  1. We have done 3 adults and 2 (13 year old) girls in a Cat. 4; family veranda on the Dream. It was really enough room for 4 without pulling down the berth; if you have small children, one cabin would be good. We also had connecting cabins, so it was easy to have enough space.

  2. Bingo is an option; you are not pressed to play. I have been on several Disney cruises; I have never felt pressured to purchase anything. One poster mentioned being asked by a server to buy drinks before the show; I've never see a server in the theater.

  3. This is a pretty simple answer - if you have $2,000-$5,000 of disposable income then...yes, it's very much worth it. You are paying the equivalent of another cruise on some lines. It's just a matter of money and how you want to spend it.

  4. In my opinion, the suites are family friendly. We travel with 2 kids and 4 adults and book connecting cabins. It gives everyone enough personal space. This year we booked a family and one bedroom on the concierge deck. Looking forward to it. Some folks can be so negative; if it's Disney you want---do it---otherwise do something else.

  5. I agree about the food in the MDRs. I have been on several Disney Cruises and they really do miss the mark there. We normally fill up during the day so we don't have to be super disappointed at night. The children's meals are awful!

  6. Sounds like a bunch of crap. Who cruises WITHOUT doing research. Once you pay for your DCL, you get information in the mail; emails; etc.. You realized that you booked the wrong ship, when you arrive at the port? Really? A SOS pad on the plate? How? The dishes are not washed by hand. A few years ago, I spoke with Joel regarding handicapped accessibility (for those that are mobile) for the Aqua Duck. He was very nice and understanding. Not to disregard the OP, but besides the underpants, I find the rest of the experience difficult to believe.

  7. Last year the cost for two family Verandah cabins on a 4-night was $4800 and that was for 5 adults and two children; that was the last week of August. This year we are doing a longer cruise in September on the concierge deck for $6000. It cost more during peak summer months. Maybe instead of a bday trip, you can take him later in the Summer on a "end of summer," or " back to school" trip.

  8. If it is a budget issue, do Carnival; if not, do DCL. We were given a free cruise for two from the Atlantis on any Carnival cruise. We selected a six night on the Breeze in July. While booking, I was blown away by the lack of information on the website about the staterooms, etc. the entire idea of a soda card was beyond me!

I have booked 4 cruises on DCL via the website. It is easy to navigate and provides all the information a cruiser could want to know before sailing. Disney is a class act; hands down. and NO soda card!

For my family DCL is worth the money. We are booked on the concierge deck for our next Disney cruise for this September. I am more excited about that trip than the free trip on Carnival.

  9. If you can afford it, do two cabins that connect. We normally travel with 4 adults and 2 children and the cabins can get a bit crowded and messy! I find the Family Verandah cabins with 299 sq. feet work best. I have found that Deck 9 has the best views! The bathrooms are split, with one holding the shower and a sink and the other holding the toilet and the sink. Whatever you decide, enjoy!

  10. I have always booked directly through Disney Cruise Line (DCL). I have found it much easier than dealing with a TA. When it comes to travel, I prefer to do the legwork for my family. I have been very happy with DCL and their customer service.
