  1. So I can't buy a $10 glass of wine with our free at sea OBC?(Per "drinks over $15" with non refundable)

You can buy drinks at any price with OBC. The post you quote refers to the excess charge for purchasing drinks over $15 when you have the UBP.

  2. Macy's just pulled the same thing.

I was thinking of Macy's. Also JCPenney. They switched things up a couple years back by dropping prices and not having sales. The prices were phenomenal. People complained cause there were no "deals". So they raised prices back up and have sales now to satisfy their customers.

  3. My last cruise I had UBP and the first day/night participated in a bar crawl and then drinks everywhere I went. Then I encountered a group who were doing shots of Fireball and did a bunch of those. No idea how I didn't die! But nope I was not drunk and had no hangover. I think it's the sea air combined with activity because if I have 4 vodka sodas on land I want to die the next day.

  4. Still confused! If I am Platinum and traveling solo but want to use my perk for a friend in another cabin, am I entitled to two dinners for two people? Or do both people have to be in the same stateroom?

Even better if your friend is also platinum. :)

  5. The studios are on decks 10 & 11. If you look at the deck plans, the entrance is by the lounge - there should be a space in the wall. I'm not sure about Deck 11 but on Deck 10 you can also exit by cabin 10523 at the opposite end of the studio hallway - it is an exit only though.

  6. Garden Villa guests definitely get better service and more attention. That being said, I would explore all the options. The Gem has Haven and non-Haven suites. Non-Haven suites get all same perks as Haven suites but no access to the Haven. If you don't care about the private Haven area, book separate suites depending on how your group can be divided. 3 aft penthouses with 2 people each and all 6 getting all the perks would be cheaper than the Garden Villa where only the first 2 people get the perks.

  7. I have been told there is a glitch in the system. That sometimes the payment option is there and sometimes it is not. My last 2 cruises it was not but my upcoming did have the option. My sister did not have the option to pay online for her cabin. My sister & I are sailing together but in separate cabins (same cruise, same date) and I booked both cabins through the same phone call via Casinos at Sea.

  8. The Star doesn't have spa cabins. Day spa passes are rarely available. They do offer weekly. You can google videos of the Star spa to decide if it is worth it.

You do not need to make show reservations. You might want to make specialty dining reservations but main dining room reservations are not necessary.

  9. If you purchase the Beverage Package after boarding in Miami do you also pay port taxes in addition to the 18% gratuity?

Terms and conditions say taxes are added in "certain ports". FYI I've just added a third person to our cruise and the UBP is only included for the first two passengers so we'll need to purchase the additional UBP.

    Thanks for any info,

    Tracy

The 3rd person does not have to buy the UBP if the first 2 got it as a perk.

  10. Can the OBC that NCL is giving as part of their promotion be used to pay the $150? And what is the credit given for the suite/Haven $500 certificates?

Yes to the promotional OBC being used to pay for the cruisenext. I'm not sure about the Haven certificate prices.

The OBC is a figment of everyone's imagination!!

You are debited with the cost of the FCC; say USD250.

You are then credited with the "bonus"; in that case USD100.

That leaves you with a "bill" for USD150 that you have to pay.

By calling it OBC NCL is trying to fool you into spending something you don't really have.

The person you replied to asked if promo obc can be used to pay that $150 bill for the certificate.

  11. It has been in effect for awhile now for U.S. people. I picked UBP as my perk for February 2016 and the service charge was definitely on my booking invoice. The Free at Sea perks have been going on for a long time now - did you pay the $79 per day for UBP or was it the perk you picked? If it was a perk, you paid for it before you even sailed - unless you booked prior to it being in effect. If you are out of the U.S. or if you booked in a suite, there was not service charge on the perk. If you are looking to book again and were going to pay the $79 per day for the UBP, don't. Pick it as a Free at Sea choice.

  12. Then they should lock threads after 1 year then. I even posted the official website link so that they can reference things.

Perfect - that is what someone who does their own research and reads terms and conditions will review but there are those out there who will read the posts and take what someone posted in 2011 as what the current rules are.

  13. I've had to park on the ramp outside the actual parking lot. There is info on the port of call boards for other options in case you are worried. Think of it as the day you board, people are disembarking so cars will leave.
