  1. Bit the bullet and booked a hotel in the Dam Square area .....I only going there once might as well be where we can walk out of the hotel and see the sights rather than going on a train back and forth.....anyone stayed at the BW Dam square .....looked at google maps and I guess the best way there is to take the train to the central station and a tram back to the dam square area??? or a bus from the airport....any thoughts......looks like the hotel is in a no car area....just people walk streets

  3. My boo boo.....it is 30 euros for three days......looked on the link given about 5 posts up.....still a bargain for three days going anywhere we want and back.....
  4. Thanks Bruce......notice I can get a three day pass for all trains, trams...etc....for about 18 euros...cheap transportation....
  5. Lots of good ideas....but one thing I notice is no one mentions the $$$$$.....at $400 or more ++++ taxes etc a night I was shocked.....so have decided to stay closer to the airport and train in and out.....only a 20 min ride.....and then use the money I save for tours and dinners out........I guess we are more of value for money kind of folks....lol....
  6. Well CruserBruce......when I have to pay almost 400 to 500 euros for a night it is no brainer for me to stay at the airport for way way way less and travel in and back by train.....I looked at staying in the city but got blown away with the prices.....
  7. We are staying three days ahead of a cruise out of Amsterdam and staying at an airport hotel......it has a shuttle to the airport or a bus stop really close that takes you to the airport .....but......if we want to go back and forth to the city for three days is there a pass for the train and do not really want to buy individual tickets .....it is apparently only a 20 min train ride to central station....thanks....
  8. Thanks again....looked up the Firenze....looks like a Costa ship???....with same smoke stack....lol
  9. Thanks for that....a relief as my daughter and kids like the look of the Panorama for the slides and water park area....lol...not so much for me
  10. And the Firenze isn't replacing the Panorama. Instead of doing straight 7-night PV/Mazatlán/Cabo trips, the Panorama will be doing a mix of those 7-nights plus 8-nights that add La Paz and 6-night Cabo/Cabo/Ensenada..... This post surprised me......I am taking the family on a cruise and booked the Panorama already for April of 2024.....I wonder if this will affect the cruise we are on.....???....April 13th one....will look up Firenze and see if that ship shows up anywhere as have never seen that name before....
  11. Thanks Itried.....yes....LAX......good thought not to go to Long Beach.....stay close to airport and uber or shuttle to the boat next day.....we have done that before going to San Pedro for Princess....same idea.....half hr shuttle ride in the am....
  12. Any tips on where to stay that will not cost "an arm and a leg" the day before the cruise leaves....we fly in the night before from Canada??....probably the wrong forum to as this???
  13. Nice reading such positive stuff on the ship.....do not usually sail Carnival but taking my son and daughter and families on a "Family Cruise"...lol....the ship had to have a water park and slides for the kids.....maybe I can have a race down against my son in law....lol.....Cheers from Canada
  14. Kazu....my thinking....2PM one.....easy one to do....and do not have to rush off the ship early....I hate that.....looked at the ship transfer....$50 each CAN......so have added it to the res.....Thanks all for your thoughts....Ken
  15. Tigrou.....thanks....just the info I was looking for......will phone Hal and see what the charge is for airport transfer.....I knew the airport was fairly close but if get off ship early should have no problem....Ken
  16. We are on the HAL...Rotterdam sailing out of Amsterdam in September.....On Oct 7 arriving back in Amsterdam.....one of my choices to fly back to Canada leaves at 12.35 Pm on KLM......is that too tight to make from the ship???....anyone know that has done connections to the airport from the ship......I wonder if HAL does a ship to airport transfer???.......we have used other shuttles that say do not book to leave before a certain time......my other choices are later in the day which should be fine.....3.20 pm or 2.00 pm.....Thanks for input....starting to look at the $$$$$$$ flights over
  17. Thanks everyone.....looks good for us.....will book the $249 one and have $50 to use up on another....super
  18. 1: Shore excursion offer: Choose three shore excursions per guest (up to $100 value per tour). Shore excursions are available to pre-reserve or may be Question.....say a tour costs $249 in one of the ports we are going to and is one we are interested in...........can I only use 100 of the credit for it....and have to pay the other $149..out of my pocket or will they let me use most of it for the tour......???......looks sort of like a poor perk if it forces me to pick cheap tours just to use up the $100 for the three tours and pay the rest.....my wife and I both have $300 each to spend on tours.....most of the ports are easy to do your own thing so not sure if this is such a good perk???....thoughts.....
  19. atobos......thank for the old post link....will send on to my daughter......looks like what they will have......prob can keep queen if they want and let the steward step on bed and put the ladder at the end to get up on the ceiling bed......... rollaway by the desk and balcony door....crowded but will work I guess......I imagine they will be able to figure out something that works for them......kids are small.....grade one....
  20. reedprincess.....that looks very doable for 4......but I do not think the room my daughter has have the two beds out of the ceiling......perhaps only one.....that is why a rollaway bed?......I like the picture you sent......wonder what room that is????..... I am sure they will all have a great time no matter what the bed configuration is.....but will be cramped....lol.....
  21. those pics do not look like a balcony set up....more like an inside or oceanview one....
  22. Cabin is A518.......sleeps 4......daughter says on the res now they have ordered a rollaway.....so assume one bed does not come down from ceiling???......they need to get a mini suite....lol.....way more room....haha....
  23. My daughter just got upgraded to one of these but trying to find a picture of the room set up for two adults and two children at night is hard to find....anyone know how they set the room up???.......not sure if parents can keep the queen bed figuration??? and the kids sleep where......imagine the rollaway would go in the closet area by the door during the day???...and during the night under the tv area by the desk???.....or how about on the balcony....lol........the other bed comes out from the wall but where???.....Thanks
  24. Well...sorry we have decided to do a 21 day Baltic in this time frame.....Asia is on hold now until the next spring......in 2024.....it seems there are no MSC cruises in Asia....too bad.....have fun if you go....looked great and the price was really good......
