days" timeframe for my promised refund.  Starting to get concerned/annoyed.

  8. I did log on to my MSC account yesterday and there is something new.  It shows under my reservation number of the 3/22 cruise "cancelled" and it shows my total paid - total of prepaid items = refund due.

The refund due is $308 short of what I paid which is the amount of Gov't fees and taxes.  I am not sure what this means.

Math doesn't add up and still no indication of when money will hit the CC.  But at least this is something new and looks like some application process is happening.  I am now on day 53 of the 60 days they indicated as the longest it would take.

They are handling refunds based on your “sail” date. The 60 day window of when you request the refund is out the window. I was told that they are currently working on early April sailings. Also I was told that credit card companies are pushing back due to the amount of refunds being processed world wide. I was told the same thing by Celebrity when working on my refund. She stated that the cc companies are telling them it could take up to two billing cycles to post.

Interesting.  I am not sure why the CC companies would take so long once the refund from the cruise company (MSC) was returned.  It is not funds coming from their (CC company) pocket.  I can understand the "disputes" overwhelming the CC companies but not the actual approved refund. I hope I am making sense.

I would not think they would be working on April sailings at this point when the March sailings have seen nothing.

I booked a land vacation in July to replace 2 cancelled cruises.  I would like to pay for the July trip with my returned cruise money.  I love cruising more than most people but I do not see us cruising for a while.  After adding up all of our "land" vacation costs I really do see the bargain we have been getting over the years on the high seas. We may never get back to the good old days.

  10. If someone is going to compile a list and needs info:

Cruise scheduled for 3/22/20 (Meraviglia out of Miami).  MSC cancelled sailing.  I applied for a refund on 3/15/20.  I received a notice by e-mail dated 3/15/20 8:05am saying "Your refund would be processed within 60days".

Not sure what "processed" means.  I am hoping that is the time frame for credit to post to CC.

  11. I requested a refund on 3/15/20 for my cancelled cruise of 3/22/20.  No refund yet although I got a notice saying it could take up to 60 days.  It has been 40 days.  I have contacted them a few times (1 phone call and a few e-mails) with no commitment from them and only advised to "be patient".

Will they refund or not is the question.  No time problem accepting payments.  In my humble opinion 40 days is long enough.

  12. We were scheduled on the 3/22/20 Meraviglia sailing.  Of course this was cancelled by MSC through no fault of theirs.  I just can't believe it takes this long to issue refunds.  Obviously it is just to hold on to the cash as long as they can.  They will need to bite the bullet and just refund it.

No one likes what is going on.  Either they have the cash or they don't.  If they have it please send it back to where it belongs.

When we booked we gave them the money immediately.  When we booked an excursion we gave them the money immediately.  I booked a cruise 4 years ago on the brand new Seaside.  We gave MSC a deposit 15 months ahead of time.  I did that then and now I would like them to get our money back.

We are regular cruisers and I hope things get back to normal but the times are not normal and everyone needs to start doing what needs to be done which includes refunding money for something someone paid for that didn't happen.

Sorry for rambling, just a little frustrated.

  13. I requested a refund (on a cancelled cruise scheduled to leave on 3/22) on 3/15 and received a message that said the refund would be processed but could take up to 60 days.  I am on day 37 but want the refund credited to my CC since my current bill is due and I would rather not pay if I don't have to.

I called MSC today, spoke to someone who said they needed to transfer me to a "back room" person.  She transferred me and I sat on hold for 45 minutes and was disconnected.

Not too happy.  My shore excursions were refunding in 2 days when cancelled so obviously they can do it quicker than 60 days.

Credit card dispute is next step.  I am not 100% confident that the refund is coming.

Has anyone else received a refund yet on a cruise cancelled by MSC?

  14. I cancelled my 3/22 sailing under my name.  I looked a few days later and was concerned I needed to cancel my wife's also and I tried.  A message came up that her's had been already canceled.  So I think that both get cancelled if booked together originally. It has been 16 days since I cancelled and I have not received my refund yet and I did receive a message that said it may take up to 60 days.

I am a little nervous until I actually get my money.

I am coming to the conclusion that I may never get to OC.  Missed it 3 times now.
