  1. Awww... thank you! :o I'm glad that I'm able to help some of the upcoming cruise brides, because I know that I received a lot of help on this board when I was planning. You now have me very anxious to see how your wedding turns out and see photos. I was already planning to stick around on the cruise wedding forum to help upcoming brides, but now with the Star Wars theme, you just gave me even more motivation to stick around.

I love the dress! And I also like it even more that you will see the awesome shoes. And having the black & red sash makes it all come together perfectly. I had blue snakeskin shoes and a blue beaded sash. When I got the shoes, a few people thought the shoes weren't wedding-y enough, but they really went well when the whole outfit came together. I had the blue sash, blue jewelry, and blue flowers, so the blue in the shoes was perfect to help bring that pop of color into the whole ensemble. Even the people that had tried to talk me out of them thought they were perfect, when it all came together. And the little pops of color, looked super amazing in my photos. So, after that experience, I really think your shoes are perfect, especially with that dress, even if you didn't do the themed wedding.

If you and your man agree with the theme wedding, that's all that matters. Others may be hesitant about it at first, but most people will be accepting because they will want you to have the wedding of your dreams. And if it makes you feel any better, we were a bit hesitant about what people would think of me walking down the aisle to Metallica, but the people that recognized the song absolutely loved it. Besides my dress, that was probably the most complimented thing at our wedding. So, people do tend to like the unusual and appreciate the risks. And really, who DOESN'T like Star Wars? I could see where our 70-year-old parents wouldn't like Metallica. But Star Wars? There's not much risk there. :D

Well just a small reminder We are trying to get married May 4th 2017 so sadly you will have to wait to see our wonderful wedding pics but as soon as we get them I will be posting them on here PROMISE!!!

  2. I got married in June on the Dream... I personally had an amazing wedding on that ship, so think it's a great choice. And the people I worked with before and at the wedding were all wonderful to work with and very helpful. And the day-of coordinator we had, Jill, was absolutely amazing and I could never say enough good things about her.

If you give me your e-mail address, I can forward you all of the NOLA flower upgrade info they gave me (it won't let me upload them due to file size). I can also send you ALL of the many forms & options they gave me, if you would like. And I also have photos of the venue sites I can send. Some of the packages, prices & info has changed since I booked, but it's still helpful to see what they offer and what options you have.

Or here is the address for The Wedding Experience website they gave me, where they show a lot of upgrade, favor, and extras options and pricing:

    https://www.theweddingexperience.com/catalogue.php

Can you send me the Pics of the venues and flower info as well Please and thank you N4311@ymail.com

  3. I love the idea! My husband wanted to keep our wedding relatively traditional, so that ruled out anything like that. We are big Star Wars fans also and debated using the theme for our song as we left the ceremony, but changed our mind last minute and went with Beautiful Day by U2. I actually had made CD's for both songs and we didn't make final decision until after we got to the port... I walked down the aisle to Metallica, and we didn't want to get too crazy with it.

And I LOVE the shoes. I am a believer that shoes are a great way to have fun and personalize the wedding. And since most people won't even see them , unless you have short dress, you can have a lot of fun and get a crazy with them.

I got married about 7 weeks ago in New Orleans. This is just my experience, but I don't remember security being bad there at all. We went through security really quickly and they didn't even open one bag. They did open our 12-pack of soda to make sure we weren't stashing beer cans in there, but that is the only thing they checked in our luggage.

So, definitely ask your wedding coordinator about the light sabers. But, if you want to risk it, get cheap ones that you wouldn't be too upset about if they confiscated them.

I just want to start by saying that I always getting excited to read what you write! I loved the review of your wedding and it is what encouraged my Fiancé and I to sail out of New Orleans!

It is always fun to hear from Fellow Star Wars Fans so I'm grateful you took a second to comment :). I wont lie while we are excited to get married Via Star wars we are worried about how it will be received as we both come from semi traditional families, BUT we talked about it and decided to make us happy first as it is our day.:D:D:D

As for my dress it is in fact short, with a Black sash with Red Jewels, most brides want their dress to be the focal point of her ensemble, I plan for it to be my shoes ;). though he doesn't know it yet he WILL be dressed as Han Solo lol ;)

Thank you so much for the heads up about TSA, while we hope it will be as fast and painless as you mentioned we will probably end up still contacting our wedding coordinator or planner and seeing what they say. we don't plan on buying a lot/ We found a website that sell 6 light sabers for $18 so we might go with those.

  4. People can bring costumes for Halloween, so maybe the Jedi could work since they don't wear a mask? Also, I totally wacked the crap out of my brother with the lightsaber too, plus it was good when the power went out during storms. It's not Customs you have to worry about it's the wannabe TSA agents (they work for the port or a third party company) that do security.

Haha its tradition everywhere to wack the crap out of brothers lol thanks for the heads up for the wanna be TSA

  5. I love this! The only themed wedding I've seen is the Elvis/Hawaiian themed wedding I saw on my pre-wedding tour. The guys were dressed like this:

plumeria-lei.jpg and they had an impersonator do the processional and recessional. Seriously :D.

I think the only problem you might have is the toy light sabers because they could be deemed as weapons by security. I know it's stupid and they're obviously not, but they do confiscate toy guns and swords. I'd hate for you to have this grand idea and it get nixed last second.

If I thought we could get away with a Darth Vader Impersonator, storm trooper or even a Jedi I would find one AND pay for their cruise but I don't see the costumes getting through Customs lol

  6. I only thought about it because the security people in Baltimore are ridiculous. I don't know if it's because all security is heightened in the DC metro, but seriously, they inspect every freaking last thing.

I love the light-up ones. My brother had a lightsaber when we were kids that looked like a flashlight and he had to flick to extend. It lit up and was green. It looked like this guy.

    31A88BD4XML._SY445_.jpg

OMG I remember these I had one in blue, used to beat up my big brother with it till my dad ran it over with his car . I just read on the Carnival website that any toy that looks like or can be used as a weapon cannot be brought on board...I think I will still ask my coordinator. If it turns out we cant have our Light saber Arch we will live but it would be soooo much fun. We are planning on shipping out of New Orleans hopefully its not so uptight there ;)

  7. Definitely ask. It may be okay since they are not shaped like actual weapons you would find in this world. You could always get the flashlight ones where the saber part screws off and on and put them in your carry on luggage separate.

I am doing Kilt pins instead of boutinierres and have decided to make them myself to avoid using the traditional swords that even at only 2 inches long and jewelry I worried might not make it past an overly rule happy port person. :)

We were thinking of using the light up ones that kids love and are cheap enough to not break the bank lol

I think that the Kilt Pins you make yourself will have more meaning to them so will be more appreciated! Better Safe then sorry :-)

  8. I love this! The only themed wedding I've seen is the Elvis/Hawaiian themed wedding I saw on my pre-wedding tour. The guys were dressed like this:

THANK YOU!!! I wont lie I hadn't even thought about security not letting the Toys in...Guess that's something I need to ask the Wedding coordinator?

  9. Whovian here, fiance is a Deader. I offered to give him zombies but he said not at a wedding. I did however pick TARDIS blue as one of my wedding colors along with having a TARDIS in my brooch bouquet.

Greeting Whovian. I love the colors and the TARDIS have to love it!!! I also offered the Zombies as we are avid TWD fans and Zombie Walker but as we will have kids there (as well as all the other cruisers) we didn't want to scare anyone so we figured this was a fun safe way to incorporate our quirkiness into our wedding

  10. So has anyone done any kind of themed wedding? My SO and I are huge Star Wars Geeks and he is trying to talk me into somehow incorporating our movie into our wedding...we found some stuff like a star wars runner and cake topper as well as wedding favors, toy light sabers for our Arch as we walk away from the ceremony and playing star wars music for the entrance and walk away...has anyone done anything like this?

  11. I am sitting on the Lido deck waiting to debark. I will get a review up in a couple days. 2. Quick things when things seem impossible (our wedding coordinator was a no show) it all works out beautifully and 2. Double your budget for the photos...I was so sure I could resist...but we spent double what we budgeted.

Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you and yours. While it sucks that your coordinator did not show up...at all, its great that everything turned out beautiful. Cant wait to see pictures and read your review. Enjoy your vacation!!!

  12. No it helped !! I was trying to think of how to word the std or whatever it would need to go on about the limited number and yours is perfect ! I totally forgot that some people would be too afraid to cruise too lol

Oh yay I was worried!!! I tend to go off on a tangent lol... Don't stress, don't worry, take a deep breath. everything will work out and you will end up with a beautiful wedding and a Long happy marriage!

  13. So you are planning for all 200 to sail ? Carnival only allows 50 non-sailing guests if you have the embarkation wedding which is what we were planning so more people would be able to attend. I mean I doubt I will have 30 people sailing so how do I make sure to stay within the 50 limit since I know that 15-20% of the people will be complete no-shows anyway. It seems complicated or maybe I'm just over thinking it lol :confused::(

No not over thinking at all you want to be prepared and I understand that! We have invited 200+ people to the wedding and are budgeting for 200+ sailing guests. In our STDs that we sent out we informed everyone that while we would love for individuals to show up for the wedding and NOT sail that sadly there was a limit of how many where allowed to do so. So IF you were planning on NOT sailing, let us know ASAP so we can prepare for that. I am an uber list maker lol and my lists are saving my sanity. since we are not getting married until 2017 we have given everyone plenty of time to save up and put in for time off. so far we have only had 3 individuals inform us that they are in fact not cruising with us due to my SILs extreme fear of deep water. Like you said there will be a lot of no shows so that extra money in the budget will go tword an excursion or something. IMO its is better to budget to much then to little. Did this help you at all or did I make it worse...

  14. I know it is traditional for the bride to give a gift to all the members of her party, I was wondering if it was the same for the Groom and his Grooms men?

Does anyone have any idea of what they are planning to do? I found these necklaces and I think I'm going to go ahead and get them. I love them! They are sterling silver and have a piece of meteorite from the 1576 Campo del Cielo find. what do you think? I want my gift to be something original and unique enough that they know that I love them and am grateful that they were about to stand with me.

  15. Yes, don't worry.

You will have plenty of time.

Our ceremony included us coming in, the officiants words, a hand-fasting ceremony and inviting special guest to join us in a circle of love where we presented them with roses. A lot can get done in 20 minutes, and ours was about 25 minutes.

That was more for us. The guest really just want to eat and party any way so why prolong it!! lol

Awww you had a hand fasting ? How sweet!!! My Fiancé wants to have one as he is Pagan. Any suggestions? He wants to incorporate the sand ceremony so we can include all his adult children...We have a good friend of both of ours who is also Pagan, that is ordaining over the wedding and she tells me that there is not much we can do in 20 mins...but hearing from you guys makes me think she just wants to extend her limelight ;) Thank you so much!!!
