  1. Booked a suite on Grandeur for a nice family cruise to the Bahamas and back.

Very convenient to drive to nearby Baltimore. Easy and quick boarding.

Terrible situation with almost six hundred children on board. Evidently Royal has done nothing to plan for this. Has been a tough first few days at a cold sea with that many kids and little to do.

That being said cruise is overall enjoyable.

Dining has been the dark spot. Windjammer is jammed. Too small. Too little seating. Poor selection of foods.

Dinner in chops was lousy the first night. Small portions. Meh quality. Not attentive service. Was expecting more white glove Ruth's Chris. Got an upgraded but quiet Outback.

Second night dinner in Giovanni's was so bad we left half way through. Massive waits between courses (we left after waiting 45 minutes after we finished starter course for next course that never arrived). Terrible service. Spoke with manager who was useless. Was expecting a special time not a very slow Olive Garden.

Will speak with concierge manger and either maitre d or food and beverage manger today for a refund. Really pathetic that now the speciality dining standards are so low.

It seems staffing levels have been reduced to the point where you just have one waiter instead of a more attentive team of various people. The poor waiters are doing it all and as a result it appears all cannot be done...glasses not refilled, plates not cleared, requests for things like butter or a new knife take forever, etc. way way different that the premium experience I was expecting.

Today is the first port stop. Excited to go to space center. And very glad for some warm weather.

  2. Two suites on Royal are two bedroom aqua theatre suites on Allure. We did this in December and enjoyed the extra space. The other suite booked on Royal is a Royal Family Suite on Grandeur, which sails from our home port of Baltimore.

  3. Hello all. On Eclipse now ending a nice two week cruise. We've been loyal but infrequent Celebrity cruisers for about six years, having taken about one a year. We were attracted to Celebrity six years ago on a friends recommendation about great food. However on or current cruise we have found food noticeably lousy, especially with cuts of beef and other meats. We travel with here young children so eating in speciality restaurants is a no go unless we put them in kids camp (something I tired to do once I realized good meals could only be found there...sadly all speciality were booked the rest of the cruise). We are cancelling an already booked future Celebrity cruise as a result of lousy food here since in a suite in Royal I can take kids to speciality restaurants....booked three Royal cruises in suites while on this Celebrity cruise. So what I am wondering is if food has been really cut back fleet wide or is this one (lengthy) cruise just a standout. Any thoughts?

  4. The room is spacious but not really elegant as I would expect. Clear wear and tear (marks on walls, mildly stained furniture and so on). Room service very slow. Just overall feels like a few things that were normally standard are now perks. Was expecting a more refined and deferential experience.

  5. Currently on Allure staying in an aquatheatre suite. So far very underwhelmed by the perks. Barely more than a standard cabin and certainly nothing special. The ship is nice and doesn't feel crowded but based on the past two days aboard I doubt I'd spend money on a suite again when similar perks come standard on celebrity. Am I the only one who feels the perks are not all that they're made up to be?
