  1. The bus fare page on the Govt of Bermuda site contradicts itself for the child fare. On the top figure it shows child fares for 5-16 years old but further down it shows 5-15.

Another option if you are going through Hamilton is to buy ticket books, they don't sell them at the port. It really all depends on what you want to do and how many stops you plan to make.

I feel like I always miss the invite 😞

From the NCL latitudes page "For day, time and location, please come to the CruiseNext desk in the Atrium by 9:00 pm on embarkation day or by 9:00 pm on the second day of the cruise for Pride of America"

    • Thanks 1
  3. We usually drive from Ohio to NY to cruise and have gone during spring break, June, and September.  We prefer NCL so we go from Manhattan which is nice because you sail past the Statue of Liberty. We typically stay in NJ the night before then drive into NYC the morning of the cruise. For parking we have used both the port and private lots, the port lot is more expensive but is very convenient. This year we are trying a park, stay and cruise hotel in NJ which works out cheaper.

Also the "gratuity" money that is added onto their checks is going to be taxed, giving them even less money.  And from the estimated calculations you just made, that is very little in tip money for a weeks worth of hard work.  I definitely do not want to cut their wages even further, especially the people behind the scenes.  That calculation definitely puts it in perspective for me and now I am rethinking removing the gratuity charges.  We will likely still tip them cash even if we keep the gratuity charges, cause they deserve better.

But what about the behind the scenes people that also share in the service charge? If you don't see them how can you tip them?

Also the ship employees do not pay US taxes except on the Pride of America in Hawaii.

Ours are ages 10-16, but I totally agree that I don't want them roaming about.  So there is an messaging app onboard?  Will the kids get cabin keys also or will they have to write their whereabouts so anyone can see?

Their ship cards will also be able to open their cabin door.

FYI their card will also have the ability to charge things to the cabin, when checking in you can have that ability removed.

  6. FYI Lactaid is used for people that have a lactose intolerance.  Lactose intolerance is a digestion problem and not a food allergy.

In our experience with a dairy allergy we would meet with a person that coordinated special meals and would place the orders for the next day and let them know where and what time we planned to eat and they would have the meal ready. They were really good with special requests but the planning of meal times and places wasn't always the most convenient.

  7. Ferry service to the Statue is available from NJ. This is what we did in 2016 to see both the Statue and 9/11 Memorial. Drive to the Liberty State Park and take ferry to Ellis Island and Liberty Island then take ferry to Battery Park in NY and walk to the 9/11 Memorial(less than a mile) then walk(.5 mile) to the World Financial Center dock and take the Liberty Landing Ferry back to Liberty State Park(Liberty Landing Marina) for $7 each. Easy to do in a day if you get there the night before, now is the time to make reservations to go in the crown of the Statue.

  8. We caught the ferry to the Statue of Liberty from Liberty Park in NJ and went to the Statue and Ellis Island(get tickets to the crown if still available) then we took the ferry to Battery Park in NYC and walked up to and toured the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. We then just bought ferry tickets back to Liberty Landing Marina at Liberty State Park.

  9. From The Bahamas Press:

Athol Island, Bahamas – Bahamas Press is confirming a reported shark attack in the area of Athol Island just around noon today.

A guest to the island was snorkeling with a supervised group along the coastline of Athol Island, just east of Paradise Island, when the incident occurred.

The arm of the female guest was bitten off, and immediately she was rushed into surgery. She is alive and recovering from the attack.

  10. Your experience is not in alignment with the Corks and Caps Package Terms and Conditions...

    https://www.ncl.com/terms/corks-and-caps-package

Not saying it didn't happen... just saying it isn't supposed to.

If you go just by only T&C's of the package then the waiver is also not valid. But as seen below they refer to the alcohol policy which allows 18 and over to purchase and consume beer and wine with a waiver.

"You must be at least 21 years of age to purchase any alcoholic package and to consume alcohol. See the terms of our guest alcohol policy"

  11. You realize you'll be able to drink only beer and wine. No UBP, you'll be charged for individual drinks plus 18%.

    Cheers!

If the waiver is signed then the Corks and Caps package is available. Last summer and last week my daughter was offered an upgrade from the soda package when we signed the waiver. You just have to pay the difference in gratuity.

  12. Haha! And yea, my mom was really looking forward to hanging out at the Great Outdoors all week, especially for breakfast. They were redoing the floors, and never reopened it :( we also were asked if we could leave our cabin for a few hours while they lay down new carpet and decor. Ended up saying no, since we could smell the glue from the redone rooms down the hall and didn't want to deal with it the whole trip.

It's too bad they weren't just honest and told us it would be closed all week. I looked out the window of LaCucina on Friday and I will be surprised if it is open at all this week.
