  1. I guess I'm struggling just a bit to understand how cashing out unused gift cards balances via the casino is defrauding or stealing from Carnival. I assume the cards were purchased legitimately so what is the issue? Is it the 10% discount that can be had via AARP/Allstate/Verizon (program since ended) that people are hung up on? I can see where the $10,000 example is over the top but if I put $1000 of GC's on my onboard account and only spend $500 (and don't want more gift cards as a refund because who knows when I will take another CCL cruise), what's wrong with cashing out via the casino?
It's not stealing in any way. If they knew what they were talking about they would have never posted those rude responses. I get cards from my credit card via points for a discount.ZERO theft as they call it involved. I love the $1000 discount on my Cruise or casino losses. I also love my shareholder credit and OBC from the casino and our free drinks all with no "theft" from Carnival :)

  2. Now that we are openly bragging about this, I see a new policy coming down..

Or, people could just shut the H up.

These are probably the same people crying about having to buy Cheers for all parties over 21 in the same cabin.

    Openly bragging [emoji23]

Do you think this is new? Been around and talked about on here for years !

And no I won't shut the H up. It's a public open forum as long as I follow terms of service ;)

  3. So, I know from both personal experience and posts on this board that you can purchase discounted gift cards (AARP for example) and then load them to your account once onboard. You can then visit the casino and upload money from your account to a slot machine...play once or twice...and then cash out.

My question is...what has been your experience on the amount (or times) you can reasonably do this before someone gets wise? Again, from personal experience I've probably done this twice a day when the casino was open for a couple hundred dollars each time. Just wondering others experiences...

We've brought $10000 in cards and no issues as long as you play some or they will lock your casino account and the casino manager will have to reactivate it

  4. I do know. I've had the DOU card and Cheers and DOU has nothing to do with your limit with Cheers!
So your telling me that you can get to 15 drinks using cheers and get cutoff for the day correct? They say you cannot even purchase liquor after the max 15 drinks correct? But once your maxed out you can get free drinks from the casino but they won't let you pay for drinks and get additional revenue? I think the staff that told me the rules are correct

  5. Just curious, around how much do you spend in casino before you get the card?
I figure for us about $1000 the first day. I figure it's about the price of cheers but with a chance to win money. Cheers for our last cruise was alittle over $900 but I don't drink so we gambled and had fun and my wife got the card. It was a win win for us even though we lost

  6. I guess it all depends on what you want - we sailed Regal Princess November 2016. I don't know if I will ever get my hubby on another Princess ship. He felt it was boring from decor to activities. I think that particular ship is beautiful - it is elegant and very subdued compared to Carnival's ships.

I thought the food was good in the dining room and the buffet. I had difficulty remembering where the different things were in the buffet, as it is spread out. However, this layout was great for not having the long lines that we have had on Carnival. I had mixed feelings about buffet drink service. Sometimes we would be halfway through our meal before we had any drinks. Other times they got them to us right away. After a few days, I finally saw where the drink station was so I could get my own drink.

The thick padding on the lounge chairs for movies at night is a big win.

We were unable to enjoy the adult only area due to a very large group that pretty much took over that whole area. But it looked really nice.

We wanted to use the indoor shooting range, but it was never open & no one seemed to know when it would be open. Batting cage was enjoyed.

Room steward was great but I was not impressed with the rest of the staff. We had difficulty getting bar service at the pool and in the dining room.

Fellow cruisers were fine with the exception of one guy that was super drunk, spilled my hubby's drink, in a tank top & ball cap. I had to laugh because this is what everyone says they always see on Carnival. Oh, and the old lady who proceeded to drag her chair in front of us at the rail while we were watching a juggling show. Seriously, she almost put her chair on my foot. Never said excuse me, nothing. Just plain rude.

We had a standard balcony cabin, but it had no sofa. This was disappointing, as I am accustomed to the sofas in all balconies on Carnival & Royal. I do like the closet/dressing area on Regal Princess, as it gives more room to get to your clothing without standing in front of the door.

I did enjoy the game shows in their live studio. As far as night life, we are not dancing, clubbing people, so I can't fill you in on those.

We absolutely love the international cafe that princess has along with a great coffee card program. The buffet was really great as well and they have drink service. We don't dress up for dinner anymore that's how we do vacation.

  7. When I get a drink with my card. Should I give the server a cash tip or do they 18% added on?
We have the drinks on us card every cruise. with that being said I'm not sure for a fact if tips are included BUT I can tell you after the first day the servers fight over serving us we tip $1 or $2 per drink in cash. They for sure remember who the tippers are so I pay to never be thirsty

  8. We were on the Vista on November and the windows were really dark tinted and couldn't see inside maybe if you looked really close but we didn't attempt that's a bit creepy lol. Our next cruise is again on the Vista in a big corner 4J can't wait to try it. It was a freebie from the casino so in the end it was $50 each total with my obc and Amex statement credit

  9. Either the commenter below can't read or he always treats others like crap.Pardon me for using the word"porter" out of context. The people that clean the rooms,to be specific,it was our first and last time cruising.Seems to me someone ought to be criticizing the cruise critic.
I don't doubt your things may have been stolen because even though most of us have never had that experience on a cruise doesn't mean it doesn't happen BUT you should have gone directly to guest services and let them get security involved and do a proper investigation. myself that's what I would've done without telling or accusing the cabin steward of anything. If you asked him/her about it that gives them time to dispose of the medicine if they did do it. Calling Carnival after the cruise rarely does anything most of us know.

    P. S. Thanks for using the search feature! Most people just post a new thread about the same issues

  10. The link provided says tuna tartare. I don't question your recent experience in the slightest and hope steak tartare will be offered across the fleet.

Did you enjoy it? Was it mildly or highly seasoned?

I had never had it before so I'm not sure what to compare to but it seemed to not have any seasoning other than salt and pepper. Sorry I'm not much help

  11. I either read the original posting of changes to the steakhouse menu wrong, or I am not remembering it correctly. Either is possible.

I was under the impression the Beef Carpaccio was being replaced with steak tartare. Tuna tartare is a poor substitute.

I had steak tartar on the vista last month. I don't remember seeing tuna on the menu

  12. We are sailing the Breeze in April going to Cozumel, Belize City and Mahogany Bay. There are six of us. My family (2 boys ages 10 and 13) and my mother and father in law.

We are thinking of going to Chankanab in Cozumel for a beach day and then Mayan Ruins in Belize City.

Thinking about Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth hangout in Roatan. I was just reading their options about city tour, beach, and snorkeling.

    Here are some questions-

I think we will pay to snorkel once, either a Chankanab where we can rent snorkel gear or add that to the Daniel Johnson tour. My boys have never snorkeled before and I don't think my husband's parents have either. Which place would be better to snorkel? Thinking better both in terms of what there is to see and where someone can guide/help out those who haven't done it before.

It sounds like there is a free beach in Mahogany Bay? If we decide to snorkel in Cozumel, can we swim there after Daniel Johnson if we decide to just do the Monkey Hangout and not the city tour that includes beach? Is there advantages or disadvantages to that?

Other suggestions of things that would be fun and affordable?

Without a doubt look at Victor boddens best of Roatan tour. We have done about 5 or 6 times with them. Just google him and it'll pop up. They know all the great places to see and go. We snorkeled in waist high water and saw many amazing fish, we ate $2 lobster tacos :)

They cater your day to what your family likes and wants to do and see
