  1. I'll tell him tomorrow. That being said, how is my experience going to get better if I complain??? To get good food and service do you really have to sail other lines? Is Royal so far gone we should just give up? Diamond after this cruise.

  2. On allure now. Ate in chops back in November on grandeur. Felt food quality and service was lacking. On allure today, feel the same. Meh food and inattentive service from one rushed waiter. What exactly does the $49 pp upcharge pay for if not food quality or service? Am in a suite so should I tell genie or just shut up because this is how corporate wants it and there is no fixing what is intended? (And before haters respond, yes we didn't pay directly since in a star suite but just the same was very disappointed. ).

  3. We eat in upscale steakhouses with some regularity. Maybe eight to twelve times a year. Was expecting that kind of experience at Chops on a recent cruise. Instead got very bad service and limited selection of meh USDA choice cuts of beef. Very much fell below expectation. Seems very odd to me that this is a situation where the cruise line could shine but clearly they've chosen to not shine. Odd.

  4. Chopped Liver : I would think that by now you would realize that they do not want the mature , loyal customer any longer. They want the young families with many kids to spend money. Mature cruisers may cruise more often but we look for the best prices and spend very little on their ships. Now which do you think RCL wants ??.. Now if you were a Pinnacle and was having your food cut, you would love every minute of it and I'm sure say it was deserved for your loyalty. Just sit back and chill or go to an upscale line .

I'm one of those young with kids and money to spend. But am dismayed by what I'm learning are cutbacks. In particular the food cutbacks, even in speciality restaurants, and reductions in staffing that are obvious. We will hit Diamond on an upcoming cruise. We will remain loyal to a Royal for the kids stuff but once my children get older we will definitely move on to a better line. Oddly, the things that mater to me are more soft product and a relatively inexpensive list of things. We only sail in two bedroom suites so it's not that we're perk-less now. They're just so underwhelming relative to the price premium we pay.

  5. Thank you for your feedback. We did Disney on the magic about five years ago. It was an OK experience but not something that we would repeat. We felt the food was just so-so and I didn't see why it was worth paying a premium overall with them. More recently, we sailed in the two bedroom Aqua theater suite. This was just before the introduction of the new star class program. While we like the size of the room there was nothing particularly special. I am willing to eat in specialty restaurants, but based on our last cruise a few weeks ago the food there was just not very good. The quality of the food and level of service was not very good. In fact I felt that there were very few perks of sailing in a suite (we had the two bedroom suite). So I am wondering if this is the best at Royal Caribbean can offer, is there another cruise line that has a similarly good kids program but has been a much stepped up overall experience. It doesn't really sound like there may be.

  6. We have young kids and so far have settled on Royal Caribbean as our cruise one of choice we take two to three cruises a year. One to Europe and one or two to the Caribbean. We like Royal for the kids programs but dislike that they're not more upscale. Just preference. Is this the best line given or kids and tastes or is another better? Have been on Celebrity a half dozen or so times and enjoyed it but found the kids programs more limited. Thanks for your opinions.

  7. We did hibachi on allure last year in Izumi. Was fun. And tasty. Didn't on Grandeur because we didn't think they kids would survive it. In re chops, was expecting a Ruth's Chris experience. Got a nice looking Outback. Very disappointing in terms of service (I like to be doted over by a team) and quality of foods. Not just the beef but the sides as well.

  8. Was on her last month. Found MDR service to be top notch. Food so so. Reflects years of cuts. Giovanni's service so bad we left in middle of dinner. Chops meh. Choice beef and inattentive service. Cancelled additional chops and Giovanni's dinners once we'd done one time in each. wJ comparable to a pig trough. Horrible. Food not labeled. Mystery meats in sauces were common. Hated it. Did not do Izumi. Allure last year was better all around.

  9. Never used choice air. But next summer are doing a month in Europe with family, which includes three small kids. Part of our time is the British isles cruise in August. Anyway, what are your thoughts on using choice air? The flights we want are KLM IAD-AMS and then after some time in France return Air France CDG-IAD. They're $3100 a ticket now for Business. Can choice do better? Or not and we should just book now at these prices? Five tickets in total.

  10. Chops filet was choice not prime. I expected prime. Only one waiter not the expected team doting on us in chops. Overall experience felt cheap. Was expecting high quality food and deference. Got a Outback experience. mDR better service but so so good. windjammer was a mob scene and very nasty food. Not often even labeled. Will NOT sail Grandeur again.

  11. Hello. Preparing for an upcoming cruise on Allure. Very excited to have a 2br aqua theatre suite. Did this a year ago and had a good time. Anyway, looking to go down to FLL a few days early for some nice beach time. What hotel would be recommended for a family of five? Preferably something big and amenity rich. Don't really want to rent a car.

  12. Way to go RC! More than an hour and a half wait to get off ship at Coco Cay. No priority disembarkation for suites. What's the point of paying a lot more money if all I do is shuffle in line? It's not about being snotty. It's about paying a premium price price but getting a sub par experience.
